DHT Levels

My DHT levels are 210, aproximately 3 times the upper range.

Do I need to be concerned about this?

Is there any way to bring them down if it is a concern?

Also, SHBG is 52 which is at the top of the range, Free T 188 which is lower than what many here say is optimal. Should I try to lower SHBG and if so, what is the best way?

I am currently on 10g Testim daily with no other meds.

Thanks

I'm not feeling great, still fatigued more than I want but that may be from sleep apnea. I was just diagnosed and will begin treatment (CPAP) next week. I am really hoping that helps.

Nettle root extract to reduce SHBG. I suggest searching the term, and you will find a number of posts. NutraPlanet has a good product, that is very strong. I'm using NOW product, but will switch once I finish the bottle.

With that DHT level, I would think you could drop the gel dosage. In any event, you should consider the impact that this could have on prostate and hair (loss on the head, growth everywhere else). I'd recommend getting it down close to the top of range.

What's your E2?

e2 is 27 (<29)
TT is 850 or so

I posed the question because it seems many on the boards don't even worry about checking DHT levels.

Your E2 is perfect as is your TT.

For the most part, DHT is not so high as long as TT is close to being in range. Your number is unusual You ought to have PSA test for prostate inflammation with a number like that. Propecia would certainly drop the number, though it causes hormonal problems in a small percentage of men -- though I think it's largely a matter of DHT dropping too low, which doesnt seem likely in your case. Another solution would be to inject cypionate. FWIW, it's cheaper. But then you may inherit E2 problems.

You may want to post your question on the steroid board. It's more likely that you'll find others there with crazy high DHT and what they have done to combat side effects, which, in most cases, drops DHT.

Is your hair thinning more? Acne? Short temper? Barn busting gains at the gym? Uber libido? These are things I would expect with a DHT level like that.

I raised the point on the steroids section that testosterone causes a rise in dht and that androgen recptor sites are in the prostate, This was in response to a guy wanting to take sustanon 250 weekly it might have been 2 weekly , anyway i have had nobody come back and reply to my post.

I find it odd that there is so much advice given on looking after the liver, keeping estrogen at bay , recommended supplements for pct but no one seems concerned about the prostate.

Before i started TEST replacement therapy i had to have a PSA test and again after 12 months into the treatment My treatment was a Nebido injection every 11 weeks and here we have a guy wanting to inject sustanon 250 weekly or 2 weekly . I find it odd.

I would be concerned as that is grossly out of range. Look up the possible long term side effects of high DHT and you will be concerned as well. I would immediatly come off the gell and switch to injections as this will lower your DHT by a lot.

Testim ---> transdermal testosterone delivery

This happens often (probably always), transdermal delivery raises DHT.

On Androgel and T-cream I had similar situation.
For over two years I was not able to get anything else except Androgel.
To lower my DHT I was using Propecia (finasteride) and Avodart (duosteride).
They worked, actually too good, my DHT was closer to the bottom range.

I changed to t-shots 2 years ago, at the first chance I got at T-shots.

Infrequent shots at a weekly schedule often are the reason fo high E2.

I use EOD schedule for my (T+HCG) shots.
I use very little Arimidex=Liquidex(liquid)=Anastrozole(liquid).
Currently I do not need AI.
Also my DHT settled at the upper end of range, just where I need it.

If you can get T-shots it is worth a try.
