My diet...is killing my energy

I have most of the symptoms most of us talk about. I recently started to get serious about eating better in an attempt to pick up my ridiculously low energy level.

Here is a typical day...tell me why its wrong:

8 am glass of orange juice
9 am 1-2 cups of oatmeal with splenda
12 noon 1 large can of tuna fish, plain
3 pm 8 ounces chicken breast, with small amount of sauce, with mixed vegetables
630 pm ham sandwich on wheat, small amount of bbq sauce
9 pm fruit or a few granola bars

seems normal enough but my energy has fallen off a cliff.

I have severe adrenal fatigue.

Any suggestions?

not enough slow digesting carbs. from 10-6, you're not taking in anything worth mentioning. that's why you're crashing.

try eating that granola bar you take at 9pm at 12pm and 3pm instead. there's no reason to have that many carbs pre bedtime.

Thanks I will add a cup of yogurt at noon and three and cut out the granola bar at night.

I am 6 ft 215 and work out 4 days a week.

I am in decent shape but not cut.

My primary goal is increase in energy, my metabolism could not be slower.

How do you know your metabolism is slow?

The reason you have no energy is because you eat like my 103 pound sister. The diet you posted probably only has 1800 calories, IF THAT.

You should be eating 2600 minimum, IMO.

Agreed...but...if that is the case then why am I gaining about a pound a month? It is not the right kind of weight. I know that losing weight is not a matter of eating less.

I stop eating once I am full and the above diet keeps me full most of the day. I am going to add digestive enzymes as I feel I am not absorbing/digesting food very well.

It is very difficult for me to eat much before noon.

ETA....you nailed it...and I am clueless.

I dont have everything here with me but it looks like this is around 1500 calories...and somehow I am still gaining weight. I will be adding calories ASAP.

When you eat too little your body pulls calories to increase fat. Where does it pull the calories from? Regular bodily functions; hence why you're feeling like ass and gaining weight at the same time.

Rugger nailed it, eat more.

Eat some protein? only 3 of your meals have protein in it... increasing protein intake will drastically improve your metabolism and energy. make sure protein with each meal .
you weigh 215 so at least that much protein. guarantee youll feel much better
