SilentBob's first encounter with Big Pharma, Muscle Pharm that is (sponsored)

You and that tuna scare me something fierce Steve..

:frustrate

I've cut back to around a can a day man, lol. According to gotmercury.org that's still too much. For what it's worth, it's chunk light (skipjack) and not albacore.

Day 27: Off
Dietary Totals:

Meal 1
1 cup oats
1 scoop whey isolate
1/4 cup sunflower seeds

Meal 2
8oz chicken breast
1/4 cup sunflower seeds

Meal 3
1 can tuna
2 slices whole wheat bread
1 Raw Revolution bar (delicious, raw, vegan, alkaline forming)

Meal 4
8oz Keilbasa
1/4 cup almonds

Meal 5
6oz Ribeye (lean only)
1 potato

Totals:
3140 calories
249g protein
194g carbs (39g fiber/24g sugar)
152g fat (44poly/34mono/37sat)

Narrative:
I ate big for it being an off day. I was hungry, why fight it? Until I find a suitable cost effective replacement, tuna is still on the menu. Sorry CTD, I'll take my chances with NAC to help with mercury chelation/removal.

The Raw Revolution bar was amazing. I opened the thing up and it was looking all sorts of oily, yay for poly/mono fats! It was the raspberry & chocolate flavored one.

Suprisingly my shoulders aren't sore today. The make/break day for me regarding DOMS though seems to be the 2nd day, so we'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Tomorrow I may get out and do some abs and cardio, if so I'll definately let you all know about it.

Song of the Day:

You sir...are a blatant fool :jaw:

I love that smiley.

Any other cost effective alternatives I can use in place of tuna? Blatant's a little harsh man :(

cost effective...probably not.

However, I think your personal health is higher on the scale than your physical appearance...isn't it?

*I hope it is*

Lunch meat - no way, too much salt, looks nasty

chicken - can't do it more than 2x a day (price and chicken overload)

beef - wish I could do this every day (then get hit by the 'problem with red meat' carcinogen argument)

eggs - doable, already eat a lot of eggs as it is. maybe hardboiled eggs at work would help

nattypb - fat, protein, fiber; everything a growing boy needs

liver pills - 1g protein per pill, 4-5 per meal...cheap

hmmmmm, CTD this is definately an open list. If you can think of anything to add to this list, feel free to add it. I figure if I get enough options on paper/interwebs I can stare at it long enough and come up with some kind of decision.

Add tilapia and orange roughy to the list.

flank steak is good.

Oatmeal with protein powder is good.

Buffalo is awesome.

Tuna rinsed under water, actually if sodium is an issue the tuna has just as much as lunch meat. Giant Eagle has a brand of lunch meat that is good. Can't remember what it is called but it does not have the nasty fatty stuff in it. They also have some gourmet flavors. Taste is awesome, but it is much more expensive.

Oh and Brownfield makes a double fiber, double protein whole grain bread that is awesome. It has roughly 18gr of protein in 2 slices.

Hmmmm, tilapia. If it's something that's available in a can then we're in business.

Flank steak is up there with the beef dilemma. Although, cooked rare/medium rare has less carcinogens than well done, so that's a possibility.

Well as much as I love whey and oatmeal, I'd get a lot of heat doing that too many times in one day.

Buffalo is good but it's kinda pricey here.

The sodium in tuna isn't the issue (I rinse it under water anyway) it's the heavy metal content that CTD always has a way of reminding me of.

I'll head to the store today and see what I can find.

Well look up that bread, it is awesome tasting, it ups the fiber and the protein.

Tilapia in a can..hmmm nope. Now you can buy it pre-cooked in the deli sometimes. And in the frozen section.

Brownfield you say? Sounds like a plan to me...

Two slices of that and 2tbsp natty pb, that's 26g. Throw in a few liver pills and that's a cool 30. Right on crader! Now I just have to see if Kroger carries Brownfield.

I get mine at Krogers ;)

Whoops edited to add its brownberry bread

I'm definitely late for reply here...sorry Steve!

Some great suggestions there by Christine! Tilapia is ridiculously easy to prepare and even tastes much better than tuna. It's also not very expensive at all. Not as cheap as tuna....but still fairly cheap.

I wouldn't fear the carcinogens in meat nearly as much as the mercury in canned tuna. To each their own as to what to worry about (I would never say you were wrong or right either way), but I personally worry much more about excess tuna than I do about beef.

There are a great many ways of preparing the "same old" foods also that can spice them up for you and make you enjoy them all over again. Is that your problem with things like chicken? Just sick of the "same ol" kinda thing? I know I get like that with a lot of foods...frusturating as heck.

Not yet, I still like the seasoning that we use to cook chicken. The problem arises when my family decides they're going to take chicken to work too. Makes my weeks work of bird last about 2 days :frustrate

I need to come up with something quick for tomorrow...hopefully I'll come up with something.

Christine, that bread from Brownberry. Is it in the organic section @ kroger? I think I looked everywhere except for the coolers in the organic section for that bread. I made sure that location carried the brand too.

I'll try again tomorrow. I want that super bread!

At my Kroger it is in the regular bread isle. You looked there? They had a where can you find it link in the website I put up. But our Kroger has it. It is good stuff.

im having trouble with boredom on the tilapia, been trying new recipes but still.

Ever try new settings? :)

Tilapia is a perfect fish for that. Get some buddies (or a date) together, build a small fire outside somewhere and get something flat for over the fire.

wrap your tilapia in tin foil with olive oil, white wine, lemon, salt, pepper, fresh parsley, and some bay seasoning and put on the flat item ( a thin stone works very well).

Now you have a nice time to BS with a lovely lady or with some buddies...and have a good supper. Life is all about making choices that make you happy :)

Yeah I checked the link, and that's why I checked the 2 stores I did. I struck out at both locations. :(

Hmm did you ask someone. It is normally right in the bread aisle, maybe you overlooked it?

Nope, went back today and the bread area was actually restocked; it was right there.

199g protein
343g carbs (64g fiber/108g sugar)
144g fat (34poly/52mono/28sat)

Narrative:
As you can see, I found that double protein bread today, and took advantage of it. I didn't get a chance to cook up any chicken before work, so I had a bunch of pb sammies. Also, to keep my protein intake high I made sure to throw in some liver tabs with most of my meals. They're cheap, they're quick to swallow, and there are countless benefits associated with them.

Today's lift was sick. I don't know what compelled me to try SLDL super-set with Upright Rows, but that's intense! Anyway, I need to shower and try to get some sleep. I have to open in the morning and I need to start winding down so I can try to get at least 7 hours of sleep.

Sup Bobby. How you liken the goods?

Liking them so far. Running on my last few days of Assault and Bullet Proof though. Been out of Battle Fuel for over a week.

Did you like the bread? Hmmm I bet you are sitting in the bathroom right now! That is some grainy fiber there.

This bread is amazing. I killed an entire loaf in two days. Not sitting on the bathroom. ~60g of fiber keeps me regular, it doesn't tie me to the toilet.

Nothing special today. It was a big push day for chest. Nothing but presses. Next week is DB Presses, flies and cables. Diet was good today. I've felt good and full all day, nothing like spreading out some good fiber all day.

The scoop in Assault is starting to scrape the bottom of the tub. If the Battle Fuel was the beginning of the end, this is just further proof; this log is starting to wind down. :(

I'm confident that I have enough to finish out this week. I'll have my final review up either the day of, or the day after my last workout with MusclePharm.

Yeah, I know man. Probably would have been more harm than good had I done any more.

As for the liver pills, I'm currently using Beverly International. Once this bottle is done I have a bottle of Uni-Liver.

Narrative:
Another wicked leg day. It got to a point during the walking lunges where I was just in a haze, pushing through to crank out the remaining steps. To those who think this looks like a simple workout, try it sometime; I dare you :).

I had some tilapia for dinner. Cooked it in evoo, parsely, and onion powder. That stuff tastes great! 2 fillets has 42g of protein, and the lowest mecury content available in fish.

Shoulders tomorrow. I think we're going to start with Military, go big. Maybe increase the weight on the shrugs as well (keep 'em super-setted.)

I felt like it had been awhile so I went ahead and took some pictures. Weight was 189lb this morning. The first thing I noticed was my back is starting to take shape. This makes me very happy.

You should post a pic that shows some of your leg to see what kind of definition you have. I'm interested after reading all of your leg day workouts if they are working well for you or not.

I can increase the weight no problem, but I probably wouldn't be able to super-set the two lifts. Next week is heavy, will be a big leg day.

Indeed. Good for heavy days.

Narrative:
I mixed up my shoulder day a little bit. Went a little heavier on Military since it was at the beginning of the lift. It felt really good going heavier. I did heavier weight modified Arnold Presses as well. The trick is to do the rotation at the bottom of the lift (like in a Pec Dec) and then once you're arms are like goal posts, press up. I try to focus on pinching my pecs together at the bottom. Those things HURT. If they have another name, I'm not aware of it. If they're bad technique, whoops.

Went to a sushi bar tonight and had some spicy tuna rolls. I haven't had tuna all week so I think I'll be ok. :) It's really the only sushi I like to eat, and this time was no exception. Delicious.

FINAL REVIEW!

Well, it's been over a month and I'm all out of Muscle Pharm goodness. Thanks MP crew, pistonpump, pmiller, trueathlete, bb12, and all of you fans of hot chicks, detailed lifting and diet logs, and sweet jams. You all are my reason for putting the time and effort in to sharing my experiences with these products. Since this is a final review, I suppose I'll go in alphabetical order:

Assault: It's blue, it tastes like cotton candy (or freshly fallen snow, if you're a kid that works at VS,) and it lasted a solid month.

Power: I think the biggest thing I noticed from this product was the creatine blend. If the bar, db, etc. was moving, I could complete the rep. My pushing power was incredible.

Pump: The vascularity in my arms was getting out of control. I would catch myself looking at my veins in the mirror. And no, I didn't flex or primp in the mirrors, I was there to work! I could feel everything get ridiculously tight after my sets.

Energy: Not really much to speak of in the energy department from this product. If I wanted a focused or really intense lift, I'd throw together an ECA on top of Assault to super charge my workout.

Battle Fuel: 21 packs of 8 capsules of sheer intensity! I LOVED this product!

Aggression: High, I felt like an alpha on this product. Some of my best lifts were during the 2nd and 3rd week of Battle Fuel. There were days where I was so fired up that I couldn't stand still between sets.

Intensity: High :aargh:

Antioxidants: Since a large portion of the product is comprised of liver/kidney support I feel I should at least try to comment of this. I didn't get sick or feel and type of discomfort while on this product.

Bullet Proof: Recovery and sleep aid. SilentBob loves sleep! SilentBob loves Bullet Proof!

Smell/Taste: I figure I'd go ahead and get it out of the way, the powder smells rough. The taste is suprisingly better than the smell. I had grape, I like grape, it tastes like grape. It isn't as strong as Xtend grape, but isn't also not watered down either. It's a unique grape taste.

Sleep: I pass the f- out about 30 minutes after drinking this stuff. I wish I would pick up a book about lucid dreaming because my dreams have been great on this product. The kind of dreams where you'd just assume not wake up. 6 hours feels like 8 hours. 8 hours feels even better.

Recovery: I really don't know how to rate this one. Towards the end of the log I've been getting DOMs like it's my job. I'm sure I'm pushing myself hard (who isn't) but I was expecting more in the way of recovery from this product. There was one Thursday (legs) where the DOMs didn't go away until the following Tuesday.

Summation: I enjoyed these products from Muscle Pharm. The two that stood out two me were Battle Fuel and Bullet Proof. The intensity that I felt while I was taking Battle Fuel has to be experienced. While I didn't get 100% of what I was expecting out of Bullet Proof, I certainly loathed the 2 off days per week I had to yield. All in an effort to keep the benefits high.

Assault was a Pre-workout that would definately compete with Ragnarok. It's unique blend of creatines, beta alanine and cit. malate set it apart from other mainstream products out there. The taste was also great.
