College Football 2008 season

I'm pulling for bama........for obvious reasons.

I can't help but remember the 2005 season though.

"Three years ago, Crimson Tide won its first nine games before losing a 16-13 overtime heartbreaker to LSU... Texas wound up beating Southern Cal in a classic BCS national title game. For Alabama, an eventual Cotton Bowl victory over Texas Tech made for a 10-win season, but the finishing slump still irks members of that year's squad."

this thread is starting to get real tired lately, wheres the trash talkin at? i come here to vent. ok, its time for me to shake things up a bit...penn st. by 20 in the cold @iowa..temps. will be in the low-mid 30's with windchill factor in the 20's with flurries..(i love this weather)..i'd love to see the florida's, the bama's, and the texas' play "lowly" iowa on saturday..iowa may have the edge......holla!!!

Okay plenny... I'll bite.

Go take your Risperdal.
:lol::lol::lol:

Seriously, we've already debunked your "southern players in cold weather" theory, and it just doesn't add up. Too many former SEC players on those cold weather NFL teams, buddy.

Iowa is who we thought they were... another subpar Big Ten team. If your team doesn't win by at least 30... they should drop in the rankings. Meanwhile, Bama will be busy playing a team that we all know Penn State couldn't handle in the lowest of temperatures.

But hey, good luck with all of the Nittany Kittens' remaining big games. Pffftt.

And Vandy beats Florida 3-2, to make a bowl game this year! Hey Trauma1! :FUfinger: :lol::lol:

Okay... perhaps not.

Rubber... Dude.... I'm not looking forward to the game... ughhh.....

Nevertheless I feel obligated to talk the smack:

BEST CASE SCENARIO: Tigers 24 Bama 21

THEN AGAIN, WHEN I FACTOR IN THE AMAZING ABILITY OF OUR FRESHMAN QUARTERBACK TO THROW THE BALL TO THE OTHER TEAM:

LSU 24 BAMA 45

MOTHER F.

Maybe the homefield advantage and the LSU crowd that hates, hates, HATES Nick Saban will give us enough scream steam to force problems on the Tide.

It's gonna be a battle. Bama fans who are buying into the #1 ranking need to pull their heads out of their asses. LSU has won all three games so far against Bama's seniors. The Tide is only a 3-point favorite... and that's being gracious. I'm not sure the rest of the country realizes the level of contempt many LSU fans have for Saban.

As far as watching it... I've got that same "ughhh" feeling about it! Might need a few brewskies before the game even starts! :drunk:

:lol:As a resident of Louisiana, I can assure you that this is the only game that LSU is absolutely required to win this season. The hate is real.

For those of you who missed College Gameday. Btw, I love Herbstreit's analysis of the hate!

What... the... f-#-%-k?

Alabama deserves to lose if they keep playing like this. LSU is just out-coaching and out-physicaling Bama right now.

Dude I work with that's a Bama grad paid $300 for a ticket. I'm thinking he made a bad investment at this point.

Bama is lucky to be tied at the half.

2 LSU things:
1) It's uncanny Jarrett Lee's pick 6 ability. Just strange. Only way to describe it.
2) Major OUCH if LSU has to burn Jordan Jefferson's redshirt as far as future plans. But if he's better than Lee - I really, really, really have to question Miles as to why he wasn't given a shot earlier in the year.
(I heard all this fall practice stuff around BR about how good the kid looked. Can't help but wonder why he wasn't given a chance with Lee looking so damn bad.)

Lastly - going back and forth between Bama-LSU and PSU-Iowa. That high powered PSU offense doesn't look so high powered, but I like the way they've played Shon Green (Iowa RB) thus far.
They just picked up an Iowa fumble and ran it down for a TD.

Yup - I was listening to Eagle 98.1 the other night on the way home from the gym when they were asking for Saban hatred quotes.

Those same ones ended up on ESPN Gameday this morning.

Wish I was in BR this weekend, I'd have went to Gameday just for the hell of it.

I'm in Gainesville with my family - Gates are on the road. So I won't be infected with Urban Crieritits. (AKA call a time-out with 30 secs. left to act d*ckless in letting Tebow throw for some meaningless TD)

Ohhhh - please don't tell my boy Devin Hester he's in cold-azz Chicago! Or don't tell Ed Reed he's in Baltimore!

Jesus.

Anyway - I'm about to take back that comment of PSU against Shon Greene - dude just trucked it in to make it PSU 23-Iowa 21.
Iowa hit a long pass to the TE and then a screen-thing to him. Nice drive by them.

Big win by Bama.

Man... my chest hurts. Good game, LSU Gladiator. Not exactly a pretty win, but I'll take it. LSU came to play, so props to them. Bama was outcoached, but had some key players (namely Rashaad Johnson) come through. Smash-mouth game on both sides of the ball.

plenny, oh plenny... we thank you so much for posting this season. You've inspired us all with your... umm... well... Anyway plenny, we've got some nice parting gifts for you backstage. You take care now, and best wishes.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

YES!!!! Penn state goes down!!

Florida's chances just got a lot better. :head:

Great game between LSU and Bama. I actually stayed at work to watch the end of the game. If florida wins tonight, UF and Bama will meet....

I know we aren't the team we were last year, but for a few hours it felt like it.

I'm hoarse and irrepairably broken hearted.

I agree with jmh80... Lee was not exactly accurate tonight. You definitely have nothing to hang your head about, buddy. Look at it this way: In a rebuilding year, your team hung with the top-ranked team through OT. The future's still bright in Baton Rouge... and a bitter rivalry (yes, it can be called that now) has been born.

Geaux Tigers.

ROLL TIDE.

Agree with Game Day this morning - looks like Miles and Satan, errrr Saban, will be Schembechler-Hayes v2.

The Gator Stomp of vanderbilt in full effect!!

My oh my this florida team is playing well.

plenny's last gasp.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkcccccccccccccccc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2003 psu loses to iowa after bye week
2004 psu loses to iowa after bye week
2008 psu loses nat'l championship hopes to iowa.

the sad part is we'll share the big10 conf. championship with ohio state(who we beat)..same thing happened in 2005 when we lost by a point to mich. and beat ohiost.

ps......(capitalize)..FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....i cant show up for work on mon either...........now, its miller time.

It was only cold on the Penn State sideline. Iowa had warmer bubbles for their players.
if darryl clark hadn't thrown the ball into a 30mph wind it wouldn't have gotten picked off..def the game changing play of the game. not to mention the bogus pass interference on anthony scirotto on 3rd and 17 which gave iowa a new set of downs plus 15yrds.....with that said i was impressed by iowas def.:whiner:

Well... 10-0 and #1 is pretty impressive to me.

plenny, I was gonna take it easy on you too... but now it's on. Stand by to stand by!

Btw... you either win a conference outright... or you don't win it at all. Weeeaaaaak.

Jesus.

Whatever.

That pass interference wasn't bogus. That #10 hit the WR before the ball was there. That's PI, bro. Take off the Blue and White or whatever glasses. That was PI.

You guys cost yourselves the game with that sorry azz Big 11 soft zone. You couldn't stop that hippy QB when it counted from hitting that TE. You coudln't stop Greene at all.

The whining is retarded. Winds - whatever. You had the winds at your back for 2 quarters. Put the game away when it counts instead of letting them hang around.
The whole foot on the gas thing is lost to the Big 11. They'd be well to watch the Big 12 tonight. Those dudes know how to do that.

That loss was on PSU, soley. Don't circumvent the blame on winds, JoePa farting, or whatever.

Very, very, very, very, very impressive win by Texas Tech tonight.

My vote for #1 is them. Period.

Their offense is stupidly rediculous.

Florida........Bama.........it's now in the books.

If both teams win out their remaining schedule, it certainly looks like the winner will be one of the teams in the championship game, imo.

We shall see.

And for the record, the florida offense is a fukcing machine!!!

:woohoo:

They did look impressive. We'll see how they handle oklahoma next week though.

:woohoo:

Glad your guys are peaking now... so hopefully by Dec. 6, they'll be due for an Ole Miss-style slump! Looks like it's game on, Trauma. I'll be pulling for Florida the next three weekends.

Go Gators! Roll Tide!
SEC, baby!!!

Ummm... nevermind, plenny. Looks like you've been taken care of.
:saw:

Good luck against Michigan State though. Even if it's only for a chance to be co-chumps.

agreed. I hope they win out and face florida for the national championship, cause that'll make for a great game

Here's the coaches poll. The AP and Harris rankings look similar, except for the Nittany Kittens and Utah swapping places, and the same for Texas and Oklahoma.

USA Today-Coaches Poll
1. Alabama (44)
2. Texas Tech (17)
3. Florida
4. Oklahoma
5. Texas
6. USC
7. Utah
8. Penn State
9. Boise State
10. Ohio State

I'm sure I'll catch some heat for this, but I'm still not buying them. Yes, their offense is ridiculous... but they're allowing over 22 points a game on defense. I think a team like Florida would expose them. The Gators would be able to hang with them on offense... and there's no way Tech would be able to light up Florida's (or Alabama's) defense like they do their Big 12 competition.

That's exactly why I still believe the SEC is the slightly better conference again this year. No one in the Big 12 plays great defense. Even Oklahoma has given up 13 TDs in their last three games.

It always comes down to the same ol' cliche: Defense wins championships.

BCS Standings
1. Alabama 0.98
2. Texas Tech 0.97
3. Texas 0.88
4. Florida 0.86
5. Oklahoma 0.84
6. USC 0.79
7. Utah 0.77
8. Penn State 0.68
9. Boise State 0.68
10. Georgia 0.62

Bama and Tech are really close now. I pretty much agree with 1-5... although I could make a case to swap Texas and Florida. Normally, an over-ranked team like Utah would really bug me... but they, along with Boise State, are currently in position to keep Ohio State from embarrassing themselves as an at-large bid, so I find that pretty humorous!

SEC, baby!!!

I'm freaking thrilled we're going to see an Bama/Florida SEC championship game! I will be pulling for both teams to blow out the competition up until that game.

The best of the SEC looks damn impressive at this point. I truly believe in all honesty whoever wins the bama/florida game, will win it all. Not a question in my mind. Texas tech is good, very good, but as you said........defense wins championships. That's the damn truth!

Wrong on the best conference part. Apart from the Gates and Tide - very down year for the SEC.

Big 12 takes that title this year.

Edit - I'ma be chantin' Rammer Jammer all game long in ATL, Rubber. Gonna root for you guys to silence the Crier. Roll Tide!!!!
