Don't neva sleep on us in the future... in a few years people will look back on the Hurricanes '08 recruiting class with awe... Randy Shannon will one day go down as one of the best Miami coaches in history. Up there with Jimmy Johnson.

Okay... I can definitely tell you were at Pat O'Brien's tonight! I said they've improved... but Christ, settle down! When the buzz wears off, you'll realize that what they did was beat an unranked 5-4 Virginia team. Easy there, killer.:lol::lol:

Definitely agree with you on the Big 12 this year. QBs galore.

Wait... that wasn't Bama kickin' the Vols' asses all over Neyland Stadium last week? C'mon man, keep up. :duel:

i fu$k'd up...i meant the week bama had their bye week (2 weeks ago) btw...if florida should be #2, where do you think the "mighty lions" should be?

Oh yes it's great, to be, a florida gator........oh yes it's great, to be, a florida gator!!!!!

49-10 - B*tch slap of the dawgs!!!

What a game!!!! I definitely enjoyed watching the gators stomp UGA in the ground. After the bullsh*t last year, revenge was oh so sweet! We had some help in doing so (i think d'em dawgs looked scared myself :p ), but our play on both sides of the ball was very impressive overall.

I wish i could say i was drinking today, but had to give it up for a bit due to my cycle to start tomorrow. Sir savage and ATJ, good game boys...........but the dawgs were swallowed whole by the gator CHOMP today!

In all honesty, the florida defense impressed me more than anything today. My god they are leaps and bounds better than last year! Charlie strong, you are the man sir!

GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah yeah, good game... :rasp:

I knew penalties were going to kill us in this game. You can't make those kind of mistakes against a team as talented as Florida.

Against less talented teams, sure, because your own talent more than makes up for it, but against teams that are just as talented (if not moreso), you just can't do it.

Richt's bonehead call to onside kick in the first f*ckin' quarter and a couple of missed ref calls didn't help, either.

Seriously, what the hell was Richt thinking? There's a reason why he doesn't call plays anymore.

I agree. I was utterly shocked when i saw the onside kick. Not a good move, especially that early in the game. Once stafford was apparently injured, i knew the gators could taste blood. You guys do have a very taleneted team, i just seriously can't stand mark richt.

Every year, i look forward to this game. Bring on 2009! :head:

I almost smashed my TV when I saw the onside kick. You want to put Florida on the 40 or 50 yardline??? Not only will they score again, but they'll have a ton of momentum.

And sure enough...!

I was seriously expecting them to punt on second down in the next possession or some sh*t with all the idiotic play calling going on.

Yeah I ran into a group of about 10 or 11 Canes in the regular bar. Didn't go into the piano bar because it doesn't have a TV.

We chanted Canes stuff for a while and were all just giddy over the future we have. Perhaps one too many "whooooooo we got some Canes over here!" chants were had.

To be fair, we pulled out a late comeback win on the road against what was the hottest team in the ACC. And that was after we had 22180 penalties (while they had 1) and 3 TO's. We really shot ourselves in the foot a lot. Had the dumb false starts been stopped - we had 2 drives we would have at least gotten field goals on.

That was a win we sure as sh*t wouldn't have gotten in '06 and '07. We hadn't beaten UVa since '05 - and that was a close game at that!

Yes - perhaps I was overoptimistic, but it's just awesome to see these young azz kids and coaching staff maturing in front of your eyes.

Nah man, I feel you. Just being... me!:D It's great to feel like your favorite program is in the right hands after years of not cutting it. Trust me, being a Tide fan, I know! It's been over 12 sub-par years (and 5 head coaches) since I was truly optimistic. For Alabama to be ranked #1 for even a week this season is gigantic in terms of how they've progressed. They weren't even ranked in August!

Enjoy the Canes' uprising. They definitely have the athletes to do something special in the next 3 years, while building back up the allure they had previously to recruits in Florida.

btw...if florida should be #2, where do you think the "mighty lions" should be?

They should be in BCS purgatory with the rest of their conference.

See, you have the luxury of sitting there and telling me you think your team could beat Florida. I actually get to find out if my team can. That's the difference between Alabama and Penn State. If the Tide makes it to Miami, no one will argue that they shouldn't be there.

You can defend the Big Ten all you want, but that organization is the reason most voters don't respect Penn State enough to put them at the top of the polls right now. The AP put them at #3!!! Everyone can see the catastrophe coming... Penn State WILL be in Miami in January. You know it, I know it. The rest of us are just hoping against hope that somehow the BCS system will magically produce the game that should take place: Big 12 #1 vs. SEC #1.

Does anyone else notice that the AP poll is usually more logical than the coaches poll? I wish the AP had stayed in the BCS system... and the latter had been dropped instead. Having Texas 3 spots behind Oklahoma and 1 spot behind USC makes no sense at all. Way too much love for Carroll, Paterno, and Stoops.

AP Poll (Week 10)
1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Penn State
4. Florida
5. Texas
6. Oklahoma
7. USC
8. Oklahoma St.

Coaches Poll (Week 10)

It's looking like 'Bama is the SEC's best chance for representation in the national championship. They've got to stay undefeated. If Florida beats them in the SEC championship, there's a good chance that we (the SEC) might be left out.

Agreed. I'm hoping Florida moves up big in the BCS standings today.

LOT of football left to be played, Balla. You just never know. I never ever ever would have thought LSU would have made it into the championship last year after the Arkansas loss.

Very true. It's still far too early to call anything certain. Of course i'm pulling for the BIG 12 champ vs. the SEC champ.

They should - they have a fairly quality non-conference win against us so long as we continue to win. If PSU has an OOC win, I don't know about it.

Can you imagine though if this current florida team (of the last 4 weeks) was the one that played miami that day? ;) :p

You guys are better than early in the season, so are we. Our 2nd half adjustments have been money.

I think you guys would win bigger, mainly because we've had some horrid injuries (best OL and best RB and starting Dend).

A healthy Miami team coming off a huge win at UVa and UF coming off the blowout of UGa would be interesting. We have the speed to hang with y'all. Y'all have the experience for sure and a better QB.

I wish that game was later in the year, oh well though.

I just saw that we play USF in 2010. Oh baby, can't wait for that one.

I have way too many USF friends that like to talk unwarranted smack. Some of them truly believe they are on par with UF's program. Good god, i always get a good laugh. I agree that USF has come a long way, but they have a long way to go. I do like Jim Leavitt though.

Doesn't UM play them next year as well?

Yes - Scout says 11/28/09 at USF. I'ma try to make that game.
I should be in Gainesville for Thanksgiving anyway. Only a short drive to Raymond James.

Actually, it says we play them through 2013. 2 home and home series.

Will be interesting to see where they lie in the seriatium in the state. I'm fairly sure we'll be better than them next year by a TD.

Yes, it is. :D

BCS Standings
1. Alabama .9747
2. Texas Tech .9372
3. Penn State .9286
4. Texas .8531
5. Florida .8268

DEATH, TO THE BCS!!!! :duel:

Well, look at the bright side. Three other teams in the top 5 have four more games to play... and Penn State has three. Oh, and every other team in the top 5 still has at least one game left against another top 10 team from their conference... and Penn State has none.

From that perspective, it isn't rippin'... just total disrespectin'. :whiner:

DEATH, TO THE BCS!!!! :duel:

Trauma, you guys are sitting pretty, actually. Texas Tech will lose to Okla. St and/or Oklahoma. You guys still play a ranked Florida State team, and two teams with winning records in South Carolina and Vandy, while Texas' schedule is pretty lame until/if they make the Big 12 Championship Game. Who knows, Bama may drop a game before they meet the Gators... but even if they don't, a win over the Tide will get you in the big game.

Then your guys can beat Penn State 65-17, and the powers-that-be will finally be forced to overhaul this lame-ass system! :head:

(Wait for it...)

Hey, who am I kidding? Florida will bow down to the mighty Tide and Bama will take care of Penn State. My team might not score as many points as the Gators... but Joe Pa's boys won't score a touchdown... so I'm thinkin' 41-3. :icon_lol:

Indeed, we shall see.

Either way, Penn State is fukced! :p

Plenny, i'm going to buy you a gator shirt. :)

Sports Illustrated might be able to recycle their January '79 cover. :p

I remember watching that game when I was 6 years old. Man... I'm ancient!

Sign of a true fan! I'm the same damn way. I just figured it was my OCD. :)

Yeah I'm the same with my white Canes hat. I have a green one (the old script M baseball hats from the '90's) that I wear everywhere.

I don't wear a hat when I lift anyway.

I have so many damn hats myself. Between my collection of gator, red sox, and patriot hats, i have one for every occasion.

I myself always rock a hat at the gym.......especially my sox hat. I love sticking it to the bandwagon rays fans here in tampa, haha.

The only thing i like about UM is their color scheme. It's not orange and blue, but still sharp. ;)

Actually, that's a perfect example of what I've been referring to. If Penn State had belonged to the Big Ten in '86, they would have been forced to play in the Rose Bowl... and would have missed out on the national championship... which is exactly what happened in '94. Their win over a #2 ranked Bama team is what put them in position to end up playing Miami. As an independent, Penn State used to play really good Alabama, Notre Dame, and Pitt teams.

Guys, remind me never to go battling intellectual infants on the 'Politics' subforum again.:frustrate Anyway, back to something more meaningful... like college football.

Trauma, plenny, jmh... where the hell are you guys???!!! I'm having smack-talk withdrawals.

:toofunny:

I'm still ****ing pissed at the fsu loss. So I won't be around until wake forest loses again so we have a shot at the acc championship. enjoy all your glory this year pussies, next year will be different. :aargh:

That damn work thing keeps getting in the way. I'll be here tomorrow to lay down some smack.

Sorry austin, I forgot to include you in my pathetic shout-out!:head: I look for Virginia or BC to knock off Wake Forest. They've looked like crap since beating the 'Noles anyway. The FSU-Maryland game should be a big one in a few weeks. The Florida game might even be a lot more interesting than people think this year.

plenny checking in.....like trauma, i'm busy with work/family and upset over being jumped by texas tech...go oklahaoma st. cowboys!!!!!

Mark Richt on a possible Tide-Gator SEC Championship matchup:
Invalid Link Removed

"It would be an interesting matchup," Richt said today. "It's certainly a contrast of styles offensively. One is more predicated on a power running game and play-action and the other is predicated off speed but they still have some play-action."

Obviously, that's Alabama with the power and Florida with the speed.

"Defensively, both teams are very fast, very solid in what they do," Richt said. "They play very hard. Both teams' special teams are outstanding.

"I'd flip a coin on it right now."

Hey Trauma... "Heads!" :p
