Bench is still off by quite a bit after the weight loss. I did 430x3 about 1.5 years ago so I’m only off 65lbs now. I’ve been about 80lbs off for the last couple months so that is positive direction. I was about 25lbs heavier at that time as well.

Kabuki,
Two questions about your dead platform.
1. did you make it out of metal or wood?
2. What attaches the shackles to the base to allow them to swivel?

Its just wood with a Stall Mat over the top. I have tie down hooks recessed into the mat and thru bolted to the back of the wood so that when they are not in use they are flush with the mat.

Sled Pulling this morning
115lbs x 13min. first half was a smoking pace but the second half kicked my butt. Felt great!

Not likely I’ll get my short extra workout in tonight either. Now that I mention it I won’t get any in this week. Leaving town on Thursday and won’t be back till Monday night. But I did schedule my ME squats for Thursday AM before I leave and Monday back will be done when I get ‘back’ so I wont miss any real training sessions.

Strength is picking up quickly. Did raw reverse grip bench and went up from 3reps to 5 reps this week over last week which puts me off my best raw reverse by 45lbs (which was back when i was on the PH bandwagon). Followed by a huge PR on board presses.

Moved the monolift into the shop for a warmup

Wow…what a weekend…I have not abused myself in that manner for a long time. I left town after my workout Thursday morning and met up with some friends from around the West coast, along with two that flew in from Alaska and England. Its been many years since we have had a get together. Over several days we competed in what is basically a Hillbilly Olympics (shooting, canoeing, shooting, golf related events, and more shooting). It also involved drinking for 15hours/day every day.

Needless to say when I was driving back home on Monday I was not feeling well by any means. Got home about 2 hours before training and spent that time cleaning and moving stuff in my shop which was very hot. I was sweating so bad and nearly puked before running downstairs to do my Deadlift workout.

The weights felt crushingly heavy in my hands last night and I kept loosing my balance and nearly falling over backwards on my warmups. Somehow I actually lifted some weights…but I still don’t think I’ll be doing anything like this last weekend for a very long time. I did take 3rd however

Deadlift

425x3 briefs on
515x1

700x miss suit on but couldn’t get setup the way I wanted although I had a lot more power out of the hole.
Took biefs off and although it made it a lot tougher off the floor I was in better position.
725x1 (25lb PR)
750x1 (50lb PR)

Filmed but will have to upload later when I catch up on things

No assistance work was done as that is all I had. I pulled each of those PR’s all the way to lock but could not hold at lock long enough. May have gotten a good lift on the 725 but definitely not the 750. But I think on any other day it wouldn’t have been a problem. I would also like to experiment with the briefs on again and getting into position. I don’t feel I get all that much from using the suit by itself. I hope that I will be closing on 800lbs soon which will be a killer pull in the 220s!!!

One positive thing is that with how dehydrated I was the suit went on super easy and came off easy as well.

LOL at least you saved some energy getting the suit on, I just got a new suit myself and thats half a workout just getting the damn thing seated right.... Nice pulls, glad I don't have to compete against you in my upcoming meet.

Just been to busy to get extra workouts, sled work, or assistance work in. Very disappointing. Hopefully I get caught up on things this week and back on track ASAP. Always fall behind when I take a vacation.

555(+120)x1 suit
665(+120)x1
755(+120)x1 wraps – parallel and easy
805(+120)x1 cut a little high

I should have hit that 755 for a double or triple or gone back for a second attempt at that 805 as I was disappointed in it. A little high and an absolute grinder through the whole lift. Also really struggling with the tightness in the hips of the suit being to much…especially after my BW going up a few lbs after last weekend.

Oh Yeah, thats Me !

Those Zerchers were tough as hell, they were our second exercise for the day so most of the guys were pretty spent already. I was all pissed because I bombed all my squats that day so I went balls to the wall with those and absolutely destroyed myself.

been missing a lot of my extra workouts, assitance work, and sled pulling lately. Time to get back on track starting today. Also i don't think the meet i had planned next weekend is on anymore so that is one less distraction.

Getting training back on track. First time with sled in several weeks so took it a little lighter

105lbs x13min forward and backward mod/fast pace

I think I would like to add some sled work in. I need to build up my legs a bit.

its not really a 'leg workout'.

General Physcial preparedness is about getting the body ready to handle greater loads/demands regardless of the activity.

Here is some articles I've written.

Invalid Link Removed

If you want to focus more on legs you might stick with real heavy pulls for short distances. Something where you have to start by running to get the sled momentum going first. 45-90 seconds on with 60-90 seconds rest.

I feel better already being back on track. Going to film all four of my non-training day loops this week.

calves are large. man 900 lbs rack deads holy cheese man your traps and back are thick as a brick I bet doing these or will be soon. upper back as well.

question why do you do a set of regular bent rows at heavier weight and lighter bent rows false grip?

your one strong man. do you believe you have the genetics to be a top competitor in bodybuilding?

that is my one defining feature...a really thick back.

I like doing heavy bent rows then hitting the other planes of the back and finishing with a real strict and deep false grip row. i can really let the bar pull down and out with the false grip getting a reall long range of motion and done real strict just seems to polish off my back.

No genetics to be top bodybuilding. I usually get stronger but not bigger. I did my first PL competition because a kept training harder and with more weight than they guys in the gym who were competetive BB'ers...and they were HUGE compared to me. I could do quite well on local/regional level...but not beyond.

My workouts have sucked this week to be honest. Part of it may be how I started the week.

local/regional level meaning your state or your area?

man that's something to consider if it fits well with you at the timing , to do a show.

Strength may go down some and you'll get it back when more body fat is put on. (as you know) and it may go up =)

What kind of Bench did you get?

Only the best for me....The Kabuki Kind!!!

Its not finished in the pics below.

Its modeled off EFS top of the line bench ($1300) but has 3 additional features that make it a huge step above.

3x3 steel construction
Face crash guards (the black tubes) mine remove in seconds.
Lifter platform w/no interference (not installed in pics)
Weight tree (to be bolted to back set of uprights)

What sets it apart???

"The Lifters Pad" Won't go into detail but this pad uses special material on surface for grip and layers of different foam types to really set and lock the shoulders in place while still providing a solid surface to bench from. This pad is the whole reason I built this bench and will add lbs to your bench just by lying on it…no joke.

Auto Upright Adjustment 4,000lb hoist with 10" travel mounted inside the uprights that allow for height adjustments without unloading or lifting bar.

Invalid Link Removed

Adjustable spotters Similar concept to using safety pins in squat rack set just below bottom of lift. Will have a "T" that mounts inside the square pocket beside the pad that can be set at desired height. Removes in seconds.

Below are some pics before final assembly with all the options installed.
