uhhhhoooohhh!! now for big 10 news. pennstate plays wisconsin at wisconsin (camp randell)..a true test to how good my lions are especially on the road.

Oh man, I'd love to, but I don't think I'll make it this year.

Sucks...

The UF/UGA rivalry is my fav. It frankly rivals any other in college football imo. There is a reason it's the largest outdoor cocktail party in the world!!! :head:

being in tallahassee, i showed up to this party twice. it was awesome. i think uga keeps the khaki business afloat. they all dress the same. same haircut too. rediculous

Ever gone to an Alabama-Auburn game (aka Iron Bowl)? Words can't express...

Yeah, but the UGA-UF rivalry is so heated that they have to play it on "neutral" territory and serve tons of alcohol.

Negative.

Florida vs. Georgia fills my rivalry fix to the fullest.

I do enjoy watching tennessee get stomped though. :D

Good point. I meant to say that in my last post. It says something when you have to play a game on a neutral field. The disdain for each other is further amplified by massive amounts of alcohol! :D

I've been to BOTH games in my lifetime... definitely no comparison. The reason it's called the Iron Bowl is because for years the game was played in Birmingham, a neutral site within the state. Both ESPN and Yahoo voted it the best rivalry in college football, with Ohio State-Michigan ranked second. In a survey done by Sports Illustrated it ranked #2 after the Red Sox-Yankees as the greatest rivalry in ANY sport.

Oh, and many other fans disagree with you too:

It's a great game and all, and definitely a big SEC rivalry... but c'mon.

There is no rivalry like the yankee/red sox rivalry in ANY sport, to that i can agree. :D

That sox/yanks rivalry probably saved baseball years ago after the strike when many people were saying, "Screw baseball!" The 2004 ALCS did more for baseball than most people think.

Ok, now back to college football. Depending on where your heart lies everyone will see it different. In all reality, it's subjective and will be seen in a different light by many. Being a florida fan, i obviously think the UGA/UF is one of the best rivalries in college sports. I'm not going to say it's "The best" per say (because it truly is a subjective stance as any other), but it's top 3 imo. You know as well as i do that polls taken at different times would yield different results.

I'll second the vote on the UGA/UF rivalry. It's become even more heated recently with both teams at least mentioned in the national title picture in the last couple of years. Nothing against the Auburn/Alabama rivalry though. I've never experienced that one, but at least they don't have to play in a "neutral" site.

Man, you're not paying attention. The "neutral" site in Birmingham had to be changed because the crowd essentially outgrew the venue. See, Alabama and Auburn have MUCH bigger stadiums than Jacksonville Municipal. :frustrate

They don't have the "Worlds' largest outdoor cocktail party" though. :D

and probably the quality of pussy running around. don't know though, how is alabama?

Man, I don't know... as it's been almost 17 years since I lived in Alabama. I frequented Florida a lot growing up, and I was stationed in Key West and Miami for a while. Florida girls are definitely good to go. I have to say this though: Nothing... and I mean NOTHING compares to ladies from Texas. I detest almost everything else about the state, including their football teams and seeing that f%#king state flag everywhere, but they have some extraordinary looking women. There must be something in the water. White, black, and Hispanic chicks... all well represented. The only thing missing are quality Asian women. (Which is probably why I'm still in California!:D)

Florida: "It all comes back to the extra six to eight pounds of weight on the back of the arms. The pork-loined shoulders factor. The best thing that can be said for Florida girls is that Erin Andrews once went there. The second best thing is that they are doubtlessly always carrying snacks in their oversized purses."

Not picking on Florida, but that's the funniest part of the article! :toofunny:

I'm sure all those bama beauties :cough: have all their teeth too right?....but not picking on bama either. ;) :toofunny:

penn state 48..wisconsin 7....wow!! penn state passed their test. after this accompanied by an oklahoma loss and a potential lsu loss..penn state should be #2 or #3..huh!!! how bout a little love from u big 12 and sec junkies.

i can honestly say psu on both sides of the ball and spec. teams can compete and EVENbeat Texas..Bama..missouri

Oh you better believe i'm going to gloat after this one. Florida COMPLETELY DOMINATED LSU in blowout proportion. This is the florida team i knew would eventually get into sync. They utilized all their weapons, and did it very effectively.

Tebow, Harvin, Demps, Rainey.......play makers that made the difference in the end. How about brandon spikes returing an INT for a TD.

GO GATORS!!!!!! :clap2: :clap2:

plenny's projected top 3.

1. texas
2. alabama (had a bye)
3.psu

Settle down, plenny... and switch your top 2. And don't get too excited about the victory over Wisconsin. It was a solid win and all, but I was actually more impressed by... (gulp)... Florida. Great win, Trauma1! Your guys were the better team tonight.

Okay, let's just end the season now due to the economy. Hey Trauma1... who's #1? ((sigh))

I like Bama at #1... although it will probably be Texas.

1 Tide
2 Horns
3 State Penn
4 USC (I have no idea who should be #4.....)
5 Florida (considering margin of victory to some degree, UF has to be top 5)
6 Sooners (Bradford is awesome, OU is still strong)
7 Texas Tech (Gotta play better than that!)

"state pen"????? but they have the highest graduation rate in ncaa.:bruce2:

Well, I guess the answer is Texas. I really can't see how pollsters can punish a team for having a bye. Oh well, whatever. Maybe that will keep Bama hungry, and put a big chip on their shoulders. I've got nothing negative to say about the Longhorns, and McCoy is an ace.

Oklahoma State should be ranked WAY ahead of Texas Tech. Why is Tech even in the top 15? They were one play away from losing to Nebraska, a team Missouri beat 52-17. Nebraska's QB was 36-44 for 349 yards against that pathetic defense. Their schedule so far has been a joke, but reality will catch up with them pretty soon. Wish I could say the same for BYU, but their entire season is a cake walk.

Oh, and I told you the Sooners shouldn't have been #1 because they were untested. Oklahoma is becoming the CHOKE team of the decade.

Whoa, hoss. Let's not get carried away here. ;)

Conference strength matters a lot. I think they have a good chance against Mizzou, but definitely not Texas or 'Bama.

God, I hate the system we have in college ball. It's so beyond stupid.

But I will say this-

Florida is feckin' scary now. They are definitely hitting their stride and it's unreal how they just dissected LSU like it was nothing. The speed that they have at tailback is unmatched in the country.

Everyone makes a big deal about USC's tailbacks- they have absolutely nothing on Florida's.

I'm nervous about UGA-UF now.

plenny, that's a hell of a statement. Got a link for your info? If you're talking football, Penn State isn't even in the top 10. You can't be talking about overall student-athlete grad rates, because Navy, Stanford, Boston College, Northwestern, Notre Dame, etc. all have higher rankings. I won't even entertain that you're talking overall grad rates (athlete or not).

Grad rates for student-athletes (overall and by sport)

Agreed (not picking on you, plenny). I don't think Penn State would match up well with Texas, Bama, Florida, or USC. In some cases, it would just get ugly.

Yeah... this is the point where I give florida fans a rhetorical HJ. Your team whooped us.

At this point all I can hope for is an SEC championship showdown... I hope Florida whoops Georgia to make it happen. That is, assuming we beat Georgia and Bama ourselves. Ugh.

It's so refreshing to see LSU and Georgia fans who are able to do what most Gator fans just can't: congratulate the other team and make no excuses. Class will never be overrated. :clap2: Repped.

LSU is down, but not out.

Things are going to be very interesting on both sides of the SEC in the coming weeks.

Like I said, though- pretty worried about Florida now.

I think Bama should be #1, but they weren't punished... they just remained at #2.

I'm really going to try to get up to the UGA/UF game. I think it will be a showdown of epic proportion.

I seriously love watching demps and rainey become the playmakers they have in the last few weeks. These 2 kids have some serious speed and moves. It was good to see florida attack from many different angles in the run game, and the pass game. They clearly didn't look one dimentional at all last night.

The SEC has some huge battles that lie ahead, this should be a very interesting season.

I'm not sure why you constantly go at gator fans with these type of statements? Let's be real here rubb, EVERY team has a$$hole fans, this surely includes bama. Maybe in your experiences it seems that way, but to each clearly their own. I know plenty of obnoxious bama fans myself that fit the bill as well.

Blanket statements about anyone one teams "fans" in particular is frankly ridiculous bud.
