Where in the bible does it talk about the crusades? There is no official Christian stance except what Jesus preached, and he didn't preach about the crusades.

So you only give truth to a strictly utilitarian, predefined small subset of a supposedly divinely authored book of "truth", and the rest is either incorrect or irrelevant?

how do you know there is salvation in your book?did you speak to god. or was it your pastor who did that? or do you take the word of primitives who were converted by peter to believe in a religion COMPLETELY ripped off from just about every religion that came before it from pagans who formerly believed in many idols opposed to this single one?

I'm saying if you were alive at the time, you would be a minority and they would assert that you are not a true Christian


And what jesus preached, apparently and obviously, can be taken a lot of ways, which is why there are so many Christian sects

I think organisms change through time by natural selection, and the world is very old. There are a fewe people who might say that now about me. That's fine with me also.

There a lot of different sects, but there is some core beliefs we share.

You are quoting him. The common response is you're taking the quotes out of context... but look at what we are doing right now. I would consider you guy's my brothers, and what he preached has set us against one another by what we believe.

He is talking about Jewish peopel and Christians if I remeber right. But it can be taken into today's world, if I don't live in sins grasp, other peopel are going to look at me as a judge to what they're doing including my brother and sister. I don't judge but i do know life changes when you turn your back on sin.

One of his greatest sommands is to love on another.

What is sin, and where would I find the definition of everything that is a sin (you know, disregarding the whole old testament and all) ?

Religion does seperate us, and it drives people war. But it keeps me (or stopped me) from going to war within myself, and with my neighbor. Even though my neighbor does piss me off every once in a while.

I used to flip flop back and forth...how was it created, why, how come there is thingd in the Old Test. that make no sense to me,,,etc ( the same stuf we all look at). But I kept searching and now I just know, it makes sense to me, I can;t explain everything and the human mind can't, we are creatures of creation and feel the need to explain everything in terms of creation.

One thing that really changed for me, when I gave my life to the Lord, I felt like I took a breath inside my chest that I'd been holding for a long time...it also fell like something broke in there also, it hard to explain, but it did, and now I just know.

I'm having trouble tying the scripture you quoted to anything in particular you want me to elaborate on, what I could I thought I elaborated above.

He is talking about what Christianity is going to do Jewish families at the time if I remember right.

And it does pertain to today's world also.

Well I know there is salvation...from the book, and from God who speaks to me in different ways, and I'm more than sure he speaks to my pastor also, and I guess from the word of the primitives if oyu consider Paul who used to be Saul a primitive, or even the great converter Peter, who was the last to speak to Jesus on earth if I remeber reading it correctly.

If I'm wriong here somebody let me know:
Peter denied Jesus 3 times, and his story is an unbeleivable example of forgivness. Jesus asked him if he loved him 3 times on the beach before he ascended for the last time. It hurt Peter, but in my opinion it was the last time Peter said it that he beleived he was forgiven. It's the final step in your walk, when you admitt that you are forgiven, later in life when you are tempted or the old you starts to rise again, you can relax in Jesus grace, and it fills you with strength.

Do you think Jesus completely ripped off pagan religions?

He's talking about hating the sinful nature.
He doesn't want you to hate anybody.
 
The reason why there is paganism in Christianity is because Constantine the 1st Roman emperor adopted pagan rituals into the church to keep the pagans happy. Look at the history of Easter and Christmas, full of paganism.

Christianity is a form of paganism. Thats just all there is to it. Zeigeist lays it out better than any other source I've seen.

well, the story of jesus seems to be VERY similiar to that of mithra, with the last supper, virgin birth, reincarnation before he ascended to paradise, son of god, raising dead and curing blind, eating the god with bread or wafers, the day of judgement, and the birth on december 25th, which like one stated earlier was instated by pope julius to keep with pagan traditions. plus the ten commandments were stolen from the egyptian book of the dead, so i find it all to be a bit of a farce, just meant to please everybody and find a medium between most religions.

do you have non old testament sources (bok, chapter, verse) for all of these?

I mean especially with noah being a drunk and all, yet considered the only righteous man left on preflood earth. Oops, there I go brining that irrelevant old testament into it again.

isnt christianity technically the worshipping of an idol, since you have the crucifix with jesus on it, and you worship jesus and bow infront of crosses(some do) etc. i know in judaism and muslim for instance, there is no image of their god, so technically they are the only ones who dont commit that sin...

There is so much truth in what you are stating. However Jesus was not born in December and that's the reason why I don't celebrate Christmas. Mithra, Saturnalia celebrate the birth of the sun. People were out to find out the birth of Christ and since they couldn't find a Biblical basis for it the merge the days together. What a shame! You can thank early Romans and Catholics for Christmas. Early Christians never celebrated the birth, the resurrection was way more important.

About the egyptian book of the dead, I'll look into that.

Technically muslims are idolators their god was an idol found out of over 350 in a Mecca Temple. He has a crescent moon on his chest hence Allah is known as the moon god of mecca.

About the crucifix, christians have themselves to blame for that one. You're right it is idolatry! I actually tell those people who do so that it is idolatry. The pics of Jesus also is idolatry.

haha. that vid is okay but there are quite a few errors in it.

I spent a long time studying to let go of religion. Quotes from nearly every famous mind in history were a big comfort to me and reeassured me.
