Tito Ortiz to take on Babulu at Affliction's Oct. 11 show
Steve Cofield of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that, according to sources, free agent Tito Ortiz will fight Renato "Babalu" Sobral in the co-main event at Affliction's next fight card, on Oct. 11 at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas.

Affliction vice president Tom Atencio would not confirm the Ortiz-Babalu fight. He said details for the fight card will be released during an Aug. 6 news conference that most likely will be held in Las Vegas.
Atencio also indicated that he didn't think Affliction could speak with Ortiz until Aug. 4 because of a 60-day non-compete clause in Ortiz's UFC contract. Ortiz's last fight for UFC was on May 24 at UFC 84. If the 60-day clause is accurate, the deal ended last weekend. Atencio said the biggest stumbling block for an Ortiz deal would be the financial terms.
Despite Babalu fighting in one of the most boring fights on Affliction: Banned, I like this matchup.

Both Ortiz and Sobral have strong wrestling skills and when the fight goes to the ground it should be pretty entertaining to see Tito work his ground and pound while Babalu tries to catch Ortiz in a slick sub.

Aside from the technical aspects of the fight, these are two of the baddest bad boys in the sport and matching them up is sure to be a recipe for some great pre-fight smack.

I think this has the potential for a great fight.

And I'm excited to see what more Affliction brings to the table.

Two wrestlers with some beef. Sounds like a winner to me and the AA-Fedor fight will be on this card along with Aleks.

Yeah, it didn't look too terrible and it was at the end when they were both tired and sweaty as hell. I'd still like to see Tito expand on his ground game with some solid submission work.

Who knows though, this fight could end up a 3 round stand up match. I'm still fairly interested I like both these fighters.

According to Vitor, he will be fighting Lindland for the 185 lb title. Although, he broke his hand (again), he says he'll be ready to go.

Does anyone know how many times Vitor has broken his hands? I know he broke both of them against Saku, but not sure how many other times it has happened.

According to an article I read 2 years ago and this hand break, that'll make 8 times during his pro MMA career.

Vitor/Lindland could really go either way. I'll take Vitor, but I expect Lindland to octopuss him for the victory.

I think Tito will beat Babalu. It's a great match-up, as is Vitor/Lindland, Affliction aint playing. I think Tito will win by unanimous dec., but it'll be close.

Damn, I wonder if he wraps his hands because that is a crazy number. I know Fedor doesn't wrap his hands and I am almost positive that is one of the reasons for his hand issues.

Damn, you're 24, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. Not sure when it was, but it had to have been recent. I know, Fedor's hands have always worried me. I bet Vitor wraps his hands these days, but who knows. In Fedor's fight against Mirko, you could tell he was taking it easy on his hands, if he had perfect hands he would've beat Mirko silly on the ground, he could've!

My b-day was on the 16th and I got WAY too trashed that night. I blacked out and don't have a fvcking clue what I said to my girl. Wasn't too bad since we are still together, but, I hate it when I can't recall segments of my life.

I guess it sucks when you're such a badass that you hurt yourself when you beat down some poor bastard.

Am I the only one who thinks Barnett is a terrible boxer?

I'm not sure that he's terrible, but he's awkward looking while doing it. He's not great, though. I saw some clip where he got in Aleksanders face a little and said he wasn't afraid to fight him again (apparently he read Aleks Sherdog interview where he was talking sh1t. It was amusing.

This should be a good one. I'm excited. Lindland looked pretty bad last fight IMO so maybe I'll take Vitor. Babalu-Tito is tough to call, but I could see Tito taking it since Babalu said he's coming in at 205 these days. Maybe Tito can use that extra weight to end up on top?

Yeah, awkward may be the right word.

He moves around pretty good for a big guy, but he's just not really that effective with his punches.
