Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin July 19

you should be ashamed of yourself..that was like taking candy from a baby
I do feel a little bit bad about it, but Robdog is a cool dude so I'll except his money:thumbsup:

Robdog, I always give a double or nothing opportunity. Make some suggestions.

I'm stunned by how fast he dismantles guys with good chins. Irvin's taken some punishment in his past fights and was destroyed in one punch.

His punches are so anti-sherk. Its like he's still controlling the punch even at its ending point(the guys face). Sherk loses control of his punch upon throwing it. Anderson's power is unreal. Fedor/Anderson makes perfect sense, but it'll never happen. I know I might get flamed for that, but whatever. Who poses a bigger threat to Fedor than Anderson? Randy, Barnett, Sergei? Maybe. Fedor/Anderson would be huge and in actuality, Fedor would not be that much bigger, LBM wise.

BTW, Fedor by destruction.

I don't know about that yet. I still think a PRIDE days Shogun, and Machida would be difficult match ups for Anderson before any of that. I think he would fare well against many of the Top 10 LHWs.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting ahead of myself, but in reality who poses a bigger threat to Fedor than Anderson? I think Anderson has a much better chance than Couture, and Barnett and Sergei might have as good a chance. The way Anderson looks right now, I don't think any Shogun has anything for him and he probably won't fight Machida.

He has stated that he won't fight Machida. Allegedly, Andy walks around at ~215, so there wouldn't be much of a size difference and it would be a throwback to old-school MMA. I still think Fedor would destroy him, though.

I don't know. If Shogun can return to form (it's possible, Wandy did it) I think he would be very much a handful for Anderson. Shogun pushes the pace, is a dynamic striker, and I don't think he would be overwhelmed by Anderson.

No, those two definitely wouldn't fight each other. Hypothetically though, I think it would be a decent match up for Anderson. Albeit probably a boring fight if Machida had his way.

Naw, Fedor would destroy Anderson. He'd rush in and toss him to the ground like he did Nog then control him on top and pound. Then again Adnerson is so dangerous.

Sergei cannot be beat.

What do you honestly think about Sergei/Fedor? I think that may be the only true intriguing matchup out there for Fedor. I think he would easily handle Randy, but call me crazy.

Even I am reserving judgment on saying that Wand has returned to form, yet. Another brutal win against a top-10 LHW and then I will make that declaration. IDK who the hell he is going to fight now with Thiago fighting Machida and Rampage in hiatus. I guess it's possible for Chuck/Wand II if he KOs Rashad quickly.

You're right, but who wouldn't Fedor destroy? I'm down with Sergei, but he aint beating Fedor.

Shogun would get KOed hard. He's always been a little wild striking and Anderson would take advantage. Wand would suffer the same fate too I'm afraid

Sergei doesn't have it mentally to beat Fedor, and he's been inactive as hell so Fedor would beat him. I'm excited about Arlovski. I think Andrei and Barnett are the best fights for him. Couture in a cage would be interesting since Couture is such a smart fighter, but in a ring = bloodbath.

You see, Mullet, even Rodja is reserving judgement. Just playing, but Wand does need another big win to be considered "back".

Arlovski has nothing for Fedor. Fedor is the smartest guy in MMA and Arlovski is a dummy. Fedor would figure him out and finish him before the fight started. Sorry bruv.

I honestly think Akiyama is the only guy that would really be a threat to him. The dudes good a nasty armbar, vicious uppercuts, and is so fashion forward.

Oh sh1t, is Dream 5 going on tonight? I almost forgot, but it's the big LW finale.

I'm going Aoki and Alvarez and then Aoki to be the champ. It wasn't that great of a card besides the tourney finale, but there was one other good one????

Hunt/Overeem was added. I'm taking Alvarez as a darkhorse to take the GP.

FVCKING AKIYAMA IS FIGHTING, WTF MAN.

Very true, but he'll destroy Shibata but then again he'll look amazing doing it. :run:

Rodja, Alvarez is a great pick. I think he's the real deal and has a great chance. I want to pick him too, but I give Aoki a slight edge.

Hunt/Overeem? I thought it was Hunt/JLB, and that was what I was refering to.

You know how the Japanese like to change sh!t at the last moment.

That's true, Akiyama will destroy Shibata. I'm saving up for Akiyama's entrance, if you know what I mean.

Overeem replaced JLB at the last moment. Like Rodja said, typical japanese stuff, but an excellent replacement. That's a tough fight to call. I'll go with Hunt by KO.

Overeem's only real chance is to clinch and knee him a la Buentello. It seems like the only place where Hunt can be hurt is the liver (that back kick by Schilt hurt me to watch it).

Oh, Im well aware of that. He was so set on Silva being Whites poster boy and he wanted his hero Tito back he threw a tantrum. I was simply rubbing some salt in the wounds. Its just amazing how fast he kicked his as is all... I mean did anyone really think that Irvin would actually win? Seriously... after he handed Hendo his ass? If he bet against Silva he really does need some help.

I never said Irvin would win dude, I said he was a good bet at +425.

ok double or nothing. I got alvarez over kawajiri. U take?

If you looked at any of the betting lines, they closed significantly before the fight. They opened at +425 for irvin and closed at +250 for irvin. So +425 was good odds. Whats with all the Tito talk? When did I say I like Tito? I cant stand the fvcker.

Well, if you bet against Silva and on Terdwin you were simply asking someone to take your money... no matter what the betting lines were... period.

Dude I seen that pic you posted on that other forum and theres a ****in Tito poster in the background. Dont lie.

Haha if you say so man...........

Arlovski would be toast against fedor.

I think not my friend. Everyone thinks he is invinceable but he can fall just like anyone else. I'm not saying that he's not great, I'm just saying that he IS beatable. Arlovski's hands are much faster than Sylvia's with more explosiveness, so you'll find out after Fedor beats Randy and hopefully then fights The Pit Bull.;)

Well, if they ever fight I'd be glad to bet you big money. I'll even give you some nice odds.

Irvin tests positive for methadone and oxymorphine

Following his UFC Fight Night 14 bout against Anderson Silva on July 19, James Irvin tested positive for banned substances, the Nevada State Athletic Commission confirmed to MMAWeekly today.

Following the loss to Silva, Irvin submitted to a urinalysis, and the urinalysis reflected the presence of Methadone and Oxymorphone.

Oxymorphone is a pain reliever prescribed to alleviate moderate to severe pain. Methadone is most commonly prescribed to recovering heroin addicts or for the management of chronic pain.

None of the fighters who competed on the July 19 card were subject to the NSAC's out-of-competition drug testing policy, which could have been due to the event being put together on relatively short notice.

Eleven of the 22 fighters who competed on the card were tested at the event. Anderson Silva, James Irvin, Hermes Franca, Cain Velasquez, Brandon Vera, CB Dollaway, Tim Credeur, Frankie Edgar, Shannon Gugerty, and Nate Loughran were all tested for steroids, drugs of abuse, and stimulants. Irvin is the only competitor who tested positive for a banned substance.

Irvin has 20 days to formally respond to the NSAC. Previous cases of fighters testing positive for drugs of abuse in Nevada have typically resulted in suspensions of eight or nine months.

^^^I just read about this on MMA Weekly...what the hell!?!

Well, think on the bright side, at least Irvin didnt win or else it'd be used to "justify" the win.

Bla, what's your avy say under Kyra's pic? I haven't seen that one yet. Does it say: "Sometimes passing just isn't an option"

She has a pretty banging body, but I think Gina has prettier face.

It says "wouldn't you submit".

And god I love her body... Not much of a looker I'd give that, Gina does have a prettier face, but both just drive me insane, specially being black belts.

My roommate played on the same college football team as Irving, APU (Private Christian College), this is going to put a damper on his innate fanaticism by association with him.
