The thing that bothers me about Dr. Overbeck's posts on MESO is that they almost look as though they have been composed by two different people. Some of them are well-written and lucid, and others are nearly incoherent.


Maybe it's just me . . . .

DR O is a very humble man and actually alot of guys here have seen him, but they have been instructed to keep quiet because out of respect for other clinicans on the board not to stir up any issues with other dr's. I would call that common couresty. There have been alot of dr's in the past such as Dr crisler especially that take time to answer questions about male issues. If it not had been the likes of Dr Crisler and Dr shippen paving the way for HRT then most us would probably being feel like crap, lost relationships, and not being able to give quality of life that we deserve. Dr.O never wanted to solicit in any or go against forums rules. For those that have been there now just what type of dr he is and will respect the reason of keeping this quiet. We are all here for same goal to help men with similar issue as well as to improve our own quality of life. We are also here to be educated and devote what things we experienced in order to help each other. Dr john has exhibited this characteristic for several years and has set fine example for other dr's to follow. Unfortuately there are not to many around that display his character and compassion. There are alot of other HRT dr's out there but to find one's with Dr shippen and Dr johns caliber are very rare..

I agree with all of the above, but it doesn't explain why Dr. Overbeck's posts appear to have been composed by two different people. But it could just be me - maybe I'm just being way too suspicious.

I think Dr. Overbeck is probably the real thing, but I agree with you, cpeil.

And given the sensitive nature of what we're discussing - which involves medical education - I don't think it's unwise to question the issue.

I noticed the same thing.

Exactly. It doesn't do Dr. Overbeck's reputation a bit of good and conceivably could raise some very serious issues.

I didn't discern 2 different styles of writing, tho I may have missed some of the posts. I did notice some surprising grammar and spelling for a doc. I did see the apology after one particular post, but it seemed the same issues continued. And they did NOT soem to be a product of fast typing. Then again, it may not be fair to infer so much from grammar, diction and syntax, and I think highly of HAN, who has worked with Dr. O, and endorsed him.

Caveat emptor, I suppose.

True. And I don't mean any of this to impugn him; he may be a very talented doctor who really doesn't speak English as a first language. Maybe, as suggested, he just works a bunch and doesn't spell check (I can't read my PCPs writing on scripts, lol).

Nor would I want to scare him away from a board. I just think it makes sense to be a scrupulous consumer. What we're doing is serious stuff, and a true doctor's postings will be given much more weight than anyone else's.
