OMFG what a simply original thread!! talk about going off on THE MOST RANDOM route as far as general chat is concerned..Nice read and def interesting to hear all the not so contrasting viewpoints!

Well......target continues to crush walmart on the poll. No surprise there.

Target has cleaned up their act, I wouldn't hesistate to buy perishable items in there. The stores are clean, they have begun to carry decent clothing designers... Not Versace, but shirts that wont stretch from the neck and disintegrate in the wash.

The Walmarts that I have been in have been in recently are dirty and completely disorganized, surprising too - because Walmart supposedly makes most of their profits with very meticulous attention to detail and never over purchasing their inventory. The Super Walmarts might be a different story but the regular Walmarts have looked like total sh1t lately.

I can tell you that the super walmarts in my area are nothing short of a disgrace.

Where the f*ck you been dude??

BTW - interesting to see other people reporting Target having mucho hotter female customers than Wal-mart.
None of my friends in other states seemed to notice that. I picked up on it pretty quick when I first moved here to Looziana.

Agreed bro. The difference in the class of people in general is profound enough in itself. Target chicks are of a different breed.....thank god. :)

I had to watch a video compareing both Wal-Mart and Target last semester in my Sociology class. Turns out the prices on appliences, sporting goods, toys, etc... Are pretty much the same. Wal-Mart just picks somthing suuuuuper cheap to put as an end cap to get you to walk down the skinny isle and think all the other things are dirt cheap too.

I dont go to either really a get a few things from Wal-Mart but dont really go to target ever. Mostly because its 20miles away. I go to Mejier almost exclusivly :D

Wal-mart Movie on You Tube

I thought I would post a link to this. I just watched it yesterday. This is a link to the first part(1-11). You can find the rest on the links right on the same page.

[nomedia="http://youtube.com/watch?v=ED6YaRl93CE"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]

Walmart - high cost of low price (1-11) is what it is called. Just go to youtube and search for the same thing except (1-2) for the the second part, etc...

Ive worked for Target for the last 3 years. I dont like the company itself very much but it is run better than Wal Mart is.

Most of my reasoning for not loving Target has to do with its infrastructure and not its presentation. Not the type of place you can work up in. 80% of management is directly hired in through college recruiting.

I go with wal-mart due to Target's refusal to allow Marines to collect Toys for Tots @ Christmas time in front of their stores because they are FRENCH owned and do not support our American Military. Thats is what I am told anyway. Plus wal-mart is cheaper and the people there are hilarious.

We've been trying to get into contact with Target corporate to pitch Java Lather to them. They claim to be very supportive of veteran owned businesses...problem is that all of the numbers go straight to voicemail boxes that are 100% full.

Target is not French owned. Its a dumb rumor started by people who say Targe'. There policy is they dont allow anyone to collect or sell items on their property. I personally dont agree with it, but they dont let anyone do it and they are consistent with it, but they do participate outside of the stores in a lot of community events and charities.

Figured it was a rumor. However I still don't understand not allowing charities and such to collect outside. At least they are consistent.

Yep...and this is exactly what they said. They give to the Salvation Army in other ways, but to allow them out front they would have to allow EVERY charity out front.

target has hotter girls shopping there.
to be fair, it is not hard to beat obese, toothless trailer dwellers in sweats lugging 4 screaming brats around the store.

Hotter? Hmm..

I was forced by the wife to go to walmart the other night for a few things.......seriously, and i'm not kidding......I'd rather shove toothpicks in my eyes than visit that sh*thole. That store is an absolute nightmare, period! It's like watching an episode of jerry springer when you're at walmart.......

:toofunny: Isnt it the truth ! I freaking hate Walmart with a passion.

Send certified mail with a sample to corporate ;)

Target...by a country mile.

If nothing atleast the shopping cart works at Target, try that at a Wal-Mart!

I like Target much better than Walmart even though we do all our grocery shopping there...I wish Target carried a little more clothes in bigger sizes though...

holyintellect

Not sure what's wrong with WalMart USA, but in Canada they seem to be fine... clean, cheap, good stuff. Why would you buy food at WalMart anyways? Go to Safeway.

Yup. The Wal-Mart puts its basics - milk, eggs, OJ, toilet paper, etc. in the VERY back of the store.

What I REALLY hate is when a store will actually make you walk up and around 1 or 2 aisles as soon as you walk in the store before you can even see a cash register. The Save-A-Lot here in town does this, as well as a grocery store in my old home town. They FORCE you through these rows of "buy me" goods.

Pisses me off. I know what I want. I want to get it and get out.
its strategy-they know the avg person who buys basics have to walk thru the store to get to them and they make money on the bet that u pick up non-essentials along the way. this is how every company is...that's logic. is it annoying? yes, but its logical. comparing walmart to target is like comparing a new york hooker to a vegas call girl, no matter when u go in, u might catch anything...

Walmart is the lowest of the low. Anyplace that's so fiercely anti-union while stocking mostly cheap, toxic Chinese made crap is to be avoided at all cost.

Thankfully, I have a Costco and it rocks. The place is always spotless and you see the same employees there year after year. The starting pay for a Costco worker is $11, $42k after 3 years! And Costco doesn't even have to advertise. Walmart has to beg people to come to their feces smelling hovels of retail purgatory.

Target has gotten a lot sexier since they partnered up with Starbucks.

I agree. I'd rather go to Costco, BJ's, or Sam's Club anyday over that hell hole we call walmart. :D

I was forced there yet again by my wife the other day. One of the employees rammed right into me with a bunch of boxes in her hand. The lady said absolutely nothing to me, not an "excuse me", not a "pardon me". She just kept on going like it never happened. Now i grew up in New England where people are like that all the time, however when an employee of a store treats one of its customers like that it's almost unbelievable.

One of the other customers saw the whole thing and made a point to say to her how rude that was.....as did I. :)

Yet again, another example of why i view walmart as the scum of the earth.

I hate them both equally, but for different reasons completely. Wal-mart = blows. Target = $200 every time I walk in, no matter what I go for. Hate it. lol.

since i am brown in color... at night when i walk into walmart, i usually get my own personal escort. trippy but fun to have someone following u around the store. lol

hahah, never thought of it that way

No logical person would. lol. My best friend worked at wal mart while we were in high school, and had a complaint filed against him after he was ordered to do that to someone. Corporate made the manager apologize to the customer and make up an excuse that they were having problems with their security cameras and were just randomly monitoring the store until it was repaired. The guy was kinda a liar though, so that may not be true. Sounds like something they would have done though. Eff'd up either way.

LOL...they didnt let me go into the dvd section, they asked what dvd i wanted... i said "i dono, read'em to me"!..lol sh*t went on for around an hour! every now and again id ask "wait! whats that one about"..lol

Based on the poll results, 3 out of every 4 people prefer target at this point. Now there is a shocker.....:D
