WPI or WPC which is better?

Whey is definitely a great source of protein. Whey has a high biological value (BV). A high BV means that the amino acid ratio is excellent for building muscle and that a large proportion of the protein consumed is absorbed and utilized by the body. In addition, numerous studies from reputable researchers have shown that whey has immune-system enhancing benefits.

Whey is a dairy protein that is a by-product of the cheese making process. In its raw state, whey contains substantial amounts of fat and lactose (milk sugar). You wouldn’t want to eat raw whey. That’s why it is filtered and processed: to remove most of the lactose and fat. If you’ve ever heard of microfiltration or "ion exchange," those are simply methods of separating the fat and lactose from the protein. The end result is a more concentrated protein – either concentrate or isolate (which is what you want).

The primary difference between isolate and concentrate is that the isolate is more pure. (Because it goes through an extra filtration process) In other words, isolate contains more protein with less fat and lactose per serving. Based on whose figures you go by, whey isolate usually contains between 90-94% protein while whey concentrate has a protein ratio of 70-85%.

If you are lactose intolerant and you have problems with gas and bloating, then the isolate might be a better choice. But being more "pure" doesn’t necessarily mean that whey isolate is better or will produce greater muscle growth. Whey protein concentrate is still an excellent source of protein. T.V. So which do you like better?

I just switched from WPC to WPI for the last reason you mentioned. Concentrate made me gassy (which really upset the wife...lol).

If you guys produced flavored concentrate...I might stick to that & just deal with the stink.;)

depends on when you use it. WPI is great for fast protien fixes but you get longer release with WPC. I wish i could order from ATW......shippin is a real beeeotch.

Out of all the samples that I got from all the whey, the isolates seem to leave big chunks of powder in the blender where the blends mixed fine. I never had a problem with blend so I never tried isolate.

What did you blend the isolate with anything else?

Our Isolate is priced pretty well compared to everyone else. If your body does not demand Isolate. The blend is a great choice and it saves you a few bucks. Profile changes seldom with the blend.

what helped with this for me was to put it in, shake it, leave it sit 3-4 minutes, shake again, leave another 3-4 min, shake one last time. Thats using a blender bottle. seemed to leave pretty minimal clumping

Yes

So, can we agree that the best route is both WPI and WPC?
Sure, WPC I am finding to be just as good and you can save a few bucks. Plus there is only a 1 carb difference.
Bodybuilders in the long run are better off with WPC cause they save a lot of money in the end with the same results.

Given the increasing cost in whey protein, I've opted for a protein blend as my supplemental protein source. I've been using it throughout the day (2 serv per day). It costs me $46/4lbs. = $11.50/lb. Do you think this is a 'quality' enough protein vs. using only WPI or WPC?

Your taking great supps right now.

Check out our Blend it comes out to $8.00 per lb and ask for Micellar Casein samps our ATW amino Acid profile doubles NytroPlex's.
How does NP taste? I haven't tried NP yet. I am taking 150grams of protein a day and I like to mix it up. I like hearing feed back from what others are taking.

I may have to check that out... $8/lbs. isn't bad at all.

WRT NytroPlex taste... 3/5. It's definitely drinkable mixed w/ water and a little ice. But, it isn't 'good'. I'm sure the lack of taste could be offset if one included other stuff to make this a true MRP (peanut butter, bananas, etc.), or even just adding some sugar-free choc. syrup should help.

I tried using the NP with just oats... talk about mouth puke. Now, THAT is nasty.

I do like the fact that it doesn't clump.

yeah I never have problems with a shaker bottle. I also use room temp water. Obviously, water at room temp is going to a fewer degres warmer then anything from the fridge. Therefor easily mixable.

I am interested to see if after you have the milk in, put a half scoop in, see how that goes them the remaining scoop.

None left. Sorry. It is good stuff, just the isolate doesn't mix that well for me. I just take milk directly out of the fridge, pour 16 oz in my blender, cut open the whey protein isloate sample pack(could not open them correctly, they were just sealed shut) and then blend for around 30 seconds. Pour it in a cup and at the bottle of the blender there are these chuncks of powder.

Sorry man those sample packets are sealed shut, I use scissors. You should use a shaker cup. Less clean up and mixes better I am glad you get the Isolate.
