House Oversight Committee on HGH, B12....

I just listened to the most moronic conversation on B-12, HGH and Lidocaine that I have ever heard.

The committee had several doctors present. They questioned the viability of B-12, HGH, and for some reason Lidocaine...(why is this grouped into this discussion ??? ) The first thing that made me thoroughly upset with this discussion was that the congressmen spoke of B-12 injections like they were some kind of steroid. Then...according to the doctors it WAS damn near a steroid. WTF? No it's not retards.

Secondly, the congressmen couldn't get a grasp of what it was they were talking about...they called them "B-15" shots over and over and over...the doctors had to repeatedly ask, "Do you mean B-12 shots?" What a bunch of goof balls.

Third why the F* is lidocaine grouped in with this? The congressmen asked "Is lidocaine performance enhancing?" ???

Then to top it all off..the doctors testified that HGH had no real physically enhancing effects, but that it was very very dangerous and caused gigantism like Andre The Giant.

When asked about the dangers of "b-15 shots"....oh wait no we mean b-12 shots...the doctors said oh the dangers of having syringes in the house far outweighs the benefits of injecting b-12. Since when does someone else get to make a decision like that for me?! If I want to smoke 10 packs a day, and drink a 24 pack a day, and eat at McDonalds every meal, no one gives a flying F*.

Here is the link for those of you who are curious as to what extent our Congress is clueless.

Oh man do we need to clean the House and Senate out. That little gene pool done gone stagnant.

I wonder how many of them would be where they are today if there was a mandatory drug test for them to hold offices.. or random drug testing for our members of congress and senate.. if you throw alcohol in the mix, we could just start over with them..

Have they all forgotten about Meth, the aftermath, familys destroyed, the health care cost that are going to sky rocket when all these people age etc.. the homes that people cant live in, because meth was cooked in them and cant afford to have them properly cleaned.. the hotel rooms where these crack heads cook this ****, then you and I take our familys in there and expose them to God knows what.. and most states dont require that there be any certain type of clean up in a hotel room.. WTF..

Sorry for the hijack, my point is there is far worse things, than needles, B15 :D and steriods in homes today!!!

I watched a bit of this too, this witch hunt is almost too much BS for me to deal with... I really get a bad taste for the panel they had mainly due to their pompous attitudes in their methods or ideas are the only right ones out there... almost makes you distrust the medical practitioners (even though I am related to 2 of them)

The government has more power and control than some people would like to think. These doctors could have well been specifically chosen to take part in this conference. With that be said, of course they're pretty much going to tell these congressmen what they wanna hear. Had the doctors also spoke positively about HGH and B-12 (or, "B-15" if you're a congressmen), the doctors may have had a small, but scary, price to pay. Our government feeds off money and control. They love it and they want it all. Violating rights granted by the US Constitution is one thing, but then to violate our personal rights as human beings? Wtf? Our Four Fathers must be rolling over in their graves right about now. They're violating our personal rights and taking more of our powers away from us. They don't want us to have any access to HGH, or B-12, whatsoever. So, what to do? Aha! Setup a conference meeting, possibly pre-planned/staged, meet with a few doctors (real or fake, doesn't matter - as long as the public thinks they're doctors), and talk only about possible (but of course, overly exaggerated) negative side-effects of both, HGH and B-12. Since 9/11, our government has been well known for using little, silly 'scare tactics' to try and convince us otherwise, and to sway in the opposite direction of being in favor of something they're against.

These people make promises, we vote for them, and then they end up doing whatever the hell they want anyways. What's the point in even voting!? I'm sick of all of this. If things don't begin to change after January 19th, 2009, then I don't think there's any hope for this country.

I think this one is just a presidential election. A new president won't make a lick of difference to congress. The whole system of checks and balances is beyond repair. Move the nation's capital to the geographic center of the United States, northern Kansas, and start from scratch.

i like how U.S. rep elijah cummings likes to remind us that this is about the children. because i can see all those 8 -12 year olds watching this congressional meeting. if it really about the children why do we have to destroy the reputations of some of the best basball players ever?
and U.S. rep .. i think tom davis reminded us of the BAD effects of steroids, i hope they have rehab clinics for all these addicted roid raging baseball felons. or is steroids so much worst than meth and coke that its imposible to rehab these monsters of society?

There is always hope. You and your closest 100,000 rednecks could change the country in a week. No worries.

The system is f*cked all over the world because the same people in charge of it here are also co-ordinating it over there. See my signature.

Anyhow what's the point in talking about it if no change or action is taken. They will take it all before we rise up to do anything.

You and I may be strong in the gym but we're weak in action on this stuff......big time.

The words 'conservative' and 'liberal' do mean something, though the meanings of both words have been very tarnished throughout the past 8 years.

liberal [2,noun]: a person who is liberal: as a : one who is open-minded or not strict in the observance of orthodox, traditional, or established forms or ways

conservative [2,noun]: 2 a : one who adheres to traditional methods or views

Most liberals are 'left-wing' (Democrat, most Independents) and most conservatives are 'right-wring' (Republican.) Some representatives, such as Rudy Guiliani (R), possess both, Dem/liberal ideologies and Rep/conservative ones.

Of course, a lot of the time, both sides work together. The Left now controls Congress. The Right seems to keep on losing support. Many Republicans have turned their backs on their own peers, due to all of the chaos caused by scandals, the war, terrorism, taking away personal rights, and so on and so forth.

I guess what I am getting at, is this:

Perhaps, a more 'open-minded' government would be more apt to letting us make our own personal decisions and worry more about running the country, instead of our lives.

We shall be able to do what we want with our bodies, whether people agree with our choices or not. They're ours and ours alone.

the reason they were talking about b-12 and lidocaine shots is because clemens vehemently denied getting hgh and steroids injections and stated that the injections were b-12 and lidocaine injected into the buttocks to help with some healing of some sort.

Party has nothing to do with this...Henry Waxman, the one who made this hearing public, is a liberal....

Party usually does have something to do with it. Many representatives stand on both sides of the fence. A lot of us possess ideologies of both parties.

Clemens denied so in a statement, but just admitted to it on live television. I'm watching live coverage on MSNBC right now.

McNamee admitted to injecting Clemens, but only to help his eye and hand coordination, which is what his playing position was all about and he's greatly recognized for in baseball.

I do find it strange how one of these congressmen just compared steroids and HGH to meth. Wtf?

Not this issue per ce.

I was just stating that Dems and Liberals are much more open-minded, so that's why I'm finding this to be ridiculous. But some Liberals are also somewhat Conservative. It depends on the issue at hand.

Maybe they aren't so "open minded" as some tend to believe.

This congressman doesn't seem very open-minded, but he also seems to be sort of a prick.

Most liberals are called that for a reason. He's apparently more conservative than liberal.

They're now bringing up Clemens's personal life. This is fcuking ridiculous. They're hounding him. His personal life has nothing to do with them going after him for using steroids and HGH. What about all of these other athletes who inject themselves? Why aren't they at this conference?

Clemens's lawyers are beginning to speak out and fight back, so that's good.

No matter what Clemens says and whether he's guilty, or not, the congressmen will be 'right.' In their minds at least. Whatever they say, goes.

Nope, not just a presidential election: in addition to (v)POTUS, we'll also be voting for EVERY Representative in the House (2-years terms) and for ~1/3 of the Senate Seats (6-year terms, staggered).

In addition, there will be governors, judges, commissioners galore looking for local votes all around the country.

That being said, I retract my previous statement. All but the moving the capital to Kansas part.

Thats why I object to someone saying they are more open minded. The term "liberal" how you define above, is not accurate to the party today. Look for yourself at the California liberal, Henry Waxman (conservative? Are you nuts?). The same "liberal" party that wants to deny the Marines to even be in the city limits of Berkley and called them "unwelcome intruders" in their own legislature. Liberal as you describe it has nothing to do with how the party operates today. The far left "liberals" act more like socialists.

The far right 'conservatives' act like dictators.

The Liberals and Dems should control their party as it was meant to be controlled, but of course, as you said, times have changed and I totally agree with it.

As for the Marines not being allowed near Berkley in California; that's not all Liberals and Dems. Only some. Some people from both sides agreed with how that's handled, some didn't.

What's wrong with Communism 'lite,' comrade? :)
In Soviet Russia, weights lift you!

Funny, the Democrats voted for the Patriot Act and war as well.

Don't think so. Berkeley is the bastion of liberal thought. Its pretty well known as their City Council and Mayor have proclaimed. Real open minded over there....

Zealots of any stripe are focused only on their particular ideaology. Average liberals are definitely no more open minded than the average conservative..they're just more open to the sorts of things THEY find appealing. I can lecture a room full of liberals about environmental subjects and all goes well, but if I turn the discussion towards the need for hunting as a managment tool for wildlife..I become the devil incarnate.

But if it makes you feel better, conservatives aren't much better. Just depends on the subject matter.

Don't fool yourself, NY, we have NO friends in Congress or anywhere else.

rep. john duncan: "...legs amputated because of steroids."

what???? never heard of this befor. not even from docs who hate steroids.

Jerry is absolutely right about Berkeley in refernence to their outstanding liberal tendencies..

It's hard to find a happy medium in this country because the spectrum of what people want and think they should be entitled to is sooo wide that it's tough to get anybody to unite under anything..

Lets just all move to Switzerland and live under Direct Democracy.. anybody?

Bingo...you win the prize :)

Oh and I forgot, this is a perfect example of out-of-shape, completely biased "professionals" harping on anything that they can deem potentially hazardous or unfamiliar

Good thread!

This stuff is swaying the public opinion so quickly.

Sheep - "Well I heard that b-12 is a steroid! If you take it you will have 'rages' and they will eventually have to cut your legs off"
