Hitman:The movie

I went to see Hitman the movie last Thurs (Thanksgiving evening). I'll admit I've never actually played the video game. A lot of guys in my dorm/fraternity played the game a lot so I've seen the objectives behind it, etc, etc.

Usually most video game to movies have been unsuccessful. Tomb Raider was OK, but Doom, Alone in the Dark, Mortal Kombat, etc, etc just lack the ability to translate from 'video game' into 'real life movies'.

The movie was fairly good overall. The only 2 downsides to the movie was:

1. The action sequences, IMO could have had a bit more substance. Movies like The Matrix and Equilibrium have very good martial arts/fighting sequences. Since Agent 47 is not just any ordinary human, showing his fighting abilities/techniques should have reflected more than your 'James Bond' fighting sequences. They should have been a bit more 'superhuman' in manner.

2. Timothy Olyphant. He was not very convincing in his prior role 'Die Hard' as the bad guy, and his quirky personality did not fit Agent 47's role. I'm not sure if he is just being casted in the wrong types of movies or what. Timothy would be better casted in some type of humorous chick flick. He has the polished, clean look for one of those 'Guy meets girl, blows her off, learns life lesson, makes up with girl and lives happily ever after.'

Overall I'd say the movie is a solid B+.

Ben Kingsley should have been casted instead. He is a bit 'older' but I think he'd have been a better actor for the role.

I saw a write-up about it yesterday and the guy said it was absolutely terrible. Mentioned the same thing you did about the lead character not really being the right kind of guy.

I'll be waiting for this one to come out on DVD.............or download it.

Timothy Olyphant absolutely does NOT fit the role. He misses it by a long shot. They might as well have casted Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise instead. Timothy just acts weird on camera. I really don't understand how he was the BEST actor that they could have came up with.

I could name a few people who could have been good for a role like that. Jason Statham (best choice), Ben Foster, Edward Norton, Christian Bale are some good choices. I haven't seen the movie, but I have played the game and you're right, Timothy Olyphant just seems like a not so good fit for this role based on who he's played in the past and his personality.

Agreed Jason Statham would have been great. I think Christian Bale is becoming one of the best actors around town. Doubt he would touch something like this..............his weight also seems to fluctuate like crazy. I saw some of the Machinist the other day, yuk, he looked sick big time.

True, but The Machinest was a really good movie. Christian Bale has become a very versitile actor.

Ed Norton would have been bad ass. The only thing I thought when seeing the preview was .....wow they shouldn't have cast him.

the guy that plays the hitman, once i saw him i was like this is gonna suck. I could smell the stench in the previews so i have no desire to watch it even tho i played the game.

He has this very tacky personality that is not genuine. You can sense it in Hitman and also Live Free Die Hard movie.

Actually Timothy Olyphant was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He represents the HI piston.

Great! like i care. anyway...he just doesnt look raw enough for the part. Looks like he should go do a drama flick or something, didnt look that convincing in the previews with a bald head either....whatever. How was the story tho?

Story was ok, but it did not really represent too much of the 'real' story though.

The movie was not done in a very serious manner. I am not sure who produced the movie, but it probably would have came out better if it were done with a new actor and Tarantino or Woo was directing it instead.

Then after Batman Begins he did Rescue Dawn where he looks to be 130lbs again. How do you lose that much weight and gain it back so quick?

steroids.

A lot of times Hollywood actors will accredit it to 'training 8 hours a day' or some insane lengthy workout when in reality they are in their latter 30s to mid 40s doing the stuff that they do. Maybe an 18 yr old or Ronnie Coleman could do something like that, but not actors who don't even workout on a regular basis doing the 'transformations' that they do off of eating chicken/organic food and training 8-10 hrs each day.

I figured thats what it was. It must be some pretty hardcore stuff because I read for the first Batman movie he gained 100lbs in like 6 months. I've trained and eaten right and got nowhere near that. Oh well at least I'll still have a body left by the time I'm 40.

This is where I saw the article at under the batman section Invalid Link Removed

apparently the movie was supposed to be obnoxiously violent, but due to censorship conflicts, it was severely reduced...I remember reading that in FHM, or Maxim.

...in any case, The Onion gave it a D+ which is enough to keep me from seeing it
