crappiest workout in awhile. first i need to man up and say that i'm not as tough as i think i am or would like to be....yet. And my training program the last 3 weeks was to aggressive. i went from squating over 700 very rarely to doing it every single week. I definetly need this week to recover

i've got a minor strain on lower left side of back and my hips are FRIED still. My back is feeling much better today and the pain is minimal.

No carb up before training today and was 1hour late due to an extended errand.


Zercher Squats - feet 6" apart

would have worn belt due to back but with close stance my legs into my stomach left no room for thick lever belt.

yea hes still pretty novice. but hes moving up the ranks fast. :P

Little bit of life log here. It’s been a super stressful week at work. I met with attorney’s several times and had to give a video deposition as the prime witness in a lawsuit against our company (3 hours getting grilled today). Then got back to work to be part of a film being produced by our parent company, and deal with other issues. Missed shipments to the Military and other government bodies this week making everyone very unhappy. Production plan this week got bumped to levels beyond completion as I already have my team working 6-7 days a week. A $60,000 part on one of key pieces of equipment failed this week and we are waiting on a replacement and working on subcontracting what we can locally to stay running or its more missed shipments. Had to give a presentation to all the leadership in the company yesterday including the senior leadership team. Finished with filming for movie then finished up schedule for weekend production. Then met with VP or manufacturing to discuss plan of attack with down equipment and orders…. then on to meet with VP of HR and VP of Mfg to discuss where were at with lawsuit. Then finally off to train after that.

Been a rough week. I’ll swing in to work 2morrow morning to make sure things are going well and the guys got some food then off the try an pull of the deadline I have going on the house….starting to rain and schedule is getting tight.
 
Slight Changes in next few weeks.

Going to put less focus on ME work and burn through it quickly. Might even jump back to 5 rep max’s. Will spend more time and effort on supplemental work for time being.
 
How you focus on a certain lift on a certain week. I usually just follow a Westside template.

Always like seeing something different.


Dang impressive on the deads man.

i have my ways. sometimes i do the same lift over 3 weeks as a wave. But when training heavier i change it every week for 3 weeks then repeat.

thanks for comments on deads...however i did 600x4x4x4 last time (sometime this spring):sick: but i didn't do back work the night before however.

its tight. in my basement. plan on expanding to my shop this spring when i finish off a few other 'little:run: ' projects before i renovate my shop and expand my training area and equipment.

buki i worked out with someone other day we used a log on top of his chest haha cuz we dont got boards log is like = 4 boards i think and he got up to 315. but anyway he said you should deload the weight on your chest (on top of board) and then push off. is this good or bad advice? im curious cuz i might try next time i see him.

Went to see chiro today. My clavicle has been slipping out of place a bit and I think affecting my bench so i went in to get some work done. This is from the injury I sustained this spring when I Separated it from my chest. It’s a weird feeling when its out of location a little bit....just a weak unconfident feel when i go to bench.

Anyway did a little work to it. Not completely reseated yet. Says I have some scar tissue around the area…particularly in my chest which is pulling on it.

Also looks like my lymph nodes in my right tricep are swollen following the deep tissue massage. Guessing from the amount of toxins relased from breaking up those knots. I was wondering why all of a sudden I had this big ball under my skin on my tricep.
 
sounds like you're "Johnny Adhesions", but it looks like you're getting the right help.

yep...but i don't really have time in my schedule right now to be getting out to get my adhesions adressed.

Don't know why i have so many....maybe the years of neglect and the Kabuki style abuse. i've only been trying to stay on top of this stuff the last 1-2 years.

Little bumps in weights, sets, and/or reps on everything tonight. Solid workout. Only bad thing was when doing my back work I could feel it pulling at my clavical. I think this is how its started to pull away again…with the adhesions in the chest its just to tight.

Cat was training with us all night….couldn’t help myself.

Part of my current program layout is based on the meeting the needs of two of the people I train on a specific day of the week. It is just not working for me as it is negatively affecting my Deadlift training. It stops today and they will have to suffer not me.

Bukka, I jacked my right arm up wrestling a guy at work and it's been out of commision for a week.

This last week off has been probably the most beneficial in my training career though. There is a truth to the "back off and grow" ideology, I'm just realizing it more than ever lately. Just mentioning it because I have a few adhesions in my forearm/brach that I need to get worked on.
 
that's why i'm doing a deload week every 4th week now....just not backing off as much as i should be during that time.

Yes. They really break up the concentric and eccentric phases of the lift and help with explosiveness. Supposed to also help Deadlift as your taking out the stretch reflex that you do not have when pulling. For the later reason I need to be doing more of these lately…my pull sucks right now.

I usually don’t go very heavy on these. 3 wheels works fine. 3 sets of 5 reps with a full 3 count (preferably someone else or the count goes to quick) at the bottom.

Trained occasionaly in HS...but mostly sports. Occasionaly in College...but mostly drank.

Started training seriously at the end of 2000 and probably started powerlifting within a year of that time. Although i still trained like a BBer the first few years i competed.

i got into PL because there were a couple competive BBers in my gym and they were so much bigger than me...but i could walk all over them in regards to strenght...so i figured if i was going to compete i better head the route of strength sports as it seemed to be by how i am made.
 
had to do the plumbing on house this weekend. i mention it in my log because it involved spending a day climbing it attic and basement crawlspaces and closets using a chemical that causes (among other things) CNS depressant if you breath the fumes. and there was no getting around that with some of the places i had to work in.

We will see tommorrow how much of an effect it had.
 
Thanks GIP. that was a BIG box squat PR for me. Hell...i can't still half believe some of the weights i've been squating with lately. Coming up on 3 years since i started to train for a competitve squat (450-500 at that time).

No heavy weights handled today so i went for some volume. besides my note above i also i did not eat properly this weekend. tried a big dinner w/desert last night and heavy eating today but was still down 3lbs at training.

My arms are getting to be in real bad shape. going to have to do something drastic aly different to reverse this. i don't have the time to deal with this but i've got to figure it out.
