just off vicodin...

Hello all

New to the forum and back into bodybuilding.

I was lifing back in 2002 and during squats blew out my L5 S1, needless to say I was 5"11 189lbs of solid mass.
Got hooked on PK (vicodin as the dr was filling script like pez candies) just got off of all of it.

Before I was doing EAS WHEY, Creating, 19-Nor andro w/ andro I think 5-beta?? multivitimin, glutamin etc.

I have been out of the loop per sey and want to know without getting ripped, is there or can I purchase anything close to the 19-nor as it was changing to nandralone in my liver and got HUGE results.

Thanks
BTW dont' get on the Norco pain killers its hell to get off of...

Andrew

Congrats on your sobriety bro, and welcome.

I'd recommend picking up a good whey protein and starting up some micronized creatine monohydrate. Those are both still staples in my book. Everything else is basically secondary until you start talking about steroids. But if I was you, I'd hold off on that until you're back into a good groove with your diet and training. That's the most important part anyway.

Best of luck!

Start in with Whey protein, fish oil, creatine, beta alanine, BCAAs and Waxy Maize Starch.

Use this for 6 solid months before you even think about anything else.

re; just off vicodin

thanks guys, kinda frustrating losing most of my mass and having to start over.

thx

It's understandable. But you did it once before and you can build it back. Start with the basics, just like you did before your injury, and you'll get there. Can't build a house without the foundation. Roids are like replacing the vinyl siding with brick, but it won't do you any good if it all falls into a heap in the basement.

you'd be surprised how fast it comes back. Had some health probs a couple years ago and lost ~20 lbs. Put it back on in ~6 months all naturally.

Welcome to AM Drew. I commend you for getting off the pain killers. I know many people that are addicted and your right...it seems extremely hard to get off once you start.

The first thing you need to do is get your diet and exercise in order. That's your foundation. Without it, all the supplements in the world won't help. Shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to send you a program if you need one.

As far as supplements, I will list them in order of priority...keeping in mind this is just my opinion:

Multi Vitamin
Whey Protein Isolate
Fish Oil Caps
Creatine Monohydrate

These along with a good diet will be more than enough to get you down the road to building the physic you want. Once you have a few months of a good diet and hard training under your belt, then start exploring other supplement options.

Good luck my friend! :)

Working, I would be happy if you could send me a program to get me back - ps I can't do any squats or any lifting with back...

Glad you're off... I too am an addict :)

Seriously though, vicodin is nothing compared to stronger drugs such as oxycodone and fentanyl.. I wanted to cut my wrists going cold-turkey!

I still get cravings for the drugs, and the truth is, at times I really need them. I've replaced them for the most part with marijuana, but I only use that at night. You just need to find SOMETHING that helps, that isn't as harsh as the opiates. My endocrine system is a mess, and I think the drugs were to blame.

I know what it's like dealing with pain all the time though. No fun. Although the gym can make it worse, it normally makes it much less severe for me.

With a bad back, I still do all of these:

deadlift, benchpress, legpress, clean and press, but I too, won't bother with squats.. Compressing my spine just doesn't sound smart when I already have issues. The freeweights are a blessing, and compound lifts are the way to go. I usually spend the first 30minutes doing these, then switch up to individual muscle groups. Start taking the typical stuff...BCAA, whey, 3,6,9 omegas, creatine..etc

Doc put me on suboxone for 7 days no dt's

Drew,

As far as routines go, I know what it's like. I have a herniated disc next to my L4. No squats, no deadlift. I crank down my weight belt really tight on everything except ab exercises. That provides some extra support. I do leg press instead of squats. Barbell lunges too. Lunges put a little weight on your back, but not too much that it causes me a problem. Barbell curls and shoulder presses give me the most problems these days. Other than that, I can hit every muscle group with no pain in my back.

Oh and shrugs are a bit of a pain too. I had to decrease weight and increase reps.

Good luck man!

That's what we're here for my friend. Keep your head up! We've all been down...just realize it won't last as long as you stay proactive, as you are! :)

Congrats on stopping the painkillers, I was once addicted to oxycontin, and it was very hard to give up. Trust me I know what you are going through. As for supps you should use just do what everyone else says for a while before you decide to jump into some of the stronger supps that are out now, it will be worth the wait.

I don't get these Drs in texas, man they were giving me 240 Norco's per month and I kept telling them to check my liver to see if my count was high and the Dr assist kept telling me I was fine just to continue on the meds until I was feeling better.

Vicious cycle man - Dr getting kick backs for the meds....

That's just evil. I don't know how people like that sleep at night.

On the bright side, Drew, you win! You're dealing with your addiction and you're going to kick *ss in the gym. Stay positive and everything will work out. I'm sure of it. Good luck!

Wow. :fool2:

Worst case scenario is - we are all addicted to something.

On a brighter note, the human brain can be manipulated into differing addictions in order to elicit the same (or comparable) reinforcements/pleasure returns.

It becomes a matter of following Socrates (know thyself) then figuring out how to best manipulate yourself into a PREDEFINED, and PRODUCTIVE addiction.

Hell, become addicted to writing books. Become addicted to OVERALL HEALTH (not just lifting, not eating disorder-level dieting, etc.).

Best of all worlds, learn how to spread your addiction into several minor addictions (family pleasures, healthy living, gourmet cooking, academic/intellectual pursuit, a business venture, and an artistic expressional outlet.)

Humans will NEVER be free of addictions. Just learn to control and guide them in order to attain the goals you rationally seek.
