Pete Rose in HOF?

He should be in their. He's not the brightest bulb, but he was one hell of a ballplayer, it's deserved IMO.

Yep...Jackson and Rose would be two of the best ball players in the HOF...

Rose's newer comments about how he did bet on games he managed but never against his team makes me skeptical, but he's still the 2nd best hitter in MLB history.

And Bond WILL be in, in 6 years. 1 more year to get to 3000 hits + 5 years retired = a lot of pissy fans and a huge smile on my face.

Nah...Arod swings like a little girl. Lets see how well it looks during the post season. Last year it was so bad I could have struck him out throwing underhand.

Ok, Pete Rose not being in the HOF is a touchy subject with me. Just because of how they are punishing him for betting, however, they let guys like Strawberry and Gooden back into baseball after all their drug use.

The best Home Run swing I've ever seen is Ken Griffey Jr's (I'm not a Reds fan btw). IMO one of the best hitters (as far as putting the ball on the field where he wants it) is Paul Molitor.

Paul Molitor is top 5...Tony Gwynn, Suzuki Ichiro, Ted Williams, Ty Cobb all beat him out. Eddie Murray is up there too...

I completely understand baseball's stance on Pete Rose, not that I agree with it. But he bet on baseball and that hurts the sanctity of the game much more then illicit drugs do, not matter what way you cut it.

Last time I checked though, neither were in the Cooperstown anyway.
 
I'd love to see Charlie Hustle in the HOF. He's the best contact hitter and players go to the HOF based on performance, not gambling issues.
 
Let's face it, The fact that he bet on baseball is not nearly as damaging as the fact that he lied about it for so long. After he served his time, had he admitted his faults, he would already be in. Our society seems to be forgiving when someone is contrite His numbers deserve a place in the Hall, his arrogance doesn't.

Exactly...and his numbers are. Take a look at the records, they don't stricken his name from them.

I can't say a disagree with any of these but if we're just talking about the look of the swing, then yes Bonds wouldnt be anywhere near the top. For me, Will Clarks swing was the best. But Bonds' swing was the most effective.

I loved watching Rafael Palmeiro's home run swing. That was a sweet swing.

Rose's swing wasn't the prettiest, but he could put the ball where he wanted any time he wanted.

You're right, I forgot about that. I think it's funny thought that guys like Steve Howe, a.k.a "The coke machine" got so many chances despite his obvious demons but Pete Rose can't be pardoned by MLB. I get the feeling that they'd probably put Pete Rose in the HOF after he dies but they don't want him to have anything to do with baseball while he's still alive.

I agree with that assertion...He's a pretty outspoken guy and might actually put baseball in a negative light if he were let in before that...he's battled his own alcohol deamons, his entire life.
 
I really hope they let him in. He's not the most deserving guy, granted, but he would absolutely not be the least deserving guy enshrined.
