Btw, I didn't mean to imply success or perfection are the end all, just that pursuing martial arts can foster excellence elsewhere in life. Pretty much everything in life is harder than what takes place on the mat; I can take a beating all day, but the little things (and big ones too) can bring me to my knees.

I bet the phillippines was awesome.

i was in the philipines at the end of marcos's reign, it was right before the end of being an american being someone special. those days are long gone, our piss poor politicians and corrupt big business has made being an american a less than good thing in the eyes of most countries in the world. in those days the attitude towards americans living in the philipines was something special indeed.

I worked 42 hours over fri, sat, and sun, and hitting another 14hour day today, it looks like. This morning was my workout morning, but I got in late last night, and nearly over slept this morning. We'll see if I make it up tomorrow morning.

Thank you, Illilian!

Well, this week sucked. Starting last Friday, I worked 14-16 hours a day, with my shifts ending at midnight>2:30am. My kids are up by 6:30-7am, so that's my sleep for the night. I'd try to get back to sleep, but they're noisy :D , and it was tough.

I missed every workout for that week. I'm basically a bodyguard for a rich family, and I escort their kids. I end up sitting in my car most of the time. Well, the combination of sitting (which I know is bad for me), and missing the workouts, really worked a number on my back. I went to bed late last night, tired but fine, and woke up feeling like my back was broken. A combination of a kidney punch and being tackled from behind by a linebacker. I could barely bend over (to put my shoes on, perv! :D ). So I hit up my chiropractor, awesome dude. He basically reiterated what I knew, but attached the word 'destroy' to it: if I keep sitting in my car, I'll destroy my back. Uh, wow. Sucks for me. So he adjusted my back (more like slammed it, I'm strong, and it was ****ED). It went back to where it's supposed to be, but the adjustment spasmed the hell out of the supporting muscled, yeeow. He told me to ice it, and lay off for a few days.

I went to the gym instead. :D I hobbled in like an old man, and hung backwards over a balance ball for 10 minutes or so, then lay face down on the floor, propped up on my elbows (to allow my back to fall into the natural lumbar curve. It all hurt like hell, but in a good way.

Then I chose to do alternating dips and pullups, 7 and 5 reps, as I figured the hanging with stabilization might do me good, and surely wouldn't hurt. I did 8 rounds, moving slow-ish between stations, but with little rest. By the time I finished, I felt MUCH better. THe stretching had relaxed the spasms, and everything was warmed up and loose.

It still feels sore, quite painful, but it's healing itself.

Sunday is my 36 birthday. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

My back was much better by Sat morning. This morning I got up, opened a birthday present or two while I waited for the WF to hit, and went to the gym.

2 mile run - started slow, but ended up running hard, as I felt great.

Alternating flat bench and chest supported rows - 6 sets of each, felt a bit weak due to the time off and residual soreness from Fri, but good to be back.

DL - went easy, 20 sec rest in between sets on 135lbs: 30, 15, 5. I didn't want to stress my back out too much.

I've only got a serving or two of WF left, I've dipped in on occasion for random energy on non-workout days. :D

1.5 scoops WF, and the gym 1 hour later.

2 mile run, easy, I felt a bit run down the last few days.

Alternating decline and Hammer Strength Low Rows, 6 sets each.

DL (easy, because of my back)- 10 x 135, 3 x 155, 185, 205, 245, 265

Alternating curls and behind the head dumbell press.

Stretch and out.

WF just makes me feel GOOD. Endurance was high, focus was awesome as always, pumps were huge, and the workout was just great.

This concludes my log.

Flavor - 10
Energy - 10
Focus - 10
Pumps - 10
Endurance - 10

Yeah, obviously I LOVE WF. It's the best caffeinated pre-workout around. Absolutely lovely stuff. Thanks to CL for allowing me to log this pixie dust er, product. :D

I see that it's on sale. I'm gonna pick up a tub with my next order. It's been on my "to do" list for a while now.

Reason I asked about HRB is because I really liked it. I've always been a fan of TRAC Extreme NO, which has been my fav since day 1. But I think HRB was just as good, never had a bad workout with it.

I've been using FocusXT lately because I don't need any pump component while I'm on cycle. It's a pretty cool supp but I like it for brain power/mood at work better than for preworkout though.

You should try Lucidrol, man. It's very nice stuff, and stacks literally with anything, from a cup of coffee, to your favorite pre-workout, to a can of redbull.
