mmm. cakebread is really good. their chardonnay is great as well. i've been really impressed with caymus conundrum for a great white wine at 25 bucks or so. at one point in my life, i was spending around 200 bucks per week on wine, and that only got me 1-2 bottles. being sober is so much cheaper :)
Y'know it was Cakebread's Chardonnay that got me turned onto them. I don't typically like white wines, but theirs was so good I had to try some of their other varieties!

I have not tried Caymus Conundrum, though I think I have seen that around. I'll to give that a try on one of the ultra-rare occasions that I actually have a drink. Like you say, being sober is so much cheaper! :D

oh, also rombaur chardonnay is pretty intense. it has an almost chewy texture, so its like the white wine most similar to the reds :) finally, living in napa is paying off :)

I would expect no less than such a helpful knowledge from a person who lives right in the midst of all the wineries! :D Thanks, you've given me a couple of things to try.

Ultima Update:
1/2 scoop pre-workout and 1/2 scoop intra was again very satisfactory. I did begin to run out of steam by the end of th workout, but I blame that on the record-breaking C&Ps and Narrow-Grip Dec Bench. I mean I pushed HARD today and it wasn't until my last superset of Pulldowns and Lunges that I began to feel any real fatigue at all.

Granted, I was out of breath and then some during my cluster sets of C&Ps, but anaerobic effort is quite different from fatigue. Drive was high - I wanted those PRs and I was confident I'd break them.

Again, recovery was rapid - with supersets I was switching back and forth between movements with under a minute rest. With such taxing compound movements, this was not something I would normally want to do - but I'm shooting for fat-loss, and that means less rest. And Ultima help make that more feasible.

I continue to sweat freaking buckets as I cruise about the gym.

Speaking of buckets; BW got her new log up today - BabyWifey's Bucket of Happiness. Go check it out, cuz that girl's a machine!

Today's Workout:

Cluster Clean and Press: 210 x5 x5 x5 x3 x3 x1 x1 x1

Narrow-Grip Decline Bench: 205 x15 x13 x10 x12 x10
SS'd Seated Calf Raises: 190 (4x15)

Wide-Grip Pulldowns: 210 x15 x13+2 x13+2 x12+3
Reverse Speed Lunges: BW (4x15 per leg)

Reverse Cable Curls: 130 x15 x13 x13 x10 x9

This was a workout where everything seemed to go smoothly. C&Ps were fun though taxing, and 205 was the perfect amount for dec bench. Incidently, as mentioned above, the weight I moved in both of those movements are PRs!

I have Push-pressed more than 210, but never managed a complete clean and press with that much.

However, by the time I got around to pulldowns, my back and arms were already pretty shot, and needed a lighter load than I would have liked. Still, it was more than enough of a stimulus, as my lats even now are telling me of the beating I gave them.

Changing subjects, I have to ask: why overweight morons who have no clue what they are doing think they are qualified to bring in their wife/gf and "teach" her how to lift?

I mean, WTF kind of idiot has his girl do 3 different kinds of pec flies in a workout? Or a workout of nothing but triceps rope extensions and cable curls with so light a weight that she may as well just be swinging her arms about?!

If you don't know enough to get your own stupid lard-butt into shape, you have NO call to attempt to impart your imagined expertise to others.

Don't laugh, zombies are effing nasty! ;)

Awesome! I'm sure you will enjoy it - be prepared for the initial shock of the sublingual flavor; it's quite potent. But definitely worth the intensity when you figure out the dose you respond to best.

...I've been tempted to pick up some Trinitine; I'm just stocked to the gills on creatine as it is! Anybody wanna buy a buttload of random Cre products? :p

Looking good man. Glad you found the right dosage protocol.

LOL..not sure about zombies and **** but I really am thinking of buying a gun (while I can) due to the massive increase in crime. I have a family to protect and my softball bat or hockey stick can do some damage but I'd rather shoot someone and get it over with if they should so decide to wander into my living room.

There are no muscular PTs at my gym. A couple of leaner guys, but they're small too. And the PTs all train each other and always use the SAME LAME movements. Unilateral DB Curl/Shoulder Presses on a balance ball with one foot in the air?! WTF? How do you honestly hope to gain any strength if you don't provide yourself a stable foundation to lift on?

I have never seen a PT squat, or dead, or clean, or bench, or BB row, or Dip, or Chin, or Push Press.

Their "Strength" training techniques are horrible.
I currently hold the Squat and Dead record at my gym, and that is pitiful because I am just not that strong.

We have some pretty swole dudes as trainers at my home gym...but theres still one or two dudes that I don't understand...I don't think you have to be the most incredibly muscular or lean person to be a trainer but you should look like you work out at least..

I have a buddy that swears by that balance ball sh*t. He's been doing it for years!! My 17 yr old throws more weight around than him, it's comical. The old gym I used to w/o in was awesome. It was owned by a competitive bodybuilder who only hired like trainers(men or women). He was always ready with advice too...

I remember you mentioning that in my T-911 log. A home gym is something I wouldn't mind having, definitely. And working out with your son no doubt is making a lot of shared memories for the two of you. It would rock to have my dad around when I set a PR!

But I'm off to the beach now guys! Later!

Day 12

So, had an awesome time in San Clemente last night. We were on a Marine base visiting friends who live right on the beach. It was awesome, not only because there were WAY less people than a public beach, but also just because of the people I was with.

We spent some time playing The Great Dalmuti which is a cult favorite in our social circle for some reason. Also had a great dinner and took a walk on the beach, but it was too cold to go swimming without my wetsuit.

Ultima Update: Because of the vitamin content in Ultima, I have been abstaining from taking a multi. I've just been getting extra VitC and taking ZMA pre-bed, along with a mineral complex at breakfast. I feel like there are some aspects that Ultima fails to cover as far as vitamins go, but on the whole it delivers a good punch of minerals and vitamins. This was actually one of the reasons I was so drawn to Ultima in the first place: I am a real sucker for supplements that promote health and well-being in addition to improving performance. Reverse, Essentials, Poseidon - you get the idea.

Anyway, I continue to make progress gym-wise and the scale showed I was 242.3 today, so apparently I'm dropping weight. At this point, I'm fine with that - as long as it's not muscle and I'm not losing strength.

Today's Workout:

Bench Press: 305 x6 x6 x4 x4 x4
SS'd BB Hack Squats: 295 x9 x9 x8 x7 x7

Cable Pullovers: 180 x9 x9 x9 x8 x8
SS'd 2-1 Standing Calf Raises: 210 w/3sec Eccentric

Unilateral Leg Ext.: 65 for 4x20 per leg

Machine Preacher Curls: 125 x9 x9 x9 x7 x7

Two set of 6! My Bench is BACK BABY! After a good while where my flat presses seemed to really lag, I'm finally making good headway again. I feel I've perfected my form; ensuring my shoulders are back, feet behind my knees, head dug into the bench and arms fairly tucked. I had good leg drive and controlled, smooth eccentrics with negligible bounce. It rocked.

I was surprised by my hack squats; 295 felt quite endurable and I was anticipating it to really whoop me. It wasn't until the end of the final set that I really had to push myself, and I let out a very bizarre noise in the process. Like a dying elephant trumpet or something. Good thing it was the end of the set, because the noise made me laugh.

We've noticed (I personally have also noticed this since the inclusion of Ultima into my regimen) this to be a common theme. Many people, myself included, have noticed a leaning effect and weight loss whilst increasing strength, endurance and recovery.

It is definitely a plus man - everybody likes to be stronger and leaner!

LMFAO that noise sounds hilarious.
I'm usually a pretty quiet lifter; very inwardly focused and don't make much if any noise unless I'm maxing out or something. That's why this took me by such surprise, it just came out of freaking nowhere and immediately every head in the vicinity swiveled in my direction.

Still better than doing weighted sit-ups and ripping huge fart when surrounded by soccer moms...

Easter Weekend Update:

Spent the holiday with my family. I drove my wife and grandmother out to my parents' estate where we had a smoked standing-rib roast for dinner. Oh man, it was amazing...
I had a slight cheat in the form of 2 slices of my mother's homemade Oatmeal bread. It's my favorite bread in the whole world and it was fresh out of the oven - how could I refuse when I will shortly be several states removed from such a glorious grain?
Plus, I was still within my 50g CHO limit for the day.

My joints have been feeling dry and stiff. I attribute this to the break I have had to take from using Essentials+Joint; it's ingredients would interfere and overlap too much with Ultima. So, I will be upping fish oil dosage as I see fit.

Looking forward to lifting tomorrow - fresh and recovered after a weekend of R&R!

No worries man, glad to have ya join in the fun!

Yeah, Easter weekend was none to good for my diet. :D
My only real cheat days are my birthday and Christmas day - I really let loose then. But the rest of the year I really try to keep cheating to a minimum. I've gotten to a point where I have no real problem turning down junk food - pie, ice cream, etc is no longer hard to refuse.

Anyway...

Yesterday's workout really beat the crap out of me. I somehow dragged myself out for some sushi post-workout, but once I got home, I took a long nap.

Ultima Update: Ultima could've done better yesterday. I pushed quite hard on my deads, and by the time I was done with them, I was already fatigued to a debilitating degree. My energy felt very much lacking.
Also, I continue to sweat like a wildebeast, which impeded my grip - so much so that I began to wish I had straps.
However, though this workout seemed to overwhelm the "performance enhancing" aspects of Ultima; it's recovery capacities remain rock solid. My legs are a little stiff today, as are my lats, but neurally and for the most part physically I feel ready to go lift again already.

Yesterday's Workout:

6x3
Deadlifts: 405, 455, 475, 495, 475, 455

4x20
Unilateral Leg Press: 120

4x15 Superset
Weighted Dips: BW+45
Seated Hammer Curls: 60lb DBs

4x15 Superset
Behind The Neck Military Press: 135
Chin-ups: BW

I almost threw-up in the shower after this. I felt like laying down and sleeping. It was intense in a good way, but more energy and stamina would've definitely been nice.

Ultima Update: Again, I felt underzealous (if that's a word) while lifting. The nootropic blend just isn't affecting me anymore, it seems. I am still dosing 1/2 scoop pre-workout under my tongue and 1/2 scoop intra-workout. There was no noticeable increase in drive and I actually felt like my conditioning was down.
I continue to sweat, so I presume the thermogenic effect is still in place, and I continue to require larger amounts of water while lifting than previously.
I am making progress; I would like to make that clear - strength and reps are slowly but surely coming along. I just am not receiving the energy and mental boost that I did when first starting Ultima; to such an extent that I am considering stacking X-Force with it for an additional "jolt."

Today's Workout:

ATG Squats: 315x8, 335x6, 355x5, 365x3, 385x1+1

Incline DB Press: 95s x9 x9 x9 x8 x8
SS'd w/Supinated Cable Rows: 255 x9 x9 x8 x8 x7

Narrow-Grip Smith Military: 155 x9 x8 x8 x8 x8
Jump Squats: BW for 4x20

Machine Preacher Curls: 130 x9 x8 x6 and 2 Triple Drop-sets from 130 to 90

The workout kept me out of breath, which I liked as it meant I was pushing myself; and I was pleased with how easily I squatted 315x8. It really was quite manageable.
The incline presses are a 10lb increase over last, IIRC, and are much closer to my Incline PR. Not there yet, but it's coming!
Ultima seems to be working in every regard well except for the additional "brain" help. I think with a bit of extra "oomph" it will really make a winner again.

I think our final formula will address the need to add anything for added stimulation. Before you dose it with x-force try 10oz of Diet Dew or Vault Zero and give that a whirl. I will warn you be careful if you use a shaker cup....."BOOM" :D

I'll do that. Actually, I think first I'll try a full scoop sublingually pre-workout - see what that does for me before adding the Mtn Dew.

I've learned well the lesson of "soda and shaker cups don't mix!" I was at a dance back in college and everybody's partying. I had brought along some Xtend as I knew I wasn't going to get to eat anything clean while there. Grabbing a pitcher of what I presumed was water, I filled the shaker and, well, shook.

Like you say - "BOOM", except it was "BOOM" all over some chick. The pitcher was full of Sprite and I had just given a total stranger a BCAA Facial. Needless to say, she was pissed...:madfawk:

A couple of things I forgot to mention: My NP order arrived bright and early yesterday morning. Unfortunately, several of the Eviscerate bottles I ordered had come open and leaked everywhere... Ugh. Totally ruined the T-shirt and "Russel The Mussel" Book I got for my little Bros.-in-law. Still waiting to hear back from NP CS, but I have no doubt they'll fix it.

Anyways, a new order means new supps, so from here on in, the following additions will be made:

Glycobol will be taken with breakfast and post-workout meal on lifting days
1-Carboxy before bed
Eviscerate to lower abs, lower chest and upper arms twice daily
Formex twice daily with Fish Oil

That seems to be the case with me in general. I've never had a supplement containing nootropic effects last longer then 2 weeks and that's being generous. I would say on average, within the first 5 doses or so. Do your kitchen sink formulas have a far reaching effect?

Depends. Usually I only used them on lifting days, and so insensitivity wasn't really an issue; I just didn't use them often enough to become accustomed to them.
However, I was also constantly adding in new things and taking out old, so the formula changed a lot. I think that variation contributed a lot to the longevity of its effects as well.

Well thanks for joining in! I'm preppin' up for my heavy-duty Clean and Presses later on. We'll see how a full scoop sublingually treats me.

Also, everybody - NP has been more than fair to fix the situation with my order. I had no doubt they would, and now I have a fair amount of NutraBucks that I not sure how to use.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty stocked up on creatine, so I'd like to use up what I've got, but I'm definitely picking up some Trinitine after that. But any other options are totally welcome!
