All done with my bag of P4O.
Final Review
First off I would like to thank the PES team for the opportunity to try this new product out. You guys are truly awesome and you have been exceptionally good to me in the recent past (hook ups after a misunderstanding lol), but I will remain un-biased in my review. I would also like to note that I do not have much of a reference to other PES Proteins for me to compare. I have tasted a protein but maybe a year or so ago from a sample and to be honest I cannot recall flavors, texture, etc. The only other protein product I have tasted are the Vegan Wild Berry and Vegan PB Delight. I also want to add that I will review the product below without pricing into consideration, not until the very end will I consider this factor.
Protein 4 Oats (P4O) – Peanut Butter & Honey
Let me break it down in the methods that I tried this.
Cold Shake (blender bottle and/or ice blender)
Taste: 10/10
Very, very, and very tasty! The peanut butter pops out first and you get the honey taste very subtle towards the end of a gulp. I absolutely love peanut butter, so for me this is a win! In a blender bottle it is a thin flavored milk product. With ice, you get an awesome smoothie. Absolutely loved it.
Mix: 10/10
No issues again. The product mixes great. 3 shakes and it was good to go.
Conclusion: 9/10
The product is not meant for a standalone shake, but it mixes great and it comes out like a flavored milk result. Not thick, but delicious. I am knocking it down a few just because of the protein content, but again not meant for a standalone shake.
Cold Overnight Oats
Taste: 10/10
Wow. Extremely delicious. Again big peanut butter taste and subtle honey after taste.
Mix: 10/10
No issues again. I really enjoyed just swirling a few times and the product mixing very easily. I would do 1 cup of dry oats and 1 serving of the P4O
Conclusion: 10/10
For me, the product absolutely shined with cold oats. I really enjoy them in cold oats.
Mix as Label Instructions into cooked oats
Taste: 7/10
The product seemed to have taken an almost complete 180 here. I could not taste the peanut butter and the sweet honey was taking most of the taste. I personally did not like this. I tried it once and did not do this method again.
Mix: 10/10
No issues. Easy to mix into the oats.
Conclusion: 7.5/10
I am knocking it points just because I tried the product as per instructions into cooked oats and didn’t get a PB&H taste. Just slightly sweet oats.
Pancakes. 7.5/10
I kind of messed up my ratios, but it mixes in perfect. No issues cooking! The only thing to watch out for is the thinness of the product. It throws off the batter if you are not careful with the added milk. The other issue was that again the peanut butter gets hidden.
Overall Conclusion: 9/10
I went through the bag real quick! I absolutely loved it with cold oats and as a standalone shake, especially blended with ice. I came to the conclusion that flavoring changes when heat is applied to the product. Not sure why that would happen?
If we were to consider pricing, then the product becomes a different story. I can acquire awesome peanut butter taste cheaper by adding in peanut butter and using a whey protein. Also, if you just wanted proats, without really caring for taste you can get good tasting mixture by adding in your whey protein powder without the need to buy an additional product. Would I buy it? Yea, if I saw a price I couldn’t resist, but I would not add it into my grocery list as a must have. The product is absolutely delicious, but I don’t see the point in buying an additional product.
