Judging from your older avatar your core looks ripped! Agree that a stronger core translates to stronger compound lifts.I'm with you on core strength being important. I opt for ohp,squats,bent over rows,good mornings,deadlifts and ab work.
I used to have a weak core and the difference is night and day. I feel stronger and generally better (especially in the lower back) now that I take core work seriously. My most important long term goal is being 50+years old with the mobility of a 20 year old.
