Not a huge fan of running for body shaping purposes but if you do then yah 3 miles is about right and should not be that catabolic. Remember if you want very low body fat too much cardio can be your worst enemy. I cut all cardio except for my walking to and from work when I cut and control everything through diet. Extra cardio is something I use off season to prevent things from getting out of control when my eating is not as clean. You may already know all this, I just wanted add my .02 cents.

It's probably cuz I see tons of runners on the path to work and back and almost none of them have what I would call good physiques. I know that most don't know any better and some just like to run and that's cool too. Not everybody is trying to look different. I often wonder though is they knew would they still be running. Like I said 3 miles done quickly is probably fine.
We run twice a week. Typically a 2 mile and a 3. Last year I trained for a half marathon for months and now running will always be a small portion of what I do. That training dropped my resting heart rate from the mid 50's to 47 bpm. Sometimes it gets as low as 43. My trainer gets a kick out of my walking around his room and still sits around 56-57. I credit that to the running. I'll keep it under control and keep lifting. Thanks for the advice!!

You always see beefed out sprinters not so much with distance runners.

Last night did not go as planned. I got stuck at work much later than expected and my wife fell asleep waiting on me. She gave it some effort to wait up but my tired girl was passed out on top of the covers when I got home! We both have this day off together and that does not happen often so we trained at a private spot today. We both did our PX Black and T2 today and a small breakfast shortly after. It was off to get a beat down around 1130am and that is exactly how it went down.

Before Supps:
1 serving Unleashed / each of us

After Supps:
2 scoops ISO-ology for me and 1 scoop of Trutein for her
10g Glutamine
5g BCAA
Multi Vitamin

Training:
Hard to explain because I cannot remember it all. We trained with our personal trainer today and I always forget what we did or don't even know the names of all his moves.

12 reps Side Step Lunches each leg with SS of 12 reps weighted single leg squats. We did 3 sets of these with no breaks except when someone was going to fall over. We got to the floor quickly afterwards and knocked out 50 crunches. Back to our feet and completed 12 reps each leg of some kind of elevated leg on the bench then hopping into the air off the bench (quad work) and quickly to the floor for 12 hip thrusters. 3 sets of those. Last round of super sets were 12 reps again of single leg dead lifts per leg and over to 24 jumping lunges and yes it was 3 sets. After legs we went down for core work of 30 crunches, 30 reverse crunches, 30 toe touches and 30 double crunches.

Last nights dinner

So I have some good news, well for me anyway. My lady is getting more into this and she decided tonight to set up her own account/profile on AnabolicMinds. Now I don't feel so cheesy in my own home and we have something else to share or enjoy together. We completed our two sessions today with arms being the target early this evening in the garage gym. We went at this one GVT style again.

Before Supps:
1 serving of BCAA - we had a late coffee today while we were out running around and that was enough caffeine for one day

After Supps:
Just Dinner!

10x10 Dumbbell Bicep Curls
10x10 Body Weight Dips (Triceps) for the wife and I did pull downs instead using a band
10x10 Dumbbell Shoulder Raises

Rest time was 60 seconds between each round of SS's. I've been sitting still now for a little over an hour and I'm starting to feel that stiffness that comes along after a good day of training. I'll stretch before bed and probably get a scoop of whey in with Glutamine also. I'm sure she and I will be feeling the pain tomorrow and we plan to rest. Our next day of training is scheduled for Thursday after we both get off work.

Din06.25.jpg

Dinner was bomb and I pulled that fat from the meat before I put it down. Tonight's dinner was not traditional and more fatty than normal. I had to cash in on a voucher I had before it expired and picked up a couple pounds of smoked meats from a local retailer. Delicious!!!!

Wife is here...I just read all the posts. My hubby has been quite busy! :)

After yesterday, I have to say...I AM TIRED! And, my glutes are sore! I think today we need to relax and recover.

So far, since we started this log, I feel encouraged. The PX Black & Alpha -T2 wake me up and help w/ curbing hunger & cravings - LOVE IT! However, I haven't seen much change in my weight, which is disappointing. I can tell I have more muscle tone, though. We just don't have an accurate way to measure body fat. That's what's important to me.

I've been counting calories & watching everything I eat. We make sure to have balanced meals and no sweets. :( The desserts are hard for me. It seems every day my co-workers have doughnuts, ice cream, starbucks....today it was brownies....ugh! And I don't cave.

Will power is key! Chromium Picolonate helps with sweets cravings for me also. I'll take it with my last meal of the day so I don't get the midnight snacking blues :) If you want to keep track of bf I would suggest picking up some body calipers. They are very inexpensive and if you have the same person measure you in the same spots every time it will give you a great idea of how you are progressing. I wouldn't worry about the numbers much though. How you feel and how you look to yourself are the most important things. Glad to have you on AM! If you have any questions just ask we are here to help.

We rolled out to the gym tonight shortly after we both arrived home from work. We rested up a bit to get rid of that work stress that follows you home.

Before Supps:
1 serving Hemavol (Me)
5g BCAA - Intra
Food! (Wife)

After Supps:
5g BCAA

Training:
2x10 Warmup Reverse Machine Fly
5x10 Working Reverse Machine Fly
5x10 Wide Grip Lat Pull Down
5x10 Seated Cable Rows
8x10 Pushups 2 sec tempo (me)
8x10 Regular Pushups (her)

The lady did great tonight. Her Lat Pull downs where in perfect form and she did heavy weight in my opinion. I believe she was doing 70lbs if I'm not mistaken. The reverse fly exercise is a good starting point for me and I prefer to finish them first because they are the most difficult. That wife of mine also did all 80 of those pushups!!! No dinner pictures tonight but we both had a chicken pita after the workout and I'll probably have a scoop of whey before bed. Tonight was a good night and hopefully we have enough energy to get some work done tomorrow night also.

No training yesterday but we took our PX Black and she had T2 also. We ate good and rested up for today. This morning again we had our supplements and I went down to Golds by myself while my wife headed off to work. We are training later this evening when she gets home so I'll be getting a double dose today.

Before Supps:
1 serving of Unleashed
.5 serving of Hemavol
1g Taurine
10g BCAA / Intra

I could only put down half of my PWO drink today for some reason I just wasn't in the mood for it.

After Supps:
1.5 serving of Iso-plogy
10g Glutamine

Training:
Today went kind of weird. Was feeling off and did a long warmup of various exercises. Body weight squats, curls, dips, pushups and some other various core work. Then it turned into an actual circuit workout. 45 mins later after I finally woke up and got motivated to begin what I had actually planned to do. Legs! There was a man and his wife on the Leg Press I like to use so I used another machine I don't care for to much but it gets the job done. Homey next to me and his wife were going after personal records and he was grunt'n and huff'n and puff'n and didn't give a DAYUM who starred at him. A few rounds into it he tapped me on my shoulder to catch a glimpse of the guy standing on the bench doing upright rows in sunglasses and loafers. Yes he had on dress shoes and sunglasses in the gym standing on the damn bench press bench doing rows!!!

10x6 Leg Press
20x1 Leg Press
10x1 Leg Press (Could not get 20 on this round, legs were done!)

Today's lunch was 96% lean ground beef and Dreamfields spaghetti pasta. The pasta is suppose to have a lower impact on GI levels and was recommended to me from a co-worker as a healthier option. Taste pretty good.

LOL
well actually, that is a great example of exactly why I do not pay attention to most "scientific" studies:
flawed parameters..it's like those mind-twisters with #s, that seem impossible mathematically but is really in the play on words in which it was presented to you; alto, in all fairness, science would point out the flaws in this beef/fat "logic" that is presented pretty damn well :p
not interesting to me (except for it's ridiculousness), and if you think there is no/very little difference well more power to you but there IS indeed quite a large substantial difference in fat content..you cannot "cook" or drain all the fat or an "extra" amount of fat out of the meat to begin with, beyond a certain extent (ie cooking on foreman grill as opposed to in it's own fat/juices from pan stovetop)..the flaws start very early in this one

06.29.2013 Part II

We went to the Gym last night like we had planned. Completed 6 sets of 10 on whatever shoulder raise machine they use. I obviously don't recall the name of it and we completed 4 sets of 10 using a military press machine. After shoulders we did various core moves such as double crunches, leg raises, toe touches and so on. We didn't write anything down and since we both did different moves it would be a mess trying to type it all out into this log. We easily did somewhere around 100-120 reps then called it a night. Dinner was a clean bowl of food from Genghis Grill with chicken, steak and various veggies.

06.30.2013

Woke up this morning to a nice cup of coffee and shortly after we had our PX Black and T2. My wife cooked up some healthy French Toast using a 45 Calorie Bread made by Eating Right and 1 serving of Whey. We both take a multivitamin and I'm also taking Fish Oils daily as well as Joint Help from iForce. I've been feeling achy and old so hopefully these things will help in the coming weeks. My wife's training today was just her game of soccer and it proved to deliver.

Pre Game Supps:
.5 serving of Unleashed
1g Taurine

The soccer team was short on females today so my wife had to play the entire game! No subs!!! She ran hard and played extremely well. My poor lady started to turn pink/purple after awhile from a good amount of cardio with tons of sprinting. She handled it just fine and she is in great shape so no biggie. The added bonus is she scored a goal today so we had something to celebrate about.

Hubby is smoking some chicken and turkey with new smoker I got him for his birthday. He's a wonderful chef. I hardly have to cook! LOVE IT!

Soccer game was rough. No breaks and it's about 116 degrees in phoenix today. The sports complex doesn't have A/C, only swamp coolers. I was sweating!!!! It was fun, though! I love getting rough with the girls and guys out there. It's funny how the guys are so apologetic when they run into me! I barely notice - guy or girl. Just keep playing. I feel the pain after. I always come away with some bruises. Once the adrenaline wears off, I start feeling all the places I got hit.

Personally, I don't care too much for the lifting part of it. I do it b/c I know it's good for me. I keep telling myself, this is what will make me faster and less likely to get hurt. Soccer motivates me.

I do have a question though... I've read several times throughout this site that too much cardio can have a negative affect when trying to cut body fat and on body "sculpting". My games are 40 minutes total w/ a short break at half time. Am I counter-productive when playing for 40 minutes with intermittent sprinting? I also feel the need to run 2-3 times/week for 2-3 miles. Is this harmful?

If you are training fasted, without any bcaa while doing so, then yes this could be detrimental to Muscle mass that you have acquired. Keep an eye on your weight and if it starts dropping too fast then up the calories some or back off of the cardio a bit. Being overly active can in fact be detrimental to your physique if your diet isn't sufficient for your activity level.

^^ this

typically, extended long-distance running w/o proper nutritional support, will indeed eat up muscle tissue..
think of marathon runners, who mostly sport anemic and non-muscular (or defined for that matter) physiques..
hard to be defined frame, if there is no muscle tissue there TO define :)

Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely not losing weight too quickly. In fact, I'm hardly losing weight at all. I weigh one day and I seem to have lost a pound or two, and the next day I'll weight 3 pounds more. I'm sure it has to do with hydration and all. I'm just trying to focus on how I look rather than the scale.

I ALWAYS eat before working out. I'm the type that has to eat first thing in the morning. I can eat right before running and it doesn't bother me. No problem there! Plus, my husband forces pre & post workout drinks on me!

I feel better now. I was a little worried. I know what you mean about the runners not having any definition.

Progress is very noticeable. Lower stomach is tightening up, waistline is also and legs look much leaner even though measurements show them to be growing.

Looks like you are getting smaller and bigger in all the right places. Keep up the good work!

Trained alone tonight, my woman did plenty during that soccer game and she called it a night early for some well needed sleep. I see she tried to call me out for making her drink the good stuff. If it tasted better she probably wouldn't mind it but it is what it is. Tonight was arms and more core and it was hella hot in my garage. 110F @ 9PM!!!!

Pre Supps:
.5 serving Dr Jekyll
.5 serving Hemavol
1g Taurine

Post Supps:
2 scoops Iso-ology

Training:
10x10 curls
10x20 tricep extensions
30 double crunches
30 toe touches
30 bicycle crunches
20 leg lifts
20 starfish crunches

Workout went very nice and I sweat my A$$ off in there. 15 mins into it I was doing good and I thought it wasn't so bad. 20 mins later and sweat was pouring off everything!!! Had to keep wiping my face off cause sweat kept dripping into my eyes. Never has my heart rate been up so high just doing some dayum arms! There has been people over the years that told me they would do reps in the sauna and I always thought that was some silliness. Well now I have and idea of what that nonsense is and its terrible. Another solid day down and my wife's progress is making me happy!

Weighed in today at 175.6lbs. Almost forgot about that. The weight is where I want it to be and things are taking shape nicely. I'll take progress pics next week and keep working hard.

You're both doing very well in here. As far as the scale goes, I think I've said it on this site a ton of times. Don't worry too much about it, especially if you just started lifting. You're going to put on new muscle while losing fat and muscle is the heavier of the two. As far as losing a pound here and gaining three there, I weighed in at 184.4 this morning. I'll go to sleep at 188. When I weigh tomorrow upon waking...probably 183.8. Point is, you'll fluctuate a lot throughout the day. Rising weight is the only one that I track.

Picked this up off Nutraplanet and it arrived a few days back. The promotional price made it hard to pass up. I've tried a couple different natural test boosters in the past such as D-Pol and Blue something or another from Controlled Labs. They all helped a bit so I figured I could give this one a try. I don't plan to use it right away though, maybe in a month or two. The G8 will probably get used right away and the thermo's will probably be given away to a friend or co-worker. When I give them a try I will post some results, but for now I'll stick to what I'm doing.

Take only half the packet of G8 ur first time. Half a dose is most peoples sweet spot (my own too)

nice sample paks!
montego nailed it on the G8 - most do find 1/2 to 3/4 scoop to be "the spot"..
guess I am an anomaly on that one tho, I need every bit of full scooper for me

1/4 scoop is about all I can handle. Otherwise there's no such thing as an alarm clock.
