Not a huge fruit punch fan after years of that being the only option and not being done well most of the time, but I actually really enjoy the flavoring of this.

Mixed incredibly easily/instantly.

Energy/focus was clean, long-lasting, and came on very gradually.

I really enjoyed my first workout with it.

Had never tried the pink lemonade flavor of MBCAA until this sample, too, and love the flavor. Beats the others I had bought and tried when it was first brought out.

MBCAA is so light and refreshing. I like how its not overpowered in that department.

Agreed. Was very happy with the pink lemonade as a new option. When I opened the sample packet it smelled like Fruit Loops lol -- like the dust left at the bottom of the bag.

Yeah modern pre mixed perfect and the flavor is nice and light. Not over powering over chemical like most preworkouts. Had a second great workout today, added endurance and nice solid energy. Again no added stims other than caffine so nice and clean. Is there a write up for arginine hcl and carb10? Just curious about there function, assume the obvious just wondering.

marc lobliner has a big write up because he uses the carb10 in his new carb product.

USP Labs Modern Pre Review

Taste

Fruit Punch – Modern Pre fruit punch reminds me of Modern BCAA. USP Labs has a great basic fruit punch flavor that gives you a great flavor, and no artificial aftertaste. A middle road Fruit Punch that gives you a great amount of punch upon first sip and can be a very refreshing beverage to be sipped on pre-workout. Some people like to chug pre-workouts, this does not need to be slammed back as it is refreshing.

Mixability

No problems when mixed in various liquid amounts. The bottle suggests 6-8oz of cold water, but I found that even upward to 12oz of water did not impact the flavor. I prefer to dilute the beverage a bit.

Formula

Citrulline 4-8g (Aid Pump/Lactic Acid build up during training)
Betaine 1.25-2.5g (Performance/Endurance)
Creatine 1.5-3g (Performance/Strength/Endurance)
Beta Alanine 1-2g (Aid Performance/Endurance)
Caffeine 175-350mg (Stimulant)
Cognizin 125-250mg (Nootropic)
3-6g of Carb10 (Quick Digeesting Carb)

At 1 scoop it will be under dosed in many aspects, when taken upward to 2 scoops you get a full dose of Citrulline, Betaine, Creatine. Caffeine may be strong for some at 350mg, but there are exceptional stim junkies out there that require that much to get a buzz. The huge addition here in modern pre is the upgraded non-prop label.

Cost

On the IC Deal you got this for 20$ with samples and a barbell T-Shirt. Nearly hard to pass up price per serving for a good pre-workout. That is very cost effective compared to others on the pre-workout market. Now that the IC is done it retails around 30$ for 30/15 Servings (1/2 Scoops).

Workout Reaction

Tried this in 2 fashion Fed and Fasted

Fasted
Upon waking 1 scoop of Modern Pre, 175mg of caffeine is a little under my sweet spot. Right away I felt the caffeine come onward in a totally fasted state. What I did notice was how fast the nootropics and focus aspect took over. The Cognitive function was instant and that is key for a good workout and staying focused. After a few warm-up sets and a few working sets on back I start to feel the Citrulline and pump kick in. The BA/Betaine recovery factors were pretty minimal throughout the workout, but the CM features were more pronounced in a larger dose. Since most items are under dosed at 1 scoop its hard to really give them good feedback due to not being in an adequate dose.

Fed
I decided to jump to 1.5 servings for a few reasons. One being fed the stim may not hit as hard, and two this gives the product at a more reasonable dosage. Kicking up the CM/BA/Betaine and Creatine may aid a bit more than the regular 1 scoop. Energy/Focus wise this was still strong, nothing overpowering, and nothing that made me jitter throughout the workout. While my focus and energy never dropped, I still did not see much as far as recovery/endurance stands. Yes the pump was pretty decent on this with a strong CM dose, a small addition of Agmatine/glycerol would make this a complete pre-workout for the pump category.

I would imagine at 2 scoops this would be pretty potent. My stim tolerance is not that strong so it may blow me out of the water. Which is one of the resaons I would not want to venture that route. Not to mention I could possibly crash hard from the caffeine dose. Overall this is a good pre-workout, a big step up with the open label, and much improved on proper dosing of ingredients at 2 scoops.

there are slow and fast metabolizers of caffeine. The slow metabolizers experience more jitteriness than fast metabolizers..

you may like our next product coming January….I don't even need stims with it….I don't use stims for energy but for workout performance. Those that rely on Stimulants for "energy" need to reevaluate there training and nutrition...

The "energy" I want out of my stim is just that pick me up feeling.

I'm going to the gym or working, or whatever regardless -- but that kick makes it feel so much better.

Sadly its mostly the opposite for many gym trainees
AKA the ones who need 3-4 scoops of pre-workotus to feel anything.
BRO if i aint got my pre-workout i can't hit the gym.
Motivation and lighting the fire within in a lost art.

For sure, man. I hear that all too often.

I just have a horribly high tolerance. I don't triple down on things because of it, but it does hinder me from taking half doses of things and having them be effective. But to be honest, with a preworkout, I want the ingredients in their proven effective doses (which is something ModernPre manages to hit on the nose with the CM, TMG, etc.), and I just try to pick one that has a decent energy component to accompany it -- which ModernPre also does.

I'm looking forward to sampling the other flavors since I generally avoid fruit punch (though this one is enjoyable).

Formula review is not based on formula but is it "high" stim or not....
Have to know your source and if the reviewer knows what he is talking about.

Big change for me years ago when I started paying attention to what was in the pre vs. just how I felt (which was normally just the stim feeling).

My biggest change was focusing on my Micros not Macros....

Once you focus on nutrient density over Macronutrient calories, life changes and a great side effect of focusing on health rather than macro calories....muscle building becomes much simpler.

in my opinion no, to many yes. Because people want that caffeine/nootropic high
i would rather have someone formulate a BETTER formula with properly dosed ingredients then load it with stims.
but personal preference in the end i guess.

hopefully no iron included. since most multi's include it, more iron when you get enough through diet will just cause excessive strain on the digestive tract. A main reason why i use OT atm

We could say this for a lot of ingredients on the market in many categories.
i see companies putting like 6mg of Yohimbine in their pre-workouts coming out soon.. makes you scratch you head.

That is a LOT of yohimbe. I hate that stuff at even 1mg. Pretty sure I'm allergic as I feel terrible on it and it lasts for at least 5 hours, heart rate becomes insane, I get noticeably weaker (like training w the flu in a lot of ways). That's irrelevant, but point is it is fairly potent at 1.5-2mg. 6 is dumb, assuming they're honestly even dosing that truly.

for some people they need upward to .02mg/kg to feel the effects (15-17.5mg) depending on bodyweight once they ramp up to that amount. You just do not respond well. Some people do, some do not. that is why every formula and ingredient will vary from person to person
The ever popular "What is the best pre-workout" thread is simply that.. just what works for that person and how they respond. there is no definite answer. If there was, we would all drink the same stuff, do the same routine, and eat the same diet and make amazing results. The human body is not a textbook.

Modern Pre is really enjoyable so far, initial impression is really favorable. Pretty good pump product but has the amount of kick I appreciate. It can be tough to walk the stim/pump line but at least initially I can say I'm pleased.

More or less tastes like Hawaiin Punch & kids medicine, which is fine, mixes well, strong caffeine drive that comes on quick without the cranked up feel DMAA, DMAE, and Amp deliver (which I can appreciate entirely, but reserve only for circa-maximal training and contest typically as it is draining). Pumps were great and if I had to describe it in one word I'd say 'clean'. Easy to consume, doesn't mess w my gut, doesn't have yohimbe, doesn't make me crash, and it delivers realistic doses of useful ergogens without a lot of proprietary underdosed BS.

So far I'd say this is a pretty polished product, USP Labs.

at 14-16 ounces water is the sweet spot for me, any lower, the actives begin to present a taste.

at 2 scoops, the ingredient amount is hefty...

Plus you get in your hydration, the body likes water....

Plus, you just reminded me, I should give more away.
