ok so I am frustrated and need help!

So I recently just tore my meniscus (OW!) It hurts like hell and I am pretty much immobile. Right before that happened i had really bad achilles tendonitis. I am in love with exercise and prior to these injuries was on my game. I was eating super clean and working out like a fiend. I was lean and feeling great!. Over the course of these 4 months I have gained 15 I was 150 and now I am 165 I am a 5'7 21 year old female.
I am so pissed that I let it get this bad... the problem is I dont know what the hell to eat anymore since I am no longer burning hundreds of calories a day I am sedentary now. I really need help guys... how do you eat when you cant work out!

Whenever you change age, weight, or activity level, your Maintenance calories change. If you're sedentary, then you need to find out what your Maintenance calories are for being sedentary and consume them until you start being active again.

You also do not have to be completely immobile - your rehabilitation programme should have you exercising a little (especially doing upper body stuff) and doing what you can, as well as working on recovery exercises once the pain has deceased.

I see. Well you need to start that as soon as you can, because the longer you leave it, the longer it will take you to recover, etc. You should have a physiotherapist, physical therapist, or trainer who is knowledgeable on musculoskeletal injuries for this.

No worries :) Assess where you are at now and go from there.

Below are some threads I have done on nutrition. Hope they help a bit and provide some insight for ya. Other than this, what Rosie has said is solid. With the major change in activity you need to adjust your diet, even if at the minimum it's your caloric intake. Though I totaly understand where you are coming from having been there myself before. It can be crazy because you are used to eating that much and it can be hard to control portions/amounts.

OMG yes!! I still have the same appetite yet doing sooooooo much less it sucks! I am really trying to eat as clean as possible and my god I miss squats and the stairmaster soooo bad! You do not realize how much you use your knees until you blow one out. I am trying to be patient but it is definitely going to be a long process. Thanks for all of your advice!

Did you get surgery done or are you just dealing with the tear? I ask because I've had TWO meniscus tears and TWO surgeries! I lived with the first tear for over a year and it was bad so I finally went in for arthro and I'm sure glad I did. After about 3 months I was back 100%!

If you've had and MRI done and the tear was on the outer, vascular section, I'd highly recommend repairing it. Meniscus tears are not fun to live with. Range of motion will never be the same unless you get it repaired.

One basic rule of thumb that should serve you well is to have NO simple sugars and no carbs within the last 2-3 hours you are awake at night. Especially the simple sugars.
