Yankees

The curse of the Bambino was broken when ARod went to the Yankees in 2004 and the Red Sox won the WS that year. Since they Red Sox 2, Yankees 0. I think Arod reversed the curse and its on the Yankees for the next 100 years. Its going to be so great to see Yankees fans miserable for generations :nutkick:

Another Nostradamus, wow we are filled prophecies, congratulations:thumbsup:

Their big players are all bought and traded for. Very few are homegrown talent.

Wow, really? .....How about ellsbury, youkilis, pedroia, bucholz, and oh yeah PAPELBON. They are all home grown talent that produced on every level this year. The yankees are a dinosaur team that's now on the verge of extinction.....so sad :toofunny:

ok:
Manny
Ortiz
Dice K
Schilling
Beckett
Lowell
Wakefield

All of these guys were bought and paid for from other teams.

Also, in terms of the yankees being a dinosaur team, its odd you say that considering how young they have gotten. 4/5 of the rotation is under 30 for next year
Wang
Hughes
Kennedy
Chamberlain

I have one last thing to post in this thread and then I'm done. When you think about it, for all of the "vested" interest we all have in our teams ( I have 46 years with the Yankees) when they win, all we really get is the chance to tell others "I told you so", razz them or maybe win a few bucks (Actually, I've done ok with my boys in the past. Sorry to tell you, David and Manny won't be sharing their WS bonus checks with you. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled debate and since it's all over I'm off to football.

GO YANKEES, GO STEELERS

:bruce3:

Well, since all the baseball news has been about the yankees (until the Bonds fiasco tonight) I just thought I would open up the dialogue about ARod. As a die hard yankee fan since 1979, I have to admit to being torn. Part of me was happy to see him and is drama leave, however the other half is happy to have MVP production on a yearly basis. Its an odd feeling.

Also, regarding Rivera, he is currently seeking a 4 year deal as a closer at age 37. If that is the case, Mariano thank you very much for being the greatest closer of all time and the greatest reason for the championships, but nowit is time to part ways and allow Joba to take over.

Finally, dont be surprised to see Johan Santana in Yankee pinstripes next season if the Twins cant resign him. What a staff that would be. The rumors circulating are Cano and Hughes. If thats the case look at this rotation

1. Santana
2. Wang
3. Pettitte (he will come back damn it)
4. Kennedy
5. Mussina

Very, very good.

One thing I will guarantee is that both the Yankees and Red Sox will be back at each other in a big way next year. There's no way that the Yankees and Sox won't both be very good. The bottom line is that as this rivalry goes so goes the popularity of baseball at the present time.

:bruce3:

ok, to all the yankee haters out there. Reports are stating that the Yankees and Twins are getting closer for a deal for Santana.

The deal would look something like this:
Phil Hughes
Melky Cabrera
Minor leage pitcher

for
Johan Santana

It would all be contingent upon Santana signing long term. Man the hate is going to be huge if this goes through

As a Twins fan I would rather see the Twins get nothing and Santana leave after next year than ever see him in a Yankees uniform and help them win a title. The thing is if he leaves next year the Yankees and Red Sox will compete to sign him anyways.

My baseball priorities are 1) Twins winning, 2) Yankees losing in that order

I love haters. You mention in a earlier post about the Yankees being yesterdays news. The Twins are very rarely if ever news and won't be, the Yankees have been and are always newsworthy, love em or hate em.

Yes they will be news because their under achievement year after year is big news since baseball fans all over the country can not get enough of it. Yankees fans do not have souls.

I don't want Santana to stay in the AL, but him playing for the Red Sox will mean the death of the Yankees having any chance of winning a WS in the next 10 years. I hope he goes to the Red Sox.

The Twins management knows the fans will turn on them if they trade Santana to the Yankee$ and it looks like the Red Sox will be offering Jacobe now! Santana to the Red Sox Hopefully!

it is so funny, everyone that *****es about the yankees being bad for baseball, applaudes when other teams do the same thing. I agree, Santana to the Sox would be heartbreaking, but that is just "as bad for baseball" as Santana to the Yankees. Yankee haters are such phonies

The Yankees are bad for baseball because they started most of the ridiculous out of control salary problem. The Rangers realized they messed up with the A Rod deal but the Yankees of course keep paying outrageous salaries. The Red Sox obviously just have to do it as well to complete. Choosing between the Yankees and Red Sox is like choosing between Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez. Both evils but Mahmoud = Yankees, Chavez = Red Sox.

Anyone that doesn't hate the Yankees is as bad for the game as the Yankees themselves.

What an idiotic statement. Obviously you are too young to know that the Yankees just picked up on and had the resources to utilize what the Oakland A's started. Unfortunately for you, the Yankees generate a lot of capital even in down years due to the fact that they are the most prolific team in sports history. The Yankees are are not only good for baseball but, they also are a brand name that represents what our country used to be about, success.

:bruce3:

I personally don't want the sox to trade ellsbury away. They have alot of really good young talent right now. If the sox somehow acquire santana they will have the best starting rotation in all of baseball period. As for Arod, I'm glad the yankees are paying him a ridiculous salary to be an underachiever in the playoffs

Whats that? Is it a person with no soul talking?

If you want the best pitcher in baseball, you are going to have to pay for him. Coco Crisp will not cut it.

Keep in mind you will have to give up more than you want to keep Santana off Satan's team, the Yankee$.

I would take beckett over santana ANYDAY. It would be awesome though to add him to a already very solid starting rotation.

Of course you are going to say that after last years WS, but when you see what Santana can do it wont be such an easy choice. Either way, Beckett and Santana are the two best pitchers in the AL.

there is a good chance that the twins are pricing themsevles out. Asking for Hughes, Cabrera and Kennedy is not going to happen, nor as a Yankee fan do I want it to happen.

However, CNorris, your logic is downright foolish. The Red Sox are doing it to compete? Come on, they have been doing it for a while as well. If you have the money more power to you, you are not breaking any league rules. Hell....look at the $ the Sox payed just to talk to matsuzaka. What a joke
