Anyone think that X-factor would be a good way to gain weight. I am a male who is a hard gainer at 110lb trying to reach 150 lb.
Any help would be appreciated, I dont want to use steroid just because of the side affects, but if you can convince me of an alternative. please help thanks.

You need to eat tons of food and drink tons of water. And do everything you can to lower your metabolism: Burn as few calories as possible (drive, don't walk for example). Go to the gym and stimulate growth by doing as little as possible (warm up and do 3 work sets) and then go home in your car and eat and rest and drink water and repeat. Eat calorie dense foods - eat a large can of peanut butter with a spoon throughout the week, eat lots of cheese and bread. Eat like fat want too. Until you can gain weight on your own, supplements are not going to help you; however, after you have the ball rolling - ARA (X-factor) is a great supplement to bulk with. However, I would recommend Folidrone 2.0 as its easier on the body and joints.

Wait you're under 8 stone?!?!?!?!?!?! All you need to do is eat brother, eat ALOT, eat what you want and eat some more of it! Calories are key, not supplements at that weight haha how long you been training? What's your diet like now? What are your other stats?

My status are : 110lb aside from that am 5' 8'' and I try to eat alot i gain like 2 pounds and i loose it quik. No idea why.
My dieat is at 3 meals a day. I usually bench press 3 times a week, but am 4% fat and rest is muscle and bones to be honest.

X-factor will not help you gain weight. You are not a hard gainer; you're an undereater. Eat more. You may eat "a lot," but "a lot" clearly isn't enough.

4% bodyfat, lulz

If you have eaten enough previously to gain weight but then lose it, either

1) youre decreasing intake again
2) you have a significant undiagnosed health issue

I dont want to unnecessarily alarm you, but if it were me Id be getting the most comprehensive blood panel done possible. Just to check your basic health markers going forward. Its always good to know, regardless.

I have. You don't eat enough.

Hard gainer just means undereater.

Eat 500 cals a day more than you do now every day. If you don't gain any weight after a fortnight, add another 500 cals. 500 cals is easy, it's 2 pints of chocolate milk!
Lift weights on a proven routine and most of that gain will be muscle.

Do that until you don't like how fat you are.

Eat 500 cals less a day, if you don't drop weight for a fortnight drop another 500 cals.
Lift weights on a proven routine and most of that loss will be fat.

Do that until you like how lean you are....repeat the first step.

You see how this works ;)

I might be exaggerating 4% but I went to do a physical and doctor just said to eat more. I have no issue with being an athletic, but I am just not able to gain the weight and sustain it.

So for every meal say a day I have to maintain 2k calories a day I have to add 500 on top or should I put on more.

Also is their any supplement that could help in replacing the meals

At 5'8" and 110 lbs, your burning around 1,450-1,500 calories p/day just by LIVING (Assuming you're somewhere between the age of 18-25)

Factor in walking around, working out, eating, getting dressed, etc., and you can figure you're burning another 500-1,000 calories (depending on how active you truly are). This means you should be consuming AT LEAST 1,700-2,000 calories p/day just to maintain your current weight of 110 lbs.

If you want to gain 0.5-1.0 lb's of bodyweight p/week, you need to be eating an additional 250-500 calories p/day, respectively.

You also need to ensure you're getting enough protein given that you're engaging in weightlifting and looking to build muscle. General rule of thumb is 1.0-1.5g of protein p/pound of bodyweight. For you that equates to 110-165g of protein p/day. That right there is 440-660 calories. The rest of your calories come from FAT and CARBS.

SO BOTTOM LINE: Count your calories!!!!!! Ensure you're getting enough protein. Eat at least 2,500 calories for 3 weeks, and I PROMISE you that the scale will move up. If it jumps by 6 pounds, then continue the process because you know that you are now eating a surplus of calories and can realize that beforehand you were under eating. If it only moves by 1 pound in those 3 weeks, then bump up the calories even more!

You're human. It comes down to calories in vs calories out. There is no secret formula or supplement that will change this. EAT BIG DUDE!!

Also is their any supplement that could help in replacing the meals

You could invest in buying a mass gainer, or better yet, make your own. Get some protein powder, and throw in some milk, peanut butter, bananas, heavy cream, oats, and boom, there's your homemade mass gainer. And it's cheaper too.

Just eat more man, don't need to purchase supplements to pack on weight. Just eat real food and a lot of it, sleep 6-8 hours everyday, and train hard and heavy.

So for every meal say a day I have to maintain 2k calories a day I have to add 500 on top or should I put on more.

You need to eat bigger meals to expand you stomach bag - so you can eat bigger meals. And drink tons and tons of water. You need to eat too much at least twice a day to expand your stomach. Eat big meals at least 6 times a day and carry peaunut butte, cheese, bread and water with you and snack on that in between, before bed and in the middle of the night if you get up to pee. Stop at every third pizza place you drive bye. GEt extra crust, cheese. I think you get the idea. Eat like your 500 pounds and think like your 500 lbs. Eat calorie dense foods. I am a super easy gainer (weighed over 400lbs and now am a lean 240) and wish I could eat like you need too lol. We have the opposite problem. I have helped many folks put on weight - just follow this simple plan and spend your money on groceries and toilet paper and not supplements. Buy stuff by the case and buy lots when on sale. Keep us posted bro cause we know you can do it this time!! And please do everything you can to reduce the calories you burn - that means training for short periods only to stimulate growth. Don't beat yourself up at the gym going to heavy and doing too many sets. Get in, stimulate and get out and drive home, don't walk.

I'm talking eat a WHOLE tub of peanut butter a day, add olive oil to your shakes, buy a mass gainer, double all your meals, you're not eating enough, eat double what you eat now and split it into 6 meals boom you'll start putting weight on

I'm thinking this is more health related than it is diet.

Your doc is saying everything is fine?

And 5'8 isn't a typo?

I could see if you said 4'8..

I am pretty healthy, i could run 3k with ease, and I been a basketball captain all of high school, and also university. I checked with so many physicians, they said health wise am fine , they just stated that my metabolism is to fast and tend to down everything really quick. so they told me to just eat more than i usually do.

I would normally say (like already mentioned) get comfy with peanut butter. Like spread that shiz on yourself...

But I just can't. I refuse to believe this is diet related.

My buddy who is also 5'9 almost died from liver failure before having a transplant got down to 95lbs and I remember what that looked like, so I'm staying out of this one.

Good luck OP!

The problem with a mass gainer is it is just extra calories and if you consume the mass gainer and are then full, you may be less likely to follow through with the next meal or eat in surplus. I've seen people just switch calories out from food with a mass gainer and thus NOTHING happens. There's no secret formula in a mass gainer that helps you gain weight...it's just calories.... so mass gainers are good, but they're just a tool. Not a secret weapon. Granted, it can be easier to just chug down 1,000 calories in the form of a shake than to eat 1,000 calories worth of food. Just need to make sure it's EXTRA calories and not simply substituting calories

So far I got some great insight, I will try this for 3 weeks where i add and extra 500 calories and 165 p/day protein on top and see how it goes, if the gaining start.
Thank you everyone for the extra help in info, I will keep you posted on the progress.

hello sdog77 that not something good to say man, its like wishing on to me. any how i checked my liver and as i said i did a lot of test to see why this is happening. it seems to be fine. I will keep you posted soon enough about the pictures of the gain hopefully it works out. Also thanks for the insight.

I think we've found the sort of dude Rip was thinking of when he dreamed up the insanity that is GOMAD ;)

X-factor is just Arachidonic Acid, at nigh on 3 times the price it is at Enhanced Athlete...and they know how to over price stuff themselves!

It won't make you gain weight...it might help you gain a tiny amount more muscle for the work your doing (via increased muscle inflamation), presuming there are further gains to be had at that moment in time.

Sdog is a good dude, I dont think he is wishing ill of you man. I suspect he is thinking there may be something more to your scenario than just the need to increase kcals.

Oh yea, sorry OP I didn't mean you take it like that. I just have a difficult time picturing your frame in my head. Def no ill will man.

You just need to learn more about diet and training. The fact that you think you're 4% bodyfat indicates as much: Invalid Link Removed

Getting the fundamentals down will help you where a supplement is less likely to without the fundamentals.

In short, you need to read more about how to train and eat to gain and maintain significant weight, but it basically involves a lot of calories every day, and progressively heavier compound lifts.

I disagree, a decent mass gainer has super simple carbs (malto/dextrose) which isn't harsh on the stomach so you could be hungry an hour later, try eating 1000 kcals of chicken and rice and eating in 2 hours. Yes it's just calories but easier digested calories. A great tool for "hard gainers". I'd always suggest someone who's struggling to gain any weight to eat spot of easy **** to put down like if you wanna have a five guys with large fries do so coz it WILL help you gain weight and WONT fill you up to the max

Yea thats valid. A mass gainer will probably digest quicker than equal calories of "real" food. Just important to remember calories in most be greater than calories burned, otherwise the mass gainer isn't any more effective than eating what you normally eat

Mass gainers are expensive. It is much cheaper and healthier to make your own out of whole foods.

For sure, most gainers usually only have 16-20 servings per tub, and it'll get expensive real fast. Just make your own, it's more cost effective and you know exactly what you're putting in it. Also, I don't think I mentioned this in my other post from earlier, but OP, don't view a mass gainer as a meal replacement, use it as a way to get extra calories in your diet instead.

To put on weight, you need to stop running (and reduce walking) and limit basketball and other sports and activities that burn calories. Once you do get going on the weight gain (I mean after a solid 20 lbs) I believe that your body will lower its metabolism (mine raised during losing nearly 200lbs) making gaining more weight easier.

Nah i would avoid supplements

I used to be 120 and now at 190 .. hence it took me 10+ years

Just have to eat more and more .. add in weight gainer shakes + creatine mono

Agree here .. I started off with ultimate nutrition and helped me put on alot of fat weight

Making your own is easy & affordable .. Just work needs to be put in

You don't need that much protein at your weight 100-120 is plenty, eat more bread rice pasta potatoes. When I first started working out I gained 25-30 lbs in 3 months and made massive strength gains, by noon every day I had eaten 6 pbjs and a half gallon of milk I'd hit the gym and after have a protein shake and a banana for dinner I'd have a half pound of meat a giant bowl of pasta and another half gallon of milk between then and bed. Food =weight, supplements other then maybe creatine are a waste in your situation. You gotta be more consistent with your food intake.

If your health is solid, get an app like MyFitnessPal and track EVERYTHING you eat. How do you know how many calories or how much protein you are getting unless you track it?

Use the app for a week to get all you foods in, then once you know your cals and macros, you can add more. 3 meals a day? How about a couple snacks or a 4th meal?

Eat more and lift more.

One secret is basically make a mass gainer+protein shake before bed, wake up for 15 min at night, chug them both, back to bed. That's easily an extra 1000 calories right there. High metabolism is a gift. You just need to develop it.

Once you can eat a lot, Lift 6x a week. Lifting heavy can keep your metabolism raised for over 24 hours afterwards. Do this every day and your metabolism will explode. It may seem like the opposite of what you want to be doing (raising maintenance ) but it will likely make You hungry as hell, which is exactly what you need. You have a fast metabolism, which, ironically, can make for amazing gains if you feed it right.

If you eat your normal 2000calories a day and do the midnight mass gainer, you'll get fricking big in no time and it won't even seem like you're eating more.
