Working out with bulge disc?

Hello, I`ve had a bulged disc now since 2011...
I`ve learned to "tough it out" but I can see the difference it has caused me in my body.
I`ve lost a lot of leg mass.. any other guys here have the same problem? Thx

Im 44 and have had a bad lower back disc for the past 15 years which progressively got worse since I was still wanting to squat and deadlift. I finally got serious about taking care of it since it was affecting me being able to be active with my kids. I told my doctor about it. Long story short. He referred me to a DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) specialist, gave up everything that made it hurt, and am doing exercises to make it better. Discs aren't anything to fck with. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Someone on here recommended the book The Back Mechanic by Stuart McGill. It helped a little but seeing the DNS doc has really improved my quality of life.

55 here. Had a herniated disc, L5,S1 about 10 years ago. Have had probably 5 cortisone injections and met with surgeon to discuss surgical options, which I didn’t proceed with. Started doing basic planks every day and now have graduated with the most advanced planks. I also do Hack squats with landmine which keeps my form in check. Also hip thrusts and lots of stretching! If back hurts with any exercises drop weight, check form and if no improvement stop that exercise for a few weeks. For me, having a rock solid core has been the key. 10 years later my back is doing very good. Even if I have a flare up now it doesn’t last long. At 55 I’m the best shape of my life! I know this might not work for everyone, but it has worked for me. Back pain sucks!!! Keep at it and make your core the center of you workout!

Good luck!

Here with multiple disc issues. Roughing it out works only so much. I had to treat it and rest due to how it affected my workouts and my life. Sometimes it sucks but you have to get it treated.
