Why stack compounds?

I know steroids will increase igf-1 and increase protein synthesis so why would adding another compound increase results?

And, i know some compounds are no longer effective after a certain dosage, why is this? is this because you can only be so anabolic?

different hormones do different things.. some are more androgenic than others.. while yet others are more anabolic. some even exert their effects through attaching to other types of receptors and ect.. there are many reasons one would want to stack things.

Do all compounds do different things? could you stack two dht compounds for example?
