Hi Everyone,

My blood tests showed high creatinine and uric acid.

1. What causes it?

a. My guess is creatine with water leads to creatinine.

b. High uric acid is from eating more protein than my body is using?

2. How dangerous is it? What will happen to me at what time intervals?

I’m not real familiar with uric acid, but creatinine can rise from a workout.

What is your BUN? Does your blood work indicate your eGFR? If not, find an online calculator and plug in your info.

Physical activity, especially resistance training, increases creatinine and can lower eGFR to look like there is a kidney problem. Creatine can have a minor affect, but it more related to how muscle is broke down during training. I generally take 5-7 days off of any strenuous workouts before labs.

Uric acid rises with physical activity as well, but it is related to the intensity more than the length of time/effort. So resistance training is a culprit here as well.

This is correct. It can also manipulate basic liver test since most of them are going by the amount of broken down soft tissue in your system. My bloods have always been just a tad off but that makes them my personal baseline because they have always been around the same number.

Creatine supplementation will elevate creatinine levels.
