i bought this months ago (it expires 2022) and it was the first time i tried it today. I liked it however it tasted quite perfume like, almost like parma violets. I'm wondering which ingredient might possibly have that taste?

here are some amino acids found in this drink:

whey protein hydrolysate

Oligo-fructose
Taurine
L-Glutamine
L-Lysine
L-carnitine L-Tartrate
Glycine
Niacinamide
Pyridoxine Hydrochloride
Riboflavin

Thiamine Hydrochloride
Chromium Picolinate

hmhh weird .. how about "other ingridents" anything listed there or they leave that part out ?

Its most likely something in the flavor system itself or an unforeseen taste action between something in one of the ingredients and something in the flavor system.

GQdaLEGEND the only ingredients are these and i pretty much named them all.
i see sns8778, so you think some of the ingredients combined together could make a specific flavour compound?
makes sense i guess. before my workouts i feel pumped but it's perfume like lol not the worst tasting thing, i can withstand the taste unlike with parma violets lol tis odd. it's not bad but it ain't great either lol 🤯
really appreciate the replies and help here btw guys thank you xxx

I have worked with flavor systems in trying to flavor our products and product of other companies that I've helped. People that have never worked with flavor systems would be amazed how difficult it is and how sometimes odd flavor occurrences can happen. I could see how it would happen with the whey hydro and flavor system.

BUT it could also be an issue with properly cleaning the equipment and not properly rinsing it properly and some of the cleaner sticking to it.

If it were me - my policy is when in doubt, don't use it. But that's mostly because I have food allergies so if I suspect there's even a small possibility it could be cleaning related in any way, I have to be extra careful.

I will say that good grade Whey Hydro tastes terrible and is hard to flavor and Matcha flavor is hard to work with anyway.

oh god you're telling me i could be drinking cleaner? that can't be good for my health at all. o_O so i was going to buy another batch to test if the second one would be the same. but it's so damn expensive. needless to say if it's the product or the error of the manufacturers i will never know.

i am, however buying their instant coffee with collagen and some of the same ingredients as this product (fewer)
if that has a perfume flavour I'm weighing it down to the manufacturers error. thank you for your help it's very appreciated. i will just buy normal matcha latte next time lol xx

I wish I knew a definitive answer to your question. The thing is I don't know what is or isn't allowable where its produced. But IF you are, it actually is probably food grade to begin with so besides a bad taste or possible upset stomach, I doubt there would be any issues. Nothing against Bangkok, its one of the places in the world that I want to visit the most.

I as going to ask if you had a second container from a different batch bc without that, you probably wouldn't know.

I'm curious - what are you using it for? The reason I ask is that it just isn't something that we could commonly see popular here.

If I had to guess, I would guess it was something between the flavor system and they whey hydrolysate; I just didn't want to tell you it was 'okay' if that makes sense.

I'll say in general that Matcha is hard to flavor nutritional products with. I've never tried to flavor a protein with it, but I've worked with it trying to flavor a product in our line and never could get the flavor right yet.

i was using it as a sort of energy/muscle boost like a pre-workout. i'm trying to lose weight because i look like a mix between a pear and deformed potato. (i'm f/5ft1/29) it had all kinds of different amino acids and i wanted to also see what the fuss about matcha latte was about. i quite like how creamy it is and i haven't had an upset stomach from it (i have consumed 1 everyday for 2 days and no adverse effect. i felt pretty good after taking it, almost in the zone.
though i have ordered some real pre-workout. cherry cola by bodybuilding warehouse. the tingle/itch feeling is bizarre but apparently that's how you know it's working.
in fear of the matcha latte being full of cleaner i ordered this, to take on the days i don't consume pre-workout. i don't want to build a tolerance to pre-workout which apparently happens over prolonged use.
