Why do High Rep Squats Work, When High Reps of Many Other Things Fail?

I like barbell squats for being the best exercise out there.

I know high rep squats work in a unique way. High rep squats (and maybe deadlifts) can do what high rep bench press, pullups, etc. cannot.

But, what is the science behind it?

Why can someone actually gain strength and mass on high rep squats?

My guess is that high rep squats work the core, power transfer, conditioning, etc.

How high is high? 20 reps? I do high rePs on bench since I got injured twice going heavy and it still works. Never did more then 10 on deadlift and usually less. It be worried about form breaking down and getting injured. Breathing squats or 20 rep squat program is great though.

One on my favorite leg workouts is 100 rep squats with 95lbs.

What is it that you are implying it is better at?

I think that is possibly a false thought process that high reps of other exercises don't work.

I believe it’s more the intensity because unlike other exercises when you’re taking a long break between squat reps it’s a bit “easier” to keep going.

20 rep squats are supposed to start with your 10 rep max technically

probably a lot easier to cheat on most other movements when going for high reps
