Whole grain Lucky Charms??

Saw on the news today, General Mills is taking all of its cereals to whole grain. Even stuff like Lucky Charms and Trix. Won't change the suger content unfortunately, but its a nice start.

Yeah as much as I hate the adkins diet, I have to admit it has done a turn around on fast food and other things. The other day I was driving by Jack in the Box and saw that they had "low carb buns." Everywhere people are using whole grains instead of just white bread. Its still not up to bodybuilder quality, but it is getting closer

It's slightly deceptive in the nutrition department but yeah, it's a step towards something a little less synthetic...but sadly the maker of TWINKIES is going out of business. I almost cried when I heard it even though I haven't had a Twinkie in years, lol.

They'd need to up the fiber content of the Lucky Charms drastically to make the whole wheat deal worthwhile.

Actually, wheat fiber does not affect insulin levels according to a few books I have been reading. I found it quite interesting. If you look in the nutrition section you might see my quote from the book. The fiber from it is still good for digestion etc, however.

I thought that quote stated that finely ground whole wheat flour was no better than white in regard to insulin levels..unless you add additional fiber.

WOW, that's a shame...not that I ever eat twinkies (since I was a kid), but it's almost a generational icon. It is quite sad, that our kids won't ever know what a twinkie is. Kind of makes you feel old...
