Who is the best HW boxer in the last 25 years?

I think Tyson, the day he beat Spinks.
L.L. no way. He got KO'd by some chumps.

Holyfield was no punk though. He's definatley in the top 4 or 5

1. Tyson
2. Ali
3. Holyfield
4. geroge forman
5. Joe frazier

It would be great to see a round robin tournment with these guys.

I hope that is not your greatest ever list. How can you leave Dempsey and Joe Louis off of that list?

Think about when tyson lost to buster.
1. Gus died
2. married to robbin givens
tyson the day he beat spinks was his best day.

George Forman

You have to consider him one of the best also.
I think if he rematched Ali in the U.S. Forman wins. Or if Foreman only fights in the U.S. and not the Rumble in the Jungle Foreman might win.

Not so much in this thread. A lot of Foreman's big wins were over 30 years ago. In the last 30 years, the only big fights I can remember Foreman in, was a victory over Michael Moorer, and losses to Evander and Tommy Morrison.

The more I think about it, I think it's pretty clear that Lennox was the best in the last 25 years. I think he only had 2 losses, and avenged both. He pretty much dominated, he was bigger than most of his opponents, but you can't fault him for that.

^^^^
Really, obvisouly you didn't read the link.
He beat Frazier twice.
Yea, Formeman was an old man when he lost. what do you expect when your 45+ fighting a younger opponent.
Klitchscko(sp) put Lewis into retirement.
Oliver mcall and Rockman were good?

You're looking pretty bad here. You're telling me I didn't read the link? YOU apparently didn't read the thread title or any of the thread. The thread is "Who is the best HW boxer in the last 25 years"? Does that help? Like I had stated in my previous post, although Foreman was a great boxer, he didn't have any great success in the last 30 years. He beat Frazier twice, but that was 30 years ago. You're point that he was 45+,what do you expect, contradicts you bringing him up as one of the best in the last 25 years. Next, how the hell did Klitschko retire Lennox? Lennox TKO'd him, the fight was stopped due to a cut on Klitschko. Anyways, nothing could be more clear than Lennox>Foreman in the last 25 years, and that's what this thread is about.

I think a lot of were just amazed by Tyson's potential that it blinded us about his actual achievements. I think Tyson had the tools to be the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) but he squandered it by raping women, cutting off good people from his life, and surrounding himself with a bunch of leeches.

I personally like Holyfield the best because that guy has the biggest heart I've seen. He was extremely overmatched by Bowe but he beat him once and made him go through hell the 2 other times.

I think Lewis is the best of the last 25 years. He had the boxing skills that you don't see with guys his size anymore. He could have been better prepared for the first fight against Rahman but he did get revenge for his mistake. He even made David Tua (extremely feared at the time) look very bad. Lennox was a very smart fighter too and I think the David Tua fight showed us that.

IW, I agree about Holyfield. That guy has the most heart by far. Consistently competing and usually winning against guys 20-40 pounds heavier. What was the deal with his mouthpiece? That thing was enormous, and seemed to hinder his breathing.

No clue about his mouthpiece but that's a good observation. Another thing about Holyfield is that he is the only heavyweight to win a title 4 times.

Ok, Marcino is out of the debate then.
So the best H.W. since 1982.
I'll take Tyson, the day he beat Spinks in 90 seconds.

Here you go so you can get your facts straight.

Vitali Klitschko was leading on all 3 score cards.

I'm ina huge toss up between Holyfield and Tyson...

It's also hearsay that Tyson wanted to avoid Holyfield in 1991 so if that helps then go with the Real Deal

Only thing where Holyfield f'ed up is by boxing past his prime. The dude has f'ing slurred speech and lost to John Ruiz which should have been the wake up call. I still think that's better then Tyson who lost to an unknown Irish boxer in his last fight.

Give up buddy. Quit trying to act like I was wrong. You were wrong on all counts, now man up. Get my facts straight, what are you even talking about. You said Klitschko retired Lennox. How do you retire somebody by losing to them?

Lewis retired after that fight.
Watch the fight Vitali didnt want to stop the fight. The ref. stopped the fight.

Losing on all 3 score cards seems like your losing.

How about we take a vote?

Besides Vitali is coming back after back surgery.
Lewis can get a chance to prove it was a fluke he was getting his butt beat.

You can make the same argument with Evander.
Beating Big Lou..not impressive

Losing to Luiz...bad

tyson vs. holyfield in their prime would have been a great fight.

We will let everyone read this and see what they say.

Retiring someone requires actually winning and usually in devastating fashion. He WAS losing the fight, but he ended up winning, and hurting Klitschko in the 6th round. I doubt Lewis is going to come back to boxing. I don't think he has the desire, and he is way out of shape. Let's kill the whole Lewis/Klitschko thing.

Tyson's talent was undeniable, but looking at Lennox's record, and then at Tyson's, it's hard to say Tyson was better over the last 25 years. He surely had the potential, but he f*cked up.

I think this question, when distinguished between who was the best boxer at the utmost of his prime and who has had the best career, in the past 25 years you come up with three names:

Tyson
Holyfield
Lewis

Tyson, IMO could beat ANYONE (Ali included) when he was around 20-22 years old. Making him the best fighter in his prime.

When you talk about best careers, Lewis wins hands down. There is no disputing that.

Holyfield was more of a combonation of the two. He has had a great career, was amazing in his prime, but as of recent, he is too old and continues to fight, which puts a damper on his legacy.

Agreed...?...?...?...

To be fair, if Tyson did fight Holyfield when they were both at their prime then Tyson would have probably won. Holyfield would have to move up from 190 to fight Tyson and I don't think he would have been able to withstand Tyson's power since A) He would've been brand new to the heavyweight division and B) Tyson was KO machine at that point in his career.

I agree 100%.

alexand well drop the lewis vs. vitali debate.
but here are the facts.

Instead, Lewis fought Vitali Klitschko, the WBC's No. 1 contender and former WBO titlist. Lewis had planned to fight him in December, but since Klitschko had been on the undercard of the Johnson fight anyway, they agreed to square off on June 21. Lewis entered the ring at a career high 256 1/2 pounds.[8] For the first time in his career, Lewis was shoved around the ring by an equally strong fighter and was dominated much of the fight, being wobbled in round two. However, Lewis gave a better showing in the fifth and sixth rounds, with Klitschko himself badly hurt by an uppercut in round six. Before the start of round seven, with Klitschko ahead on all three scorecards, the ringside doctor stopped the fight due to a severe cut above Klitschko's left eye. Lewis was awarded the win by TKO. The likely winner of this fight, had it continued, has been a subject of popular debate ever since.

Agree Tyson vs. Holyfield in there prime in the past 25 years.
