When will this "Metro" age end

Metrosexuals started off because of the trends in consumerism. What I mean by that is nowadays, everyone is pretending they make $500,000 a year when they only make $50,000. Looking female is a sign that you have a lot of wealth and remember, perception is reality. Women have always been attracted to wealth and if they see a guy who looks like he makes lots of money, she will become more attracted to him. Plus with the way clothing stores gouge prices anyway, she might be right :think:

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with male/female dominance characteristics. Making men more feminine is just because its the best way to tiptoe around. Thats what being PC is; being cautious. Males have been known to be adventurous people. Not anymore. When you force kids at a young age to walk on eggshells, its going to warp what is considered good and bad both directly and indirectly. I can recall those times where I was yelled at for admitting I went hunting or didn't care to be sensitive. That would change me normally. They were too late as my parents pretty much set the foundations down before the schools ever could. With parents gone, there's not that support system for true virtues...assuming the parents were good anyway.

This society seems to have some kind of quasi-feminism. Women have more power than ever but women are objectified now more than ever. Women think that dressing provocatively and being promiscuous is a sign of power but the reality is pretty much the opposite. You don't have any power if the other side (the man) just picks up and leaves afterwards. I suppose females can have the thrill of power for the duration they have sex. Maybe its why girls are becoming more sexually active: to relive the few minutes where they're in charge (self-absorption).

To get back to the point, it will change. Fashion trends will always change. This metro fad is a lot like how it was in the 1980s. The only question is when. Probably won't happen for a couple more years so its best to stick to your ideals and ride the wave.

Yet another good point. I know a few 180lb. in shape guys that would hand me my ass simply because they're crazy as all hell. I know that I def don't size anybody up anymore. Don't judge a book by it's cover or one day you might end up having to get a nike shoe surgically reomved from your anus. :D

I think that's my hang-up on this issue: why the waifs? I've asked female friends who are attracted to that kid of guy, and have yet to get an answer. Guys with no asses, no chest, no strength and no balls. I don't see the point of it. It puzzles me, how someone I may accidentally step on and have to scrape off the bottom of my shoe might be attractive in some way. You could fart and send some of these guys to Brazil with the force of it.

I've had my ass kicked by a guy who was nearly a midget, so I know where you're coming from. But you could tell he was a tough motherfucker, you know? It's perceivable but not really explainable.

I think being able to pick up and throw guys that are bigger than me is an immense plus for someone of my size, though. :)
 
but

i know what your talking about with the whole waif thing. being 150 with your collar up is screaming to me to kick your ass (i had one of these guys call me out at a bar....starting flashing a police badge at me). now, if you're stuck at 150 fine, but if you're striving for the look of someone at 150, I don't see the point.

as i said, being a man...and being truly attractive to a llot of women is more about how you handle yourself. i've heard more than my fair share of women bad mouth a guy after shaking his hand when he shakes like a woman....i've also heard my fair share of gorgeous woman saying they like a "manly man".

Man, dude had long unwashed straggly hair, and righ then I head to question my own Metrosexuality, I would take a shaved tanned muscular body over that dudes look anyday.

But...why was that girl with him? She did look twice at me however, ok maybe not.

See it alllll the time. There was this one chick back when I was in high school that was hot and nobody knew who her BF was b/c he was graduated, etc, etc. Well...one day I'm at a party and I see her with this total goofball. I was thinking "that HAS to be her brother...looks like her kind of?" then about 2 minutes after I was saying that she give him a big sloppy kiss and I was like "whoa...not her brother." :lol: I just assumed he was half donkey and / or rich :D
 
kwyckemynd00 it would be great to hear your gurl and the other 2 I know of (wranglergirl and mab904) chime in on this, because it's almost a total mystery.
 
They'll probably all say its "an insecurity" issue for many, and in other cases just that the girls dont care as mucha bout looks.

There have been a few studies that show women find men who provide security attractive, whether it be financial, physical, or emotional (the insecure chick with the buff stud is not emotinoally secure).

Although I'm not "actually" baffled when i "think" about it, I am always shocked when I see it :D

same goes for guys...my older bro is an insecure guy and ALWAYS has crazy unattractive girls (despite being an attractive guy) around him. he even says things like "pretty girls do this, or are that" and other BS that makes him feel better about himself.

I just dont know WHY he's so insecure in the first place????

Possible that he was treated accordingly when he was younger. When you're cast out of the crowd at a young age and left alone, you don't build good social skills, and that also hurts your sense of self worth: "Why are they treating me this way? I must be ugly (or a loser, etc)"

I know I've had to deal with insecurities stemming from MY past. It just takes time and friends (and spending time dating around just to have fun) to help you get out of it.
 
It's like I said, metrosexuality and the demasculinization of the male gender is a result of several causes. Being a "man" does not mean one has to be posturing, bragging, demeaning to others or discriminatory to women. Note that the same reasons used to demonize being male are used to demonize persons who use anabolic substances. Masculinity in its true form is in a uniquely male self-confidence, a desire for achievement, the will to strengthen body and mind, the triumph of form over fashion. You don't have to dress like the Brawny towels guy in order to be masculine. Some of the best examples of "manly men" have been sharp-dressed and well-taken-care-of. Look back in the 1940's at how film stars acted. There were many well-groomed, intelligent and respectful men in those movies, but they could never be described as "feminine". There was a line that wasn't crossed in those days, and it was with reason. A masculine man tends to desire a female counterpart who is very different than himself. It is that difference which makes a woman attractive. The yin-yang relationship between the sexes is an important part of what makes the human race.

When women attempt to supplant that role and become masculine and men are required to be feminine, problems begin to arise. Women, in general, are not physically designed to handle the same tasks as men. Biologically and even mentally, the differences abound. What women (feminists) who attempt to be equal or superior to men by becoming them fail to realize is that in doing so, they make themselves look inferior. It is flaunting and exploiting the differences which shows equality or superiority. By saying, "I'm a woman and I can be just like a man," women insult the greatness of their own gender and unintentionally tout maleness on high. Women can't make better men any more than a mouse can make a better elephant. These politically correct ideas are designed to weaken the human race, not strengthen it, and all in the guise of "enlightenment". I don't think a pink shirt can really change the person wearing it to be more or less masculine. Now if that same guy speaks with a lisp and shakes your hand like a wet noodle, that might be a better indicator. :nono: :run:

He was in some special ed classes as a kid and my mom babied him. Personally, I think its from all of the babying...both he and my youngest sibbling are both insecure and they were both babied to high hell.
 
I just want to agree with some of the other posts, in saying that it doesn't matter what wear or what music you listen to. Masculinity is about raw confidence, aggression, pride in self, competitive mind set, and a strong will. I may not be the biggest, best or toughest guy around but I can hold my own. And my 6'1"/185ish lbs self would take a brutal ass beating from a guy twice my size instead of be his bitch, and if he is not careful I'll hand his ass to him. And just because some one is not big doesn't mean that he can't be tough as nails and very masculine. I'm a marine and I know that there are many other marines/former marines on this board and I think they would attest to the fact that some of the scariest drill instructors that I've seen are the small ones. My point is that whether your a jay culter clone or brad pitt type build (ecto) the important thing is that you care about keeping your body strong and take pride in your athletic abilities and personal achievements and are a ball-z tough mother fucker. A true man has the heart of an athlete. A hunger to compete, to achieve, and to be better. And to possess animal aggression, but have the mental discipline to control that aggression.



As for the women going for weak dudes, it's really simple think about it. The most important thing to a woman is security, and when she's in control she feels secure. She feels out of control with dominate guys, although I even through she'd never admit it a women who is ok with a weak man has convinced herself that she is happy with 2nd best. She will never achieve a true deep fulfilling relationship with a weak dude, he is just her boy-toy that is nothing more than a pet to her. No matter how dominate a man is if he can communicate to a women that he respects her and she can trust him and that she can be secure in him and 99.99% of all women will choose the dominate guy who she can trust over a metro guy that is her toy. Good relationships are about trust and communication and equality. Men can be very dominate and aggressive and be totally non threatening to very independent, driven, and strong willed women. It's simple it’s based on friendship that is built on equality and there is a balance of power and control between partners. It's kinda the difference between two people having a great time walking in a set direction, or two people fighting about which way to go. Even if she is just a booty call, being genuine, respecting her as a person and being honest (making her feel secure in what’s happening through realistic and honest expectations) doesn’t detract from you being manly, and destroys the ONLY advantage that metros have. Choosing to dominate (relationship wise, dominating in the bedroom is ok ;-) your partner will only result in a loss of respect. I can choose to lead a relationship when I feel it's needed, but I don't want to use the fact that I'm bigger, stronger, faster, more competitive, and more assertive to my advantage, it's not fair just like women using sex to manipulate men is not fair (which I don't tolerate, she wants to use sex as a weapon then she is starting a war that she will not win). People caught up in this metro culture are just selling themselves short of a full and purposeful life and true love, just like people who are content with possessing no self discipline, fitness, focus, or direction. In the end the women who choose weak men are just advertising that their insecurities, weaknesses, and fears. Men and women with things to prove to the world and who are caught up in what others think are just showing they have no clue how to handle themselves in the real world.
 
If I'm elected president i will open up our borders to the many thousands of gorgeous eastern euro and south american women clamoring to get in our country and change the balance of power overnight. I will give special waivers to all the fine upstanding young ladies from brazile
I typically see a lot of good looking dudes with not so good looking women and I mark this as a simple supply and demand problem or the fact that men are beat down and women are built up in our culture.
My guess is when you see an attractive women with a not so attractive guy they are just 'friends' or she is passing time with him until Mr right comes along or she is just using him. A good chunk of women don't even see men as human and our culture supports this veiw for some reason
In there defense a lot of women think if they don't have an ass like a 12 year old boy they are ugly for some bizarre reason

I saw this idiotic tv show on MTV called 'next' or something like that. A reality dating show. People would come out and talk to to a potential date and sometimes the person would 'next' them or send them away. what killed me is the fact that it wasn't enough to reject them but they had to insult them a little bit(on national Tv) say stuff like you look like ronald mcdonald or you should check into jenny Craig. Fucking classless
It's not enough that a person is unattractive or doesn't have a good job or is insecure or is poor or not successful with the opposite sex, we have to call them names on top of everything else, lable them as losers. Our culture in a nutshell

What a great topic!!!! Metro sexual... I can't take it anymore.. I agree b5150 about asking permission. Just had that happen to me a year ago.I bought a new chopper. Wife was pissed big time because I didn't get final approval from her.. But she was consulted in decision making I just made final decision. And here's why:

When we met 6 years ago she was in Credit counciling. I was not.
I was making 90k a year she was not working. I paid off her debt which she had before we met. Which was sizable. I had no debt. I bought her a new home after we were married. She could not go on the mortgage because of prior credit problems. I bought her a new car. Now I have to suddenly ask permission to make purchases. WTF... because my healthy income is half hers now. It is ok to get them out of debt and buy them the things they want just don't spend any of your hard earned cash on yourself..Guess what That dog won't hunt with me.

out of shape and unattractive women walking around like diva's..what is going on in society today..It has to be the culture of today. I recently had 2 girls sit next to me at a club. Both were average. The one next to me started talking to me and we got into a really good conversation. I wasn't trying to pick her up told her I was happily married. Just having a good convo. Then her friend says to her for me to hear "why are you wasting time on that guy he's nothing. " I could not believe it nor could she..she was very embarassed. This chick was average at best. I am not George Clooney but good looking enough to be homecoming king in 86..lol.. Then she is over talking to some skinny little goofy kid who can't afford to move out of mommy and daddys house.. I think a lot of women today do not like the more masculine of the species because of inferiority[sp] issues. I think they are looking for a little boy they an hold down and won't get away when she sneaks her strap on up his ass...lol

I was cast out and I developed good social skills. I haven't even punched anyone in over a month.

I didnt develop social skills until I started working a job in aggressive retail (it pretty much MAKES you learn to deal with people you like and dislike).

In over a month huh? hehehe :clap2:

I've rarely punched anyone... a few times when I was younger... why punch when throwing is so much more fun? :head:

The Gays have always been there and belive me, I live in northern cali haha they are always there.
And dont look, sometimes I'll just be looking around the gym and I guy will smile and say whats up and then his earing is on the right side hahaha.
You'll be suprised how many bodybuilders are gay but not part of that metro crap, they just like ass thats all lol
 
What I cannot understand is "skaters" thinking they are bad asses wearing girls jeans......tight ones (not the cool "tight", the actual tight)

I worry a lot about how I look but i never at all lean toward girl ****, or "unisex" whatnot.

Yeah about the theory of women liking "metro", or "cultured guys" (aka little skinny bitch boys) because of how they can dominate them and ****...

I think humans and animals have a HELL of alot in common so here is a story.

My girlfriend has an American/English bulldog mix. When I first started dating my gf 8 months ago, the dog used to always come up and beg and try to hump my leg and just basically annoy the **** out of me...anytime I would hug my girl or kiss her or anything, the dog was humping and trying to do anything to get attention..

Well I actually found it humorous for a while, as the dog is actually a very cute one and very rambunctious, so i didn't really think anything of it..

THE DOG FUCKING LOVED ME TOO, I MEAN FOLLOWED ME EVERYWHERE! HELL LIKE SHE WAS MY DOG OR SOMETHING...

well, i start reading about how what the dog was doing was displaying dominant behavior...this little fucking dog thought I was it's little peon or some ****...

anyway, the dog gets mad at my girl one day because she wasn't giving it enough attention and goes and shits on the living room floor...I have moved in by now, and I am a fucking MAN and nothing shits in my fucking house!.

I beat the **** out of that dog..nothing sadistic but I smacked the **** out of it...and even punched her in her head (this dog is invincible I swear, impervious to pain)....

and then I read up on animal studies and how to control their dominant tendencies..so now I never let the dog jump into bed, she has to stay in her crate when we eat and I never let her walk in front of me through doors or anything even remotely dominant in a dog's eyes....

and the dog doesn't like me anymore...

why? because she is not in charge....

does that sound familiar? I thought so.

Sounds like 75% of women I have ever met.

Never let a female take your nuts..it is not worth it..I'd rather be single and jack off every night than have a girl that thinks she tells me how it is...

My girl now is awesome and very cooperative...totally unbelievable, but I would never let that **** slide otherwise

My cousins (they are all like 20 years older than me) kick their labradors as hard as they f-ing can when the dog shits where it isnt supposed to........and their dogs are very well behaved due to this(and supprisingly still love their owners.

a) I got neg rep because of an opinion

All I know is, my wife likes real men, not boys with 12 yr old girls bodies
My 15 yr old daughter likes skinny guys, but that's what guys her age are.
Our 18 yr old exchange student likes both, but likes the skinny guys to be manly, not like girls, she also likes the fact that I'm in shape and finds it nice that a 40+yr old guy can be attractive and manly. She's at the age where she still likes some boys, but is beginning to understand that she will want a MAN when she wants a relationship.

#1. if my boyfriend took a **** on the floor....i would think he had some "issues" and be worried....but a dog, i would tell him it was bad ...its not that difficult to discipline dogs in a humane manner

#2. I would not hit my boyfriend EVER. if he cheated on me then maybe.... i sure as hell HOPE my boyfriend would never hit me....let alone hit me for taking a **** on the floor

#3 a dog isnt different. you should treat them as you would yourself or other humans, with hopefully kindness.

I have only ever owned one dog and it was pre trained. I have no experience with discipline and animals. and i never said "beat the **** out of a puppy." But I say do whatever works (in moderation of course)
 
you guys should watch the "dog whisperer" on animal planet. the guy is amazing, dont know how he makes these dogs listen, some of them are freakin nuts and he gets them to be perfectly behaved.

sounds stupid, but its a good show.

i like dogs what can i say.
 
You don't need to beat animals to establish dominance. You don't need to even hit animals to establish dominance.

And, dogs (or all animals) are not the same as humans...they don't know that shitting on the carpet is any worse than shitting in the grass. So, beating them for it isn't right by any means.

On that note, you said that you would treat a dog like a human right Whiskey? what ever happened to "turn the other cheek" that you were preaching to me? Based on what you said in the grandmother getting tasered thread, I'd expect you to get a shovel if I **** all over your floor, not hit me :lol: j/k
