I do want to point out that the Shredded Tuna throws a lot of sh1t out there, but he is a good dude and I do like his style...I see a lot of what he does as kind of playful questioning, and not about being right or wrong, just because he never really argues, haha. And yeah, he is wrong. But you can tell him and he can take it.This is precisely my problem with this guy. He, and many others quick to believe any and all conspiracies, just says “oh this credible source must be sipping the kool-aid and trying to get me to sip it to, THEY LIE!!! But this dude over here who has been proven to be a quack and has multiple of their outlandish ideas disproven says ‘insert random bit of alt news contrary to what all experts are saying’ so he must be actually be the correct one in all of this”.
It just leaves me scratching my head. I am a huge fan of skepticism, but when you’re only skeptical of the government agencies where some of the best scientists in the world work but not remotely skeptical of someone who doesnt even study infectious disease and barely made it out of high school i just cant follow the logic.
That's fair. I just think he sometimes almost comes off as sort of acting like "all opposing viewpoints are equally valid and I'll present them as such," when, in reality, when one side is the overwhelming consensus of every state-funded/sponsored medical authority/organization in the developed world, as well as the overwhelming consensus in academia and research, and the other side is a bunch of dudes with blogs and YouTube videos, well, lets just say it's either disingenuous or ignorant to present both sides as even close to equally valid IMO.I do want to point out that the Shredded Tuna throws a lot of sh1t out there, but he is a good dude and I do like his style...I see a lot of what he does as kind of playful questioning, and not about being right or wrong, just because he never really argues, haha. Governments lie, yes. A single government, or group of governments with a shared goal lie together. But for every single government in the developed world, including ones that are enemies/rivals; well, it seems hard to believe that they’re all in it together to lie.[Howard Zinn:]
Governments lie all the time
Well, not just the American government, it's just in the nature of governments
Well, they have to lie. And since they don't represent the people,
and so since they act against the interest of the people
The only way they can hold power is if they lie to the people
Truth

My point is tuna said “I talked to a doctor and he said it’s just like the flu, no worse. I don’t know what to believe.” That doctor is a damn quack who should have his or her license revoked.Yeah, I get that. But consensus doesn't make something truth either. Observation and experiment is the best way to identify truth, and even that isn't infallible. I mean, I mentioned Ignaz Sammelweis somewhere around here a couple days ago. The concensus was that doctors knew what they were doing and didn't need to wash their hands. They ridiculed him for the idea that hand washing could save lives. Thank God he didn't give into the consensus...
But, yeah, just because someone says the opposite if the "authority" doesn't make it true either. Haha.
Not to be political, but that is how I feel about anti-trumpers sometimes too. Trump is an azzhole. Check. Fine. Agreed.
He is an azzhole so everything he says or does is wrong and I am for the opposite.
Chloroquine could be great! Oh, now trump is for it and wants to move it forward quickly - so let's start with the articles about how the guy in AZ used his fish tank chloroquine and died..Trump's fault. And Nigerians are dying from it and Trump is pushing it, what a moron.
But if he didn't push it, they would say, "His response to this is abysmal. Why isn't he getting these drugs in the hands of people!?"
But that happens to some degree to every president I guess.
I think you feel hated on because you do post a lot of things that are pretty weak. No offense. But you posted the lysol kills coronavirus thing, and in your defense you didn't say, "See...this is real" you just threw it up there...but this is a conspiracy theory that is easily understood as false and probably is so weak that we have trigger reactions to it at this point. Thanks @HIT4ME i take both sides and look at either with an open mind. And @muscleupcrohn , of course the sources aren’t going to be credible.... any conspiracy won’t have an 100% credible source. You have to see a theory and research deeper. We all trust our elites and the people and power but governments and people in power lie all the time...
idk why I’m being personally attacked heavily here , though. Others have presented a belief in an agenda and they don’t get chastised as much as I do . I’m not trying to be a troll or hate, but in this stressful time , we are all thinking every possibility.
my gut tells me there is something sinister

It’s fair to say we don’t know how bad it’ll get, or what the best course of action is regarding treatment or public policy to combat it. That is fair. But it’s beyond asinine to claim this is no more dangerous/deadly than your normal/yearly flu.
haha true, I just couldn’t find anything else on it. Debates are great honestly , I’d like to do podcastI think you feel hated on because you do post a lot of things that are pretty weak. No offense. And you throw a lot of stuff out there...which creates discussion...but a lot of it is just weak theories. But, it is good to question and we gotta best up someone or this site would be pretty boring.
I mean, TheBigT and I would make this site incredibly boring if we were the only two here:
Me: long, rambling diatribe on whatever subject.
TheBigT: I agree
Me: Thanks.
How boring is that?

And I'm saying to even give such an asinine viewpoint more traction is, well, asinine. It's one thing to say you don't know what to believe, it's another to give everything and anything credibility because of this uncertainty.nit saying I believed him , I said I don’t really know because I don’t

We don't know for sure the origin of the universe, etc., but that doesn't mean we give every theory equal weight, or even take every one seriously. If someone said the universe was created 2,000 years ago by a sentient cheese wheel the size of the sun, I'm not going to present it on equal footing with the Big Bang and say "well, I don't really know what to believe."
Boy are you gonna be shocked when you pass and get greeted by Gouda. And I'm saying to even give such an asinine viewpoint more traction is, well, asinine. It's one thing to say you don't know what to believe, it's another to give everything and anything credibility because of this uncertainty.

Is Gouda just a portmanteau of God and Buddha? I think you've cracked the code!Boy are you gonna be shocked when you pass and get greeted by Gouda.
Gouda. God. Coincidence? Hmmm...kinda makes you wonder if there is a quote on the internet fueling a conspiracy theory.
Holy crap! I didn't even think if Buddha. Mind blown! Is Gouda just a portmanteau of God and Buddha? I think you've cracked the code!
Considering this is on the CDC's website, says it was updated today, and lists deaths, I say no.Is the CDC taking people who've tested positive for Covid-19 off the death list and saying they died of something else?
Anyone have a link? My wife just shot me a text and I'm like What?!?. Literally, that was my response. Can they do that?
Why would they want to lower the Covid-19 Death Rate?
I hadn't heard of this. I could see them doing it to keep fears down or to save face politically, etc.Is the CDC taking people who've tested positive for Covid-19 off the death list and saying they died of something else?

If that is true, then how do you ever get a creator??Jesus, Yeshua/ God manifest in the flesh who died and rose again. amen.
can’t create everything out of nothing without a creator
Gouda is my favorite cheese. Just sayingIs Gouda just a portmanteau of God and Buddha? I think you've cracked the code!
Gouda is amazing. I cannot debate that.Gouda is my favorite cheese. Just saying
God is everlasting . Omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscientIf that is true, then how do you ever get a creator??
I'm not going to lie, I can't lie even though it was cheekyGouda is amazing. I cannot debate that.
Does everyone who gets the flu go to the Docs to get it tested? Mortality rates are on those tested for the infection, and of those tested, the rates are substantial in areas like Italy and Spain. This is just wrong. How many italians were infected and showed little to no symptoms or didnt get a test? I would bet a TON!
Oxford did a study in the UK with modeling and they are saying half of UK has already been infected. HALF! Now run the death rate on those numbers.
No offence, but your circle of conspiracy friends literally thought Purell was in on it because they specify coronavirus on the label lol. I dont exactly trust your judgement on who should be trusted or not.I would never trust the CDC...
Didn't I already mention how I never get the flu vaccine ? lol Bill Gates and ebola
You people can keep hating, but I know there is an agenda behind this
I'm not sure you can state this with any degree of confidence. How do you know "so many people have it or had it and didn't know?"There's no 3 to 5% being killed by this virus. so many people have it or have had it already and don't even know because they never got tested (symptoms confused with flu or sinus infection). This virus has been circulating in the u.s. for a couple months now at least. Any high percentages are coming from a place where they're taking death rates of those who have tested positive for the virus. A true percentage of people who will die is going to be nowhere near 3% to 5. Everybody panicking hyping this s*** up is what's making everybody batshit crazy
Downgrading because of lockdown procedures and slightly higher infection rates. It'll still be some time before it's true gravity is known. It's happening already:
This is an important point here. We are SPECULATING that there are many people out there that are asymptomatic. Of course we don't have much data for this. Some data suggests it, but we are not going out and testing a bunch of people without symptoms - not should we right now, since tests are limited and needed for screening sick people and not for education at the moment.I'm not sure you can state this with any degree of confidence. How do you know "so many people have it or had it and didn't know?"
Its mortality rate is decently high, especially in vulnerable populations. Why do you think entire countries are shutting down? The UK, Italy, Spain, NZ, Australia etc? We dont shut down domestic or international travel, keep people indoors, enforce strict quarantine processes for things like the flu or the common cold.
The reason the above is happening is so that medical resources do not become overwhelmed and end up in a situation like Italy where elderly people are being left to die in cases where they simply have no resources to treat them. Again, you dont impose such strict measures unless there is a sense that the situation could get out of control.
The revision was issued immediately. Lockdown would take at least 2 weeks to have any effect, if at all.Downgrading because of lockdown procedures and slightly higher infection rates. It'll still be some time before it's true gravity is known.
He has stated that his revision is being misinterpreted, heres what he said:The revision was issued immediately. Lockdown would take at least 2 weeks to have any effect, if at all.
Open source info, and logic. Everyone is hyping its robust R0; ok cool, remember that for a sec, and bear with me.I'm not sure you can state this with any degree of confidence. How do you know "so many people have it or had it and didn't know?"
I'm not from the US, and nothing is being downplayed here. I'm in quarantine and i cant leave my house unless it's for visiting an essential service. I cant travel domestically at the moment, which means I have no idea when I'll see my family again face to face. Schools are closed. Businesses are shut. The government is pouring money into wage subsidies, but who really knows how long this will go? People are losing jobs. Banks are freezing mortgage payments. You cant be evicted by landlords unless mutual agreement.Open source info, and logic. Everyone is hyping its robust R0; ok cool, remember that for a sec, and bear with me.
There's a strong possibility this thing was out there since Nov 16th, that we know of:
https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-03-coronavirus-epidemic.html
Some Chinese media also supports this, with a coverup of a patient on Nov 16th. China also covered up the spread as long as they could, with the first 'official' patient being registered by (asshole) China on Dec 10, and lockdown only occurring by Jan 23, in between which multiple patients were seen in SK, Thailand, Egypt, the US; 10's of thousands flying back and forth between China and other countries; intense travel due to Chinese New Year; and China holding 'the worlds largest potluck' with 10's of thousands in attendance.
https://www.axios.com/timeline-the-early-days-of-chinas-coronavirus-outbreak-and-cover-up-ee65211a-afb6-4641-97b8-353718a5faab.html
Then there's this (and there are likely other, if not many other, similar events):
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/the-tale-of-a-nile-cruise-that-spawned-an-international-coronavirus-outbreak/2020/03/13/6ab633fc-6314-11ea-8a8e-5c5336b32760_story.html
Just because you can't quantify an unknown does not mean you can ignore what is a surety, but any logic. Thinking that all of the above happened, but it did not spread in any meaningful manner over 6-8 weeks before countries got on the lockdown program, is naive, or worse. The recent Oxford study supports this:
https://reason.com/2020/03/25/half-of-united-kingdom-already-infected-with-coronavirus-says-oxford-model/
So all the whinging and hand wringing over doom-and-gloom modeling which ignores the elephant in the room (that it's extremely widespread already) is for naught, downright dangerous, and bottom line? It's being used as a political tool in the US. Period.
Lol, calm down. Since you're acting like everyone is a stereotypical dumb American (which is its own brand of dumb), I'm Israeli, a majority of my family lives in Israel, they are on lock down AND having missiles fired at them (good times). We are on lock down here in Los Angeles as well, and have been for 2 weeks, with at least another month to go now. I lived overseas for years. We are all in more or less the same position, so no need to act like you're worse off.I'm not from the US, and nothing is being downplayed here. It might be used as a Political tool where you are, but it's not all about the US.
www.stuff.co.nz - try visiting here to see how its impacting my small corner of the world.
It's not all doom and gloom, however heed Italy's message: be prepared or end up like us.
I think you missed the point i was trying to make: if it is not really "that bad", then why is the world reacting the way it is?Lol, calm down. I specified that it's being used as a political tool in the US, precisely so you wouldn't need to comment that it's not where you are, yet you did anyway. Lol
There's a lot of 'well if THEY'RE doing it, it must be bad, so maybe we should too', as well as the aforementioned unknown levels of exposure globally.I think you missed the point i was trying to make: if it is not really "that bad", then why is the world reacting the way it is?
Noones trying to say anyone else is worse off, it might just pay to look at other news media if you felt yours was too political.
Time will tell. There's a lot of 'well if THEY'RE doing it, it must be bad, so maybe we should too', as well as the aforementioned unknown levels of exposure globally.
Pretty sure I had it a few weeks ago just wasn't tested for it. Not only me but about a third of the people at my work we're all sick with it I believe. Over 80% of the people only experience mild symptoms. People that are dying have underlying conditions primarily. Yes I'm fairly certain that 3 to 5% is just not going to happen. I believe it's been in our country for a while and moving around. One of the senator stated that between January and March they know for certain people in our country died with covid 19 and they thought it was the flu or pneumonia.I'm not sure you can state this with any degree of confidence. How do you know "so many people have it or had it and didn't know?"
