What's a "refeed" ?

It's something you do on a ketogenic diet. You eat high amounts of carbohydrates for a day or two to replenish glycogen stores depleted from the keto diet.

And raise leptin levels.

When do you or are you supposed to refeed? I know that the diet is usually M - F and the weekend (36 hours) is for carb-ups, but I've heard people mentioning a refeed in the middle of the week or so. Is this necessary or how do you know when this is necessary? Do you become more sluggish, etc?

The mid-week refeed is generally for people who are already in the low body fat ranges where fat loss and muscle sparing becomes increasingly difficult.
