I worked with a really good trainer out here that primarily does contest prep. He has a half dozen athletes at every local NPC show that happens out in AZ. He had a really strong opinion about genetics that I’ve always agreed with: Yes, genetic body composition, bone structure, muscle bellies are important for making a successful bodybuilder, but hyperresponse to AAS must be present in every case to make an athlete that can win a show. Or have any real future competing. There’s examples everywhere. Levrone is a prime example. A guy in his 50s putting on that much muscle and strength; competing in such a short period of time. The average joe can’t make gains like that on ANY amount of gear. And if he was too scared to take a diuretic before his last show, I’ll bet he wasn’t running anything crazy from 2016 to now. Dallas too. I don’t care how much he was taking, to put 150-200lbs on your frame before entering your late 20s is something I’ll bet 99% of us couldn’t do. No matter how good our genetics are.
My first testosterone only run was similar to yours, about 550mg/week for 12weeks. But I stopped making significant gains after 9-10lbs. There’s definitely drugs I respond much better to. SD and Trest at modest doses can put 20lbs on me, but I’d bet you give those drugs at those doses to someone who responds more significantly to AAS, and they will make my gains look pitiful I’m betting..
That’s not to take away from anyone around here’s hard work or dedication AT ALL. I don’t make excuses if I don’t gain as much on gear. And I don’t discredit others that gain more than I.
