Weird Creatine Mono. Question

Ok, I take a small dose of creatine (~2g) every day. However, some days I choose to have a higher dose (~8g or so) and I tend to have a slight euphoric feeling afterwards. Has anyone ever noticed anything like this or have any explanation?

The euphoria is ever so slight, but enough to make me think when the last time was that I dosed phenibut. It feels almost like I'd taken a very small dose of phenibut about 10-15 minutes after consuming a good amount of creatine mono. It is possible, however, that this could be linked to Beta-Alanine, because USUALLY I take BA with my creatine, but I do believe I feel the mini-euphoria when I don't take the BA.

That would be awesome if this side effect were backed up with something.

i take bw 7-10g's usually and never felt anything different, but that may be bc i am a tad heavier than you

lol @ "a tad".

It could be the taurine, because usually I have creatine mono., beta-alanine, and taurine mixed in a cup of grape juice.

But much of the time I don't have the taurine or beta-alanine, and still feel slight euphoria.

Creatine is found in high concentrations in the brain, and is being explored in the treatment of a variety of neurodegenerative diseases. Creatine supplementation increases total creatine levels primarily in grey matter, white matter, the cerebellum, and the thalamus. Similar to its action in skeletal muscle, creatine operates through a variety of pathways in the brain, such as reducing oxidative stress and correcting mitochondrial dysfunction. A recent study on mice and rats showed creatine to provide a 36%-50% reduction in cortical damage caused by traumatic brain injury by improving mitochondrial function, decreasing reactive oxygen species, and maintaining ATP levels. This is a new area of research, so few human studies have been done on its neuroprotectant effects at this point. One study found that supplementation of creatine at 5 grams a day for 8 days decreased task-evoked mental fatigue and increased oxygen utilization in the brain.

Never heard of this. Maybe that's why I get minor headaches when on a loading phase of creatine mono., kind of like when I start taking piracetam.

I used to get headaches when loading creatine ( a long time ago), usually increased daily water intake will take care of them.
