Weight Gainers or Regular Protein??

Just looking for a general cosensus.........How long do most guys use weight gainers? Can I continue to use them consistently or is there a time to switch to regular protein without so many carbs and calories?? The downer I find is that although I want the weight gain w/ the gainers its alot easier to cover up my abs with flab while doing so...........So should weight gainers be cycled or only be used on a bulking cycle???
 
I would only suggest a weight gainer for a hard core Ecto. They are normally loaded with sugars and crap. Your much better off supplementing with a quality protein, oats, complex carbs, etc. If you can, eat whole foods several times/day but I know that is somewhat difficult for many people. Before venturing into a "gainer", check the profile of the ingredients.

Like the old man said they have lots of sugar (dextrose, maltodextrine) which is not good for you. You could get a quality whey protein and dump some ground up oats and maybe some PB for a nice homebrew weight gainer. Check in the recipe section of the board.
