Waist Circumference and weight?

Is there a reputable way to measure fat loss in terms of waistline, and refer it back to your weight to see if you are losing muscle? Like if I lost an inch of my weight is that a percent of body fat I could refer it too. I always feel like I lose too much muscle when I cut, as my lifts get weaker (Bench from 245x6 to 225x4 in a 7 week period when I lost 12 pounds) And my diet is in check, maybe I don't eat enough? I'm 5'8.5' and weigh 170 now.

Invalid Link Removed you can find a body fat estimator that uses height and waist circumference measures. It's quite accurate for novices, but anybody who has a significant amount of muscle will likely discredit it.

Jesus ... using the method of straight height vs. weight, it puts me at 52% bodyfat. Incorporating my waist measurement (42 inches) it puts me at 18%. My scale puts me at 25.8%.
