Virus/Trojan etc messed me up need help

i cant change this file. but i did

msconfig thing and set main drive to boot so at least i can reboot and walk away now.

but i cannot alter the boot.ini file. wont let me save.

it wasnt read only. so i tried clicking it as read only and neither method worked to change the file.

ive delted most of the folders i know as doubles. but im sure there are much more files i am missing o well.
 
UPDATE> i got screwed. like gixxer rearend style.


i reformated after an entire system data files everything attack.

all my exes i think almost everyone got fudged.

they are still messed up and i might possibly have to delete all my data files that are programs.

my pictures music and goat pron might be ok? still testing.

ive learned alot from this site. i am in talks with the author a great guy and hes been trying to help me.

I must admit that everytime I read your posts it p!sses me off because it seems like you don't hear me. But to be honest I don't know how bad it is and do know how things can get bad real quick. I wish I could have helped you more. Read my post for your future setup and your troubles will fade away into the distance..

we tried bro. ive bene an xp god according to everyone i know for 7years. it took 7years for the hackers to get me haha. o well.

im confused by everytime i read your posts it seems you dont hear me? i followed most of the advice you gave. and my custom xp cds i cant figureout how to repair a system. not untill i remembered i had a vanilla copy of xp gold pro with no service packs so i found that and installed that. then installed sp2 then sp3 prebeta because for some reason i couldnt install a lot of stuff till i had sp2 installed. not sure if this is cuz of my ISSUES or something else gahh:P.


live and learn.

always backup anything important to you whether it be mental or phyiscal. aka burn to cd. get extra hdd etc.

that link i posted shows some great info on how to keep your system pretty strong security wise but im sure it bound to drive you crazy as well.

i am now a limited user. i also can only save files to select locations not modify or anything so im learning this new setup its interesting.
 
afraind told me about a program named regrun its a 30 trial program that detects some viruses and spyware and some damage to the registry. i used it on a computer and it help removed some crap on that computer maybe you want to give it a try.
 
D/L and watch all porn on through a virtual machine w/out a shared folder. You won't have this problem again :D

As for a fix, no clue. I never bother to fix anything that goes wrong b/c everything I have that is important is backed up on my fileserver, and if an OS was really trashed I just took the HDD out of one comp, stuck it in another (removable HDD bays are nice) and recovered what I needed and reformatted. :lol:

It's kewl bro, I didn't know you had tried all the stuff I suggested. I am sure when you partition your disk three ways and put xp on one of them things will go better.

You're right about the missing repair option with SP2 I think only Windows XP or Windows XP With SP1 has the repair option.

Either way I"m glad you're sorting it out!

i currently have my main harddrive 3 partitions

first being C
second being games
third being downloaded material

i always thought this system works best but im not sure anymore

1. first partition is fastest with second being alittle slower then first and so fourth.
2. so that means you want games not to be on a partition but rather another harddrive to get full benefit and id also recommend a special password or something to access those files cuz even all my game files got correupted.

blah blah blah im screwed haha ive taken major steps to prevent any spreading of whatever i might still have. it might be gone still not sure but i know according to my AV most of my exes are still infected
 
Wonder if you tried booting from the cd, and agreeing to the EULA and then choosing the repair option. Not the first one which will take you to the recovery console. After that, after you agree to EULA and chose to setup windows xp. It will say setup detected a current installation....
 
That option will totally screw up any current registry entries he has (and then some). Maybe if he backs up his registry first (if he can) it'll work.

It may, but it may not. Besides his registry is already pretty screwed. It can't screw things up worse than they aready are. It would be pointless to back up the registry at this point, just too many problems. I think its worth a try anyway....Really it can't make things much worse....
 
But, I think he didn't wanna reformat for a reason. And, once the registry gets whipped he might as well have reformatted.
 
i did reformat. and i still had all my data files messed up

i think C drive is fine and clean

i limited myself to a limited user and setup so i cannot alter files or something i liked above. im really limited now.

it helps stop viruses and i closed my firewall ports

still working on getting all things supposidly cleaned up. then ill back everything up to my 500gb drive i think.

then reformat all drives perhaps. and start over.

i might just have to make a list of programs i need and totally redownload them all while backing up my personal files
pics movies music wasnt affected

Programs? Who needs more than: Office, uTorrent, FireFox, DVDFab, Nero, DVD Shrink, Photoshop, PowerISO, Alcohol 120%, and a codec pack?

I don't both using up resources with anti-v/maleware stuff. Keep porn to an OS that doesn't have every geek in the world writing malicious code for it or keep a virtual machine w/ an expandable drive.

1. i dont think i ever got a virus from porn
2. you sound like ur really fancy what OS are you referring to. mac or linus?
3. im using a limited account now and i have an admin setup so i pratically cannto install anything on my limited account which si the one im trying to get used too. so i gotta user switch log on admin install program and then go back to limited. i dont know how some peeps do this but this is what is recommened from one of the top security guys on anotehr site. so im trying it out

1. Yeah, neither have I. But, that's how most ppl get 'em.
2. Mostly OS X lately. I was using Ubuntu Linux for a while, but as soon as you run into a problem with any linux distribution, its usually a BIG problem. Such a pain in the ass.
3. Limited accounts suck ass. I know there are ways to "install as admin" without logging off, but I don't know how to do it. And, as soon as you need to install an update for a game/program that uses user-specific settings, you'll know what kind of a pain in the ass running a limited account is. :rasp:

Bleach 141 is an anime...good one, too! Today was a filler ep, sucked ass.
