Vioxx off market?

I just heard because it causes heart attacks. I thought this was from prolonged use with high doses. Anyone have any info on this?

Merck said Thursday the clinical trial data showed an increased risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular complications 18 months after patients started taking Vioxx, which also is prescribed for acute pain and disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Merck shares took a beating today from opening bell onward. Down roughly 26% to adjust for the removal of vioxx.
 
Yeah,right after i posted it i found it on another board. I know the head accountant for one of their firms,and i was just wondering how he felt about it. That stuff is good for inflamation. I had severe pain and stiffness in my knee(you might remember me talking about it)and 2 vioxx's later,it was gone(the next day). My sister has tons of it from her doctor. Her doctor said he can't give it to her anymore but will give her something else. She is pissed because she knows the new stuff probably won't work
