Very high triglycerides

Hello everyone!
I’m very worried about my lipid profile and looking for advice. I am 28 and never thought my levels would be this bad.

At time of test: Day after wedding with alcohol and junk food. 184 lbs. Have been taking at least 1.8g omega 3s daily for years.

CHOLESTEROL
207
TRIGLYCERIDES
718
HDL CHOLESTEROL
30
LDL, DIRECT
73
CHOL/HDL RATIO
6.9

I know most of this has to do with my diet. So I cut out carbs significantly enough to lose 12 lbs since this test and still cutting them out. My father does take a statin for cholesterol.

I’ve already added these to my daily pills;
Omega 3s 5.4g
Berberine 500mg
Garlic 500mg
Tocotrienols 125mg
Fiber pills off and on still trying to figure out the dose for me.

Has anyone had a lipid profile this bad? And what did you do to fix it? Any other supplements or foods to add to the mix?

I’m trying to do as much as I can before my next test so I don’t get prescribed anything.
I have another test in a couple months and I will update my numbers when I have those results.

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with that.

Mine were very high, but nowhere near that high though.

I did use a regimen to bring them down quite a bit and I had posted my numbers earlier this year. I don't remember them exactly, but in my case I was able to bring them down over 120 points in 4 months so I was really pleased. For numeric context, that was almost a 50% decrease so its quite substantial.

I can post what I was using - there were more total supplements, but these are the ones that were most specifically for cholesterol:
  • SNS Cardiovascular Support XT
    • contains Odorless Garlic, Arjuna Terminalia, Vitamin K2, Grape Seed, Olive Leaf, Pomella Pomegranate Extract, CoQ10, and S7.
  • SNS GlucoVantage XT
    • GlucoVantage is dihydroberberine, and advanced form of berberine with 5x the potency, so it allows you to take the equivalent of 500 mg. of berberine in a 100 mg. dose. This is very significant because it allows you to take 1,500 mg. worth in a 300 mg. dose without causing any stomach upset; whereas most people can't stomach 1500 mg. regular Berberine.
  • NOW Foods Cholesterol Pro (Citrus Bergamot)
  • NOW Foods Spirulina Capsules
  • NOW Foods Bilberry Extract
  • Now Foods Pantethine - 600 mg.
  • CEL TUDCA
    • 4 caps per day (above the normal TUDCA dosage - but this dosage protocol is geared specifically towards a complex issue in which the liver may be overproducing cholesterol).
    • There is a lot of quality issues with TUDCA products not being what they claim to be on the market - so be very careful with brand selection on this. Every batch of CEL TUDCA is tested for both purity and potency.
Fish oil is great but my stomach cannot tolerate it so in my case I use Algal oil instead.

Me doing this regimen was kind of a test run for a product we plan to do which will be named Cholesterol Support XT, and will have some of these ingredients all in one product, but its not available yet. But that's the breakdown of what I used myself.

I hope that info helps.

Add about 30gm of fiber and daily cardio.

If you had your blood drawn the day after drinking, then your trigs will be high. How much alcohol did you drink?

Enough to feel good lol I don’t remember actually. I added that because I know that contributed but they were 600s before drinking but I posted the most recent results. I barely drink so it’s mostly diet in my opinion. Maybe a little genetic. Hoping cutting carbs will do the trick with some other supplements.

Here’s my older results which just shows my diet at the time with no alcohol.

Thank you I’ll look into these.

I've had the opposite issue which is elevated LDL. My triglycerides and HDL have always been perfect and your triglycerides are very high and HDL is pretty low. Do you eat foods with a lot of soluble fiber? Avocados, apples, carrots, etc.? If not, I would start incorporating them into your diet. It could very well be genetic but it's worth getting your diet in order to see what you can do first.

Just an update from my test today. Huge improvement!
