Hi,

Im on Venlafaxin 105 mcg for my ADHD.

Im not on any roids but im constantly since i take it getting bigger and bigger on the muscular side…

Even when i only eat 1600-2000 Kcal for cutting.

Iam 5 “11 and weigh 94 KG. But 3 weeks ago i weighed 91 KG… and i know it is not fat …according to the mirror.

My question is now does Venlafaxin affect my Testosterone and Estrogen?

Is anyone here who has some knowledge about this?

Bro it is insane…i even need to take an AI and some Estrogen Blocker…

And i read on Google now that it is different for everyone… my Testo as far as i know increases and yours decreases.

I got so bloated and kept so much water …crazy … since iam taking something to control Estrogen it is way better

Google says this :

While some studies suggest that venlafaxine can influence testosterone levels, the effect is not consistently observed and the direction of the influence (increase or decrease) can vary. Some research indicates that venlafaxine can lead to low testosterone levels, while other studies suggest it may increase aromatization (conversion of testosterone to estrogen).

Estrogen is anabolic and contributes to putting on size. It's not usually the most detailed look but if you think of some of the older power lifters that were in between that fat and jacked kinda stage. That's that high estrogen on cycle kinda look. The dbol look.

Some bro science here but .... Now I wouldn't expect it to be the same as steroids but I think this could be similar to how ppl on 4 Andro will get that bulky look and testosterone will be low but estrogen will be high. Lots of times the things people use on cycle as a "test base" are actually a estrogen base

So should i use an AI like Arimidex while on Venlafaxin? Because i don’t like the Estrogen part.

You should use a AI if your blood work shows high estrogen or you start getting concrete symptoms of high estrogen like gynecomastia or erectile dysfunction or acne ect. That has nothing to do with whatever medication you're taking that's just how you go about approaching estrogen. You don't just blindly take a ai because low estrogen has worse side effects than high estrogen in many cases.

A good alternative if your trying to play it safe is DIM and maybe a otc ai. I wouldn't just start taking a pharmaceutical AI without a necessity.

At the end of the day right now, we're all just taking guesses based off of symptoms. So don't dive in and bomb your E2

That is surprisingly the other way around..im more hornier than ever and my c… gets rock hard.
I have no symptoms of Gyno and Acne.

The only thing i have is that i store really quick water, specifically on my lower stomach area.

I'm a psychiatrist. Effexor (venlafaxine) will not increase testosterone, if anything, it will mildly suppress it. I rarely prescribe it or other SNRIs/SSRIs. If ADHD is your concern and it is legal where you live, it's best to just go the stimulant route (Adderall/Ritalin/etc.). The next best thing would be non-amphetamine stimulants, such as Nuvigil (armodafinil) or Provigil (modafinil). After that, Wellbutrin (bupropion) can sometimes be useful, but mainly as the instant release (IR) formulation (it usually comes in 24-hour XL, but also comes in 12-hour SR tablets).

Not sure what happened, my question is below even tho it looks like you posted the question for some reason

Any non habit forming suggestions for a hyperactive 40 year old man with ADD and anxiety lol. I'm either cranking away 100mph or in sitting on my couch with the curtains drawn avoiding the world. It's always one extreme or the other lol

I’m definitely not a Psychiatrist, but I have heard of some with ADHD using Modafinil with success. Our oldest son has ADHD and that’s what he takes, and he says it helps with his focus and attention.
I noticed that on that guy’s list as well. Not sure if you have tried it, but I know Mike has it.

Ok after many days of testing my whole situation is actually quite ridiculous 🫣.

Everything is fine with me … my Östrogen is at 31 what is almost below minimum… my salt is at 144 what is absolutely in range…

The end result is that i just took to much Salt ?! 🫣 almost 8 gr a day…

And to Smonts question with his ADD …i can tell you. Venlafaxin works awesome with me …i even have a side effect that works well for me…i have no appetite 👍🏻… means i have no issues keeping my calorie goals to cut

I think it works for a little different of a reason; it is remarkably good at promoting generalized wakefulness. Think of being as close to 100% awake as possible, that's more-or-less the goal with medications like that. So if you're someone who finds even mild fatigue to be distracting, then it could be of great use to you. I also find that those medications tend to agree with less people overall than the more typical stimulants.

I know this is a bit of an old thread but I just stumbled across it.

Man modafinil gives me terrible insomnia, like it’s insane. I never got insomnia from adderal extended release, methylphenidate extended release or any other drug for adhd.

I wish I could tolerate it better, no wonder that’s what some militaries use to keep their soldiers awake for long periods of time, the half life is like 20 hours long. Meaning if you go to bed after 16 hours of being awake the drug is still largely in your system. I wish there were prescription drugs like modafinil that have a shorter half life, I’m not a big fan of the traditional amphetamine or methylphenidate ones.

I know there’s some modafinil derivatives you can buy online but I don’t trust most sellers and I’m not going to self medicate and experiment with dosages without the help of a doctor.
