Velocity Diet Shake Question...

Hey everyone. I am hoping to start the V-Diet in a few days...and was wondering if this recipe was good for a shake...

1.5 scoop ON Casein (180 cal, 35p)
1 serving flax (100 cal, 7f, 3p, 6c all fiber)
Then throw in 1 CLA and 1 fish oil to hit 300 calories per shake for my non-workout days.

Non workout days are 1500, workout days will be roughly 1800. I would throw in a bit a more protein and some gatorade into the PWO shake.

The main reason I have a question is...the guy on t-nation mentioned taking 21 salmon capsules on his non workout days...but also get 1 g Protein per lb body weight...this would be impossible for me to do at 5 shakes a day and to stay in my calorie limit. Did I misread something?

Anyway, if that standard shake recipe looks good, and if that's what I eat 5 times a day, am I following the nutritional side of this diet properly?

(I have read up on it a lot...but I was just confused at those 21 salmon capsules...prob 10 cals each...who knows)

How much do you weigh?
The Salmon caps (or just plain fish oil caps will work) will give you 1 gram of fat each which would equate to 189kcals. Depending on your protein intake this amount of kcals can easily be worked into the v-diet.

Right now I am at about 195-200 lbs. I plugged the weight into the formula and it ended up being about 1450 for my low calorie days. I was hoping to get around 200g protein a day...combined by the protein and the 3 grams of protein in each serving of my flax.

Well even on your low days then at 200g's of protein you would have 650kcals left over which would equate to about 72g's of fat if you did not have any carbs. Now for every two grams of carbs you have that will take away 1g of fat. IIRC your only carbs on low days come from flax seed which is still pretty minimal. So if you take away the 21g's of fat from fish oil you are still left with 51g's of fat to make your calories for the day. Plus when they recommend that high of fish oil they are really just trying to push biotests Flame Out fish oil. Fish oil is a great supplement but if you only take in 18g's instead of 21 its not going to impact the diet significantly.

Hey man, thanks for the info there. I appreciate it. I was able to figure into it a bit better. I picked up a different protein. I will be starting this log up tonight. Thanks man!
