Vegetarian friend needs help!

My friend is a vegetarian and needs advice on what to eat. He's currently trying to take in 180g of protein but has been relying completely on shakes to do it.

I've already recommended eggs, cottage cheese, and skim milk. What else does he have as options?

Textured vegetable protein (TVP). It can be purchased in chicken nugget style chunks and takes on the flavour of whatever you cook it with. I used it for stirfrys for a while.

Tell him to learn the varioius protein types of beans, grains and nuts. It is very important to get complete protien (karategirl's mention of Quinoa is a good one), which is one of the benefits of carnivorosity. Mixed beans and wild rice is a tasty one, and they have complementary proteins. Try some of the wild rices harvested by indians in minesota.

quorn. It's a mushroom protein which they make into all sort of products. Here's the website of the manufacturer:

The healthfood refrigerated/frozen food section of many grocery stores carries it.

Hopefully this person is not like me because I cant digest any amount of TVP. TVP was originaly mean as feed on Hog farms but they found that it gave the pigs digestive problems. I just gave away a huge amount of the stuff to a vegan friend of mine. Another reason why I gave up being vegetarian myself. I just couldnt get enough protein in to grow anymore. People noticed/commented on a big size increase only months after i started eating meat again. They probably tought It was roids ;). It did find it possible to grow on a vegetarian diet but only up to a certain point then I plateaued.

If God didn't want us eating animals .... then why did he make them out of meat?

In all seriousness, I agree to learning about getting complete proteins through complimentary foods.

never understood the whole vegetarian thing. how can you not eat meat? its so unnatural

id recomend beef

Thanks guys, I'm gonna print up a list, and give it to him to check out. He told me he's been getting 120g of protein from whey!

Ahh..Then he's a vegetarian, I believe, which gives you many more options. If I understand it correctly Vegan's will eat no animal products, no dairy, stuff like that.
