The ultimate limit of human endurance has been worked out by scientists analysing a 3,000 mile run, the Tour de France and other elite events.

They showed the cap was 2.5 times the body's resting metabolic rate, or 4,000 calories a day for an average person.

Anything higher than that was not sustainable in the long term.

Interesting. So theoretically the average person can push themselves to burn at least 4,000 calories per day meaning one can lose a pound of fat in one day. No wonder endurance athletes are so damn lean!

Endurance athletes are not as lean as sprinters. They have very little muscle tissue. Lighter you are the farther you can run.

That’s not nessesarily true, but you are right about the muscle and the sprinters just look way more badass lol. I’ve seen some lean endurance athletes. Think about it they are almost exclusively using the aerobic system > fat oxidation.
