UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva

The majority of fighters in the ufc for the most part all stroke their own ego. It's called marketing yourself and unfortunately people will never understand the business aspects of being a fighter. It's far beyond the scope of what fans see on television.

No... Really..? Here I was thinking they keep them in a box between PPV's. :pokey:

Dumbest statement ever. To follow your line of thinking you shouldn't be allowed to dislike any fighter because if you do, then you don't 'get it'.

All fighters have to have an ego sure, but how different fighters handle that varies. Look at Lesnar post Lesnar Mir II as one example of how ego can run away with itself, or whenever Tito Ortiz opens his big mouth. Conversely take a look at Randy Couture or Dan Henderson - both can say they think they're going to win a fight without talking the same calibre of **** as someone like Ortiz - and they can lose a fight and be humble rather than Ortiz's typical, "I would've won only I had a run in with 70 Hells Angels and was shot in the chest three times before the fight" bull****. Besides I think you give way too many fighters way too much credit to say they all think marketability before they open their mouth - that's a bunch of crap too.

I'm allowed to have favorite fighters, I'm allowed to have fighters who I can't stand, so are you and everyone else. & I 'get it' just fine thanks.

Sorry if I offended you brother. Hope all is well. I agree with the concept of making every fighter a respectable one like Dan and Randy but the ideal seems fragmented in my opinion. It's not going to change anytime soon.

I was surprised for Dustin though, i thought he'd jump at a take down. Daley is calling out Alves. Dunno about that.
Stout was lookin good. Hope he keeps up the improvement.

Stout looked real good.Lauzon had no answer.Stout after that first round got his confidence and J.L. couldnt put him on the mat.Stout looked in great shape too Luazon is one tough smart fighter but Stout had a better game plan.

I still have to wonder if there was just a tad ring rust for JL. Stout was on it and I won't take anything away from that, but Luazon seemed gassed. Maybe a year plus him recovering has been a little ruff.
Lookin forward to Stout vs another stand up guy (not including Spencer again)

I dont like rashad evans at all but hes good for the UFC. you need fighters like him. you need to hate people. he markets himself and such. he might not be happy with his win but hes a lot more happy winning. he did he game plan perfect for 2.5 rounds then got caught up a little. thats a success. Everyone wants a tko or ko highlight real but a loss would hurt him bad. look at koscheck he was tired of winning decisions so he started gonig for the big punches and it worked then he got caught. Rashad did what i knew he would do and him and his caoches should be happy.

I didn't mind Rashad (I actually won quite a bit of money on his fight with Griffin) right up until the whole Rampage call out, which whether it was staged by the UFC or not at the time I thought was just a douche thing to do on his part and he's been very douchey ever since.

That and the fact that the only 'champion' Evans has fought made him look very ordinary before he got KTFO. Regardless of what anyone says Griffin (Who believe it or not I backed against Rampage and again won some cash at the time) is not a champion fighter and he's never going to see the belt around his waist again. His was a right time, right place thing.

I don't put Rashad in the same category of douche as say Ortiz, but I still hope 'page knocks him the **** out and teaches him a little humility. To be honest I think getting another kicking will be the thing that makes him a champion again. The over-confidence and smack talking will just get him beat up if he earns a shot at Machida or Shogun. He needs to stop acting like he's got nothing to prove, because IMHO he still has everything to prove. He fought nobody (Except grampa Liddell) to earn his shot, beat a cardboard champion to win the belt, then looked very ordinary against Machida and then again against Thiago.

If you need an example of what I'm talking about look at Mir's transformation now that he has something to prove with his beef with Lesnar. He's a better fighter for the beating he took and if & when Mir Lesnar III happens I think it's going to be an awesome fight.

without lesner Mir would not be the man he is today i really like that. also i want machida or shogun to dominate the belt forawhile. im sick of 205 not holding a belt ever since the fall of chuck

HUH!?!?

Head movement is something that is severely lacking in MMA. One of the paramounts of western boxing is head movement as it is not nearly as emphasized in MT, kickboxing, etc.

Silva can't bitch at all; if he didn't want to lose by decision, he should have trained his TD defense more. Rashad had a smart gameplan. It wasn't the most exciting way to win, but he did what he needed to do to get the win. Far too many people bitch about wrestlers in MMA. It's a huge part and is not going anywhere. In fact, the wrestling wave 2.0 is just beginning as the money has increased and many D-1 champs are training BJJ in their off-season.

Agreed. I for one am glad Rashad went back to his wrestling more. For awhile all he seemed focused on was standup. I think Rashad's wrestling in that fight was actually exciting. I really wanted to see Rashad and Hendo.... guess that may be awhile if ever.

yeah lesnar definitely sparked the fire under mir...but machida or shogun will be a good champ but....jon jones is coming....his prescence will be wriiten in stone depending on how he fares against vera.

I also agree with Mir's progress being a result of his loss to brock.

Jones is great but damn he needs to read a rule book.

Losing Lesnar to health issues, while gaining a new & improved Mir was a double edged sword for me, ugh... :blackeye:

hahaha yeah.. Afraid that his wife would call him a pu$$y again, Frank did whatever he had to do to beat this man.

Who knew he's not just a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu but Ninjutsu as well.
You can hire his services if someone is trying to take land from you in places such as the Phillippines etc.

*hopefully someone's old enough for this movie reference**

He'd be one large ninja. I wonder if they make ninja outfits in XXXL. He'd have to drop an entire crate of smoke bombs to make a stealthy get away.
