Turff49 Quest for Success

I'm wanting a "150" day now! Yeah, I'm greedy...

I went to bed last night convincing myself that 130 was just 5lbs more. Woke up this morning feeling confident I could do it on the bb one arm rows. After I did those I figured I could do the meadows at 130. And still feeling good I decided to go 130 on the one arm DB's. If I'd had time I would done the HS ISO lateral rows.

For me the biggest obstacle is always mental.

Look at you go! 130 on all of them! Killer lil row a thon for sure!!!

My gym has a rack with a place to slide the bar in for these.
My back has gotten stronger since I've done the trio of one arms(bb, meadows, db's) back to back to back. One of the best moves I've made on my workout yet.

I'll have to give it a go one of these days.

Off the wall question here:
Why do we not count the bar weight on meadows rows or one arm bb rows? If I could count that weight then I really like my numbers. lol

1. You're not lifting the entire bar off the ground 2. The fact that you're lifting the bar from one side only creates an imperfect set of angles that makes it pretty hard to quantify how much bar weight you're lifting at any given point in the ROM

True. I didn't think about the weight varying based on where at in the movement either. Just one of those things I always wondered about.

Was gonna comment on the bar question but LiftandSwims has it covered. I agree with you though Turff. Lol

Very strong numbers. And awesome PRs.

I do my one arm rose a little differently. I keep the bar outside my legs. It's harder to keep balance of the heavy weights, but you get a longer range of motion.

I've done them both ways. Never really noticed going deeper with one over the other. If the bar is between my legs then I stand at a slight angle to the bar and then come up until I'm as deep as I can go. Maybe I have short arms...

Not necessarily deeper, but further up. I remember the last time I did them in between my legs I didn't get a good lat squeeze like on meadows rows, so I moved them outside (like Johns routine called for anyway). I had to drop the weight, but got a much better pump.

Just a personal preference, and because I didn't lift today I have to get my nose into someone else's routine. :)

I'll check next week and see if I have to go lighter doing them outside the legs. Last time I did them a couple months ago I used the same weight. For me, I find the Meadows easier and think I can probably end up going heavier on them than the bb rows. The bb rows I feel in my obliques. The meadows I don't.

I agree about meadows' too. I can go way heavier there. My back is weird. On the HS and certain rows I'm really strong, but on others, like pull-ups an Kroc's, I'm not so strong.

Pull-ups are their own animal. Only way to get better at them is to do them. A lot of them.

Yeah, last year before summer I would do played drop sets and was really good at them. Granted, I was also 180... But I was pulling more than I weigh now for more reps.

I never tried the one arm rows between the leg like that! I've always done them on the side. It is a little hard to balance but you definitely get more rom at least compared to 2 arms....I agree- counting the bar should would make my ego feel better! Lol

Day 75 - LEGS

Dosed the Clen at 80mcg tooky pwo concoction and off to the gym. Have to work this weekend so went to the gym a bit earlier. Got there at 5am.

I was pretty sure I would cramp up this morning due to my abs being really tight when I got up. And they did, more on that later. Anyway, did get another PR today...

Hack Squat
90 x 12
180 x 12
270 x 12
360 x 10
450 x 7
470 x 4 - PR
I about passed out on those last 2 reps. Made the mistake of holding my breath(I think). Had to sit on the floor after rep 4 and my mind went blank for a second and light headed. Good stuff!

Leg press
180 x 12
270 x 12
360 x 12
450 x 10
540 x 8
Abs started knotting up on me and had to take a 10 minute break to get the cramp to ease up. Some foam rolling and stretching, etc.
Guess the taurine hadn't kicked in yet...
Finally able to move on. But decided not to do any more on the leg press. Afraid I'd cramp with all the weight in the down position.

Leg extensions
100 x 15
130 x 15
150 x 15
180 x 12
195 x 10
210 x 10
230 x 10
These felt really good. Probably due to the 10 minute break after the leg presses.

Seated Leg curls
90 x 12
120 x 12
150 x 10
165 x 10
185 x 7 and hammies cramped up

Ran out of time and called it a day. Except for the cramps, which I knew would happen, it was a good workout. Here at work now and I'm already feeling this one. The teardrops in the quads are killing me when I first start walking after being seated. Will definitely log some time on the bike tonight to keep blood flowing and to work the soreness out.

I checked this morning and I get the same ROM regardless if I have the bar outside or between. Must be my off center stance. I keep the bar in the same plane as my arm though. If left arm the bar comes right up alongside my left leg. The plate comes right over my left shoulder. If that makes sense. Balance wasn't an issue on the outside for me. Actually it felt easier on the outside. I tried a couple reps with 115 on the bar so I could "feel" any difference.

Maybe I'm standing wrong...

Huge hack squat and leg extension numbers.

Congrats on the PR. Heavy hacks!

Thanks guys. Yeah, my legs are feeling it. Have to stay moving lol. I think the Combination of going heavy on legs and taking the Clen is what has my legs so sore. Normally I'm good to go after doing legs.

This... Agree with you though Turff..

This is also how I do them.

I have not tried with the bar between my legs, but maybe should give this a go.

I think with Meadows it is also the stance and how we address the bar. Plus with one arm rows we are pulling from behind the weight .. not over it or in front of it like with Meadows.

Do you notice anything with taking Clen with your Stimul8/Ignite2 ?? By that I mean a different physiological effect?

Leg extensions
100 x 15
130 x 15
150 x 15
180 x 12
195 x 10
210 x 10
230 x 10

Good lord, you are Mark in challenge mode or wha?

No not really. Other than the cramps and I expected those.

I'm only in challenge mode to myself!! The 10 minute break made those a little easier. I felt fresh when I did the extensions. I like to push those too because it's the only exercise where I feel them in the teardrop. Trying to get a little more definition to them.

Cramps in legs?

Well you definitely crushed those extensions.

Cramps started in the abs. Which is where I always cramp up at. Legs didn't cramp until I was at work. But they felt fine by lunch.

On my leg workouts, you got to remember I don't do barbell squats(fused back) so I have to push my other exercises because of that.

Right forgot about that. I have to be careful with my squats and any deadlifts due to L4/L5 discectomy

Yeah, be careful man. You don't want to go through what I did. Most painful thing I ever experienced. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Although, the procedure has gotten better. They don't have to cut you down the back and cut through the lumbars now. They go through the side with 2 small incisions. Sucks they didn't do mine that way...

Insane leg workout and even killed it after the cramps!! I'm gonna need you to show me how you stand on the rows! Maybe I'm doing it wrong! Lol

That doesn't sound very good at all. I am surprised all those heavy back exercises don't give you some grief from time to time.

I'll see if I can shoot a clip tomorrow here at the house.

Yeah, I was concerned too but the cramps subsided. I had planned to do Front squats but scrapped them as I was afraid I'd get a cramp with the heavy weight across me. Would not have been good! lol

I really keep a check on it. And if I feel anything that isn't normal then I stop. So far I've been lucky. But, there are several exercises I just don't do.

Shot a quick vid doing the one arm bb rows between legs and outside legs. For me there is no difference. I've seen different variations on you tube and this is the one where I feel I get the best range.

Couple update pics. Weight at 185.4. Felt a little bloated this morning, probably from the huge bake potato I had at dinner last night. The potato weighed around 400grams and was around 100g of carbs by itself. Invalid Link Removed

For some reason the pic keeps showing up upside down but on my phone it isn't.

Day 76 - CHEST

WORKED A 12hr day yesterday so decided to keep everything light to moderate. Felt bloated and tired.
Dosed the Clen at 80mcg and took my typical PWO concoction. Unfortunately I didn't have my FINAFLEX Muscle Fiber last night and in turn no bathroom stop before the gym(that always sucks).

Incline DB presses
60 x 15
70 x 15
80 x 15
80 x 12

HS chest press wife grip(as wide as you can grip
90 x 15
180 x 15
180 x 15

HS chest press normal grip
180 x 15
180 x 15
270 x 12

HS incline press
90 x 15
90 x 15
140 x 15
140 x 12

Incline flys into hex press
So set of flys and then straight into hex press = 1 set
45 x 12 ea
45 x 12 ea
50 x 12 ea
50 x 8 ea
My god what a burn
Did 2 sets of 180 on shrugs just to stretch back out!

Dips
3 sets of 10

DB pullovers
80 x 10 x 4

Pec dec flys
105 x 12
120 x 12
150 x 10
165 x 8

Pretty obvious the PWO kicked in not long after I got there as I had a burst of energy!

No cramping issues today either!

Damn, turf. Lookin' pretty darn huge over here
Thanks man. For some reason I can't see it. Have people all the time tell me but I always see myself as small.

You see yourself every day. It's hard to notice changes. I felt the same way, but then I looked back at some old pictures/videos and damn have I grown.

I see the difference on the rows. I stab more upright on the outside leg stance based on instruction from the MD routine, and probably need to just lean in more on the inside-leg stance. They are on tap this week...

I agree with LS, looking huge man. Especially in the video. Your nood doesn't look bloated to me, but I don't see you everyday...

Strong chest day Turff! Love those 'wife' grips myself! ;)

my neck now hurts from standing on my head to see those damn pics  lookin good brother!

Sorry man! I even deleted it and uploaded it again. But for some reason it wouldn't delete the attached pic. When I hit edit it only shows one pic.

Haha!! I had to look back and see what "wife" grips were... Damn smart phones. lol

If you look at his vid of one arm barbell rows with chains he's bent over. I saw it over on you tube.

Thanks man!

Well you made that look simple! I stand more in a lunge on the 1 arm rows! I will try it between my legs next time. You're looking great btw!! Lots of changes!

Thanks Kat. Lunge stance: I saw a vid of a person doing them that way. Looked awkward to me but if they work that's all that matters!

Thanks. Hoping the run with Clen gets the results I want!

Turff, you are looking great brother! I'm jealous as ever! Great looking V shape and defined back and abs! At our age this is something to be very proud of! I'd be walking around with my shirt off if I were you!! Lol
